Chapter Nine

"Boss you are hurting me."

She cried out as Heath's hold on her was very tight to the point that his fingers were imprinted at her wrist. His anger was all he could focus on and didn't realize he was hurting the same person he was protecting. It wasn't until they were in his office that he released her.

"Why are you wearing that?"

He shouted causing her to flinch. His tone was filled with rage.

"Martina gave it to me."

"And you wore it? or maybe you wore it to seduce them. Are you always this naive?!"

His voice was no where down. He hadn't intended to raise his tone but what she was wearing was making him mad and to see another man grabbing her like how the dude did made  him crazier.

She shivered, forcing to hold in her tears but that only made her burst out. 

"I am sorry Liana, it's just that this place is too dangerous for girls like you. Who would have known what would have happened if I hadn't come there and you wearing that is making me crazy."

"Pardon?"

She snapped her head up making Heath realize what he just said.

"Hmm, I said you wearing that only put you in harms way and  I don't like that. Tomorrow at 10am I will take you to get new and decent dresses. Now get back into what you came here with and take the rest of the hours off."

"But boss I just started. It been less than thirty minutes."

"I know, but this has not happened to you before and due to that you are frightened. I should have warned you."

"I am fine boss, I am not frightened."

"No you are not. I can see it Liana. Now just go and rest. I will see you tomorrow  at ten."

She realized there was nothing she could say to make him change his mind so she went to to changing room to change into the clothes she came in with then left for the night. When she got home, Velma was still by the TV watching a reality show but her head was buried in a file she held.

"You are back early, are you alright?"

Velma questioned in her Spanish accent, raising her head from the papers. 

"Yeah everything is fine. Just closed early today."

She told her a half truth not wanting to tell her exactly what happened. Velma would have said 'I told you so' if she had.

When she first told Velma about the job, she had warned her that the club is  quite a dangerous place for her to be and made sure to make her understand the dangers involved but as naïve and stubborn as she was, she didn't listen. Even so now, she had made up her mind that she will never quit despite what happened today.

"Then I guess you are going straight to bed?"

"Yeah if you don't mind."

"I don't. But you will have to tell me how your first day went tomorrow."

"It was not eventful,  but I hope tomorrow will be better then I will have something to tell you."

"Okay dear, goodnight and sound sleep"

TIME SKIP

Velma entered the room,  when after she knocked there was no reply. She was worried but she calmed down when she saw Liana soundly asleep on her comfy double bed.

"Eww she scared me with that silence"

She said beneath her breathe putting her hand over her chest. She turned to leave, deciding to speak with her when she wakes up.

"Velma?" Lia's hoarse voice called out making Velma stop just when she about opening the door. 

"Yes , You are up?"

She nodded, getting up from her bed. 

"Are you okay?"

"Yes I am. Is anything wrong?"

"No dear nothing is wrong. I came to tell you that I spoke with my doctor and he said he will be glad to attend to you."

"Wow! that's so great thank you so much."

"You are welcome dear. Here this is his number, I have set an appointment for you at 12:00pm today."

"What is wrong?why are you tearing up?"

Velma asked as she heard the sniffing sounds Lia was making.

"Nothing I am just grateful to you. I don't even understand why you are so good to me. If you aren't an angel then what are you?"

"Aww dear, being an angel is a good thing right? if I have to be one to help a sweet girl like you I would. There is no need to cry or overthink things. I just want to help you and that's just what I am doing."

"Thank you so much."

"Aww come here." Velma opened her arms, taking her into an embrace.

"Everything is going to be okay dear, just be you and then watch things fall into places. Also, I want you to be careful at the club."

"I will mum."

She said causing both of them to laugh out loud. This was the first real laughter she had had ever since this whole drama started. And was looking forward to more, when she finally meets her prince charming and her baby.

"Is there any food you are craving for this morning?"

"Hmm no!. I will have whatever you are having."

Heath's POV

"Hey man long time no see."

My best friend Pharrell said pulling a seat for the brunette he had hanging on his arms.

"Yeah I have been f*****g busy. You know, with the club and the new ones we are opening in LA."

"Okay no problem. So far as I got to see you today, I am fine."

We were currently at a five star restaurant we usually eat at with  the guys. But today instead of our usual four member group, it was him, the girl he brought  and I.

"What's up buddy? why did you call me here?" I asked while checking the time. I had plans with Liana to get her new clothes for work.."

"You got anywhere to be?" He asked but his gaze was on the girl. knowing him, I know very well he is f*****g her or he is planning to.

"Yeah, have plans with someone."

"Who. A slut?"

"She is a woman not a slut."

"Wo wo wo, that's a first, she must be pretty special to you for you to be in a hurry to go to her. Damn you have not even defended a girl before neither have you regarded one a woman."

"Yes I  understand you  bro, but she ain't special to me. She is what she is. A naive decent lady who is far from being a slut. At least she is better than this w***e you brought with you." I said the truth bluntly

"Heath!"

"What! isn't it the truth? aren' t you f*****g her?"

I asked out of the obvious. He excused us and walked away with me to a far corner.

"What is wrong with you man?"

"No what is wrong with you?. Come on Pharrell ,you have a wife that loves you so why are you doing this to her?"

"The last time I checked she has no problem with it so why should you?"

"Because you are my friend, my brother and I always got your back. Please stop all this before it destroys you."

"You know what, I have had enough. I don't want you to have my back. I just want you to be happy for me."

"What do I need to be happy for? that you are driving your life down into a ditch?. No bro I will never do that. I got to go, say goodbye to your b***h for me."

I went back and picked my car keys from the table and without a glance at the girl,  I exited the restaurant. I had texted Lia earlier to meet me at the restaurant so it wasn't shocking when i run into her at the entrance. I looked back and saw that Pharrell was consoling the b***h who wasn't having a happy countenance.

"Hey, how are you doing today?"

"I am good sir but a little feeling nauseous."

"Come and sit for a while inside.  I can get you something to drink. Water maybe."
