Cup of decaf coffee in hand, I sat by the cabin’s small cast-iron fireplace, gazing wearily into the tamed flames, waiting for the knot in my stomach to loosen. I hadn’t relaxed yet. Not one second. And though it was close to four in the morning, my body was telling me it wasn’t midnight yet. Anyway, the sunrise wasn’t for another five hours—plenty of time to catch up on my sleep. Around three in the afternoon today, the sun would set.
