Adrianna was walking up and down her room with pure anxiousness. She was supposed to have her period last week.
The last time she had her period was the week before she f****d Thomas. Five weeks had passed since.
"God please no..."
Then she remembered the last sentence Thomas said before exiting her car.
"If you don't get your period this week, you have to go with me to the hospital to get tested for pregnancy and I am not going to take no for an answer, Ria."
Adrianna jumped into her bed before pulling her hair. This was f*****g annoying!
Why did her period not show up at this time? It was definitely a set-up by the universe.
She had thought everything would be good after divorcing Derek but then she had to encounter Thomas again…
Men were really the embodiment of bad news.
While in her wild state of thought, she suddenly felt a throbbing pain in her temples. It just came out of the blue but she was quick to start massaging the spot to relieve the ache.
Thinking about Thomas definitely caused her some stress so she made up her mind not to think too much. In a few days, she would get her period and everything would be settled.
This week though, she had to immediately start exercising so she would lose weight and wouldn't be caught unaware by crazy paparazzi and their stupid question. The first step was cutting down on junk food.
That is to say, she would only have one junk food a day instead of two. Ordering pizza for dinner would be very rewarding so that was what she was going to do.
For breakfast and lunch, she would only have fruits and vegetables. Maybe salads too.
That evening, Adrianna did some yoga exercises and stretches. Then she ordered pizza for dinner, took a shower, and slept like a baby.
The next morning, she had only one appointment and she looked forward to it because the client was Mrs. Claire Jameson Anderson. She was an elite from a huge family and she was the only woman in her family that was as successful as her father. She was even richer than her husband.
Because of this, her husband had tried to kill her on multiple occasions for her property, he was also a cheat. This was just a rumor though.
Adrianna was for one looking forward to this case.
She wanted liberation for this woman just like she was liberated, and she would do everything she could to ensure it happened.
Adrianna did her morning routine and as promised, she had salad for breakfast and it was quite a good feeling for her because it felt like her life was picking up again. A few more stretches and she was almost ready.
A white short skirt and white T-shirt with a coat was her outfit for the morning coupled with silver heels. She also styled her hair and did her makeup.
She looked very splendid this morning and she was proud of what she'd done.
Just when she was about to leave her house, she received a phone call on her iPhone 12 which was strictly for business. Her Samsung Galaxy note was for her private matters. It was a phone many didn't have access to.
The person calling her iPhone was Mrs. Claire.
Adrianna answered the call and brought the phone to her left ear.
"Hello? You are onto Adrianna Dhalrahmini,"
"Thank goodness," Adrianna heard a soft murmur in response.
It seemed Claire was an introverted and gentle woman.
"This is Mrs. Jameson, I wanted to ask if we could meet somewhere else aside from your office. I think I'm being stalked by my husband and can't blatantly go to your office, please forgive me..."
Adrianna sighed. This was quite popular in her line of work. Some of the clients would ask to meet somewhere except her office.
It was sometimes fun but sometimes, she was given tasks to wear costumes to attend some parties just because the clients feared being seen with a lawyer.
Adrianna had to admit that her work was quite dangerous but that was also the part that made her work-life exciting.
"Sure, Mrs. Jameson. Where should we meet?"
"Well... I have a coffee shop. I'll send you the details immediately."
The line went dead and Adrianna sighed.
She proceeded to walk out of her two-storey building apartment and to her Mercedes Benz.
By now, she'd received several messages from Mrs. Jameson.
The message contained the name of her coffee shop and the address. Alongside was an indication of the location on the internet map.
Adrianna smiled.
Mrs. Jameson went through all the trouble.
Adrianna started her car and drove off.
She knew exactly where she was going.
Mrs. Jameson's coffee shop was called Gladys and Adrianna knew it quite well. The aesthetic was light purple and white; These were colors that suggested the value of the shop. However, Adrianna had never tried the coffee before.
Thirty minutes downtown and Adrianna arrived at the so-called coffee shop.
The windows were transparent but one couldn't see the people inside but the shades of clothes people were wearing were quite vivid.
Adrianna stepped out of her car to take a good look at the coffee shop and she was beyond impressed.
Just from seeing the outside aesthetic, she could conclude it was beautiful.
Adrianna locked her car and proceeded to the shop. She pushed open the doors and as soon as she got in, she was alarmed by how scanty the customers were.
Only a few tables were packed with people.
The tables, by the way, looked very polished and beautiful.
A smile tugged on Adrianna's lips.
The inside of the coffee shop looked like a little barbie palace. It was like a safe haven, if it was up to her, she would want to go to the coffee shop daily just because of the aesthetic.
Adrianna further walked into the coffee shop to search for Mrs. Jameson. She was doing the searching mostly with her eyes.
Suddenly, Adrianna spotted a hand waving in the air.
She followed the hand and soon recognized Mrs. Jameson who was sitting at a table at the very back of the coffee shop. She wouldn't have spotted it easily if the Mrs. didn't wave her hand.
Adrianna smiled and walked toward the table.
"Oh my Lord, Miss Adrianna Dhalrahmini!" Mrs. Jameson said with a wide smile as soon as Adrianna was in front of her.
"You look gorgeous! I mean I've seen you on television and you looked very beautiful but now that I'm seeing you up close, you're very stunning!"
Adrianna cleared her throat, "Well... Thank you, Mrs. Jameson,"
The flattery was nice and all but Adrianna wanted to get down to business. Smiling at compliments was quite tiring too.
"My apologies for making you come here,"
Mrs. Jameson was a petite woman, almost Adrianna's height but her appearance was more cute than stunning.
"That's alright, Mrs. Jameson, if you don't mind, let's get down to business."
"I do mind," Mrs. Jameson said, leaving Adrianna astounded, "Pardon?"
"Have a seat, I'll be right back." Mrs. Jameson stood to her feet before running off.
Adrianna sighed and sat down as Mrs. Jameson said before glancing at her wristwatch.
Their appointment was supposed to start by 10 am and end in an hour from now.
Was Mrs. Jameson not aware that she was wasting time doing whatever she went off to do?
Adrianna tapped her feet against the tile intending to calm herself but it only made her anxious so she stopped.
Five minutes passed before Mrs. Jameson came back holding a tray of coffee and hamburgers.
"I'm sorry for making you come all the way here."
The tray was placed in front of Adrianna and her anxiousness fully vanished upon seeing the snacks.
The hamburgers looked very rich in vegetables and meat! And the coffee also smelt really good!
"You needn't bother, Mrs. Jameson," Adrianna chuckled.
"Please call me Claire, I'd rather not be called a Jameson. I'll no longer be married to my husband in a short while anyway."
"Ohh," Adrianna acknowledged and took a sip of the coffee.
It was very good.
The taste was fresh and luxurious. She liked it.
"How's the coffee?"
"Very good."
The moment Adrianna said that, Claire let out a sigh of relief.
"Thank goodness, I was nervous you didn't like it."
"It's good," Adrianna assured, taking another sip.
Claire smiled and her eyes lit up as she did.
To Adrianna, she looked like a happy cute little puppy.
"You should try the hamburgers too!"
Adrianna hesitated.
Claire had wasted five minutes going to prepare her coffee and hamburgers.
Another five minutes had been wasted making small talk.
"Well... I can eat it later. Why don't we get down to business, Mrs. Claire?"
"We can do that later. Please eat while the hamburgers are warm."
Adrianna sighed and looked into Claire's indignant eyes. It seemed she had no choice so she moved the plate towards her and grabbed a hamburger.
Her expression was neutral as she ate, until she took a bite of a piece of meat in the hamburger.
Her eyes brightened and Claire grinned as she noticed the look of surprise and awe in Adrianna's eyes.
"How is it?!" Claire looked more excited than Adrianna who was eating the hamburger.
After chewing the piece in her mouth, she nodded, "It's f*****g good, the meat just melts in the mouth. It's absolutely mouthwatering and nourishing."
Claire smiled, wiping the tears that had just formed in her eyes. "Thank you!"
Adrianna cleared her throat and nodded, unsure if Claire's teary eyes were because of her or something else she was going through.
After eating the delicious hamburgers and coffee, Adrianna said, "Thank you for the delicious meal, Claire. I enjoyed it.
A single tear rolled down Claire's cheek which she immediately wiped.
After a second had passed Adrianna decided to take control of the meeting.
"Let's get right down to business, Claire. What do you think?"
Claire nodded vigorously, "Yes!"
"You want to get a divorce, Is that right, Mrs. Jameson?"
"Well, yes. But I'd prefer it if you called me Claire."
Indeed. The madam might have a petite body and be quick to cry but she sure as hell was very insistent.
"I would be happy to call you Claire outside of work, Mrs. Jameson. However, It is very important to set the formal underlings and titles straight."
Claire pursed her lips and Adrianna clicked her tongue knowing she had won this one.
"Why do you want a divorce, Mrs. Jameson? I'd appreciate it if you were completely honest with me."
Claire sighed, intertwining her fingers for comfort.
"He cheated."
"And?"
"Actually," Claire pushed back the strands of hair that fell over her face. "He was never faithful from the beginning, I knew he had a mistress but I didn't care. He always gave me all of his love when we made love!"
So she got tied down by d**k.
Adrianna held back the urge to laugh at her joke and she was successful.
Holding back laughter was another part of her job.
"But then I realized that his love for me was fake since he didn't treat me right when we weren't in the bedroom. One day, I got into an accident..."
Adrianna leaned forward in seriousness. What her client was about to say next was going to be the most important part.
"... The accident was a huge one but no one knew about it because it was near a private beach. When I went home, I overheard my husband on the phone with his mistress. He said I had died and she could come over to his place for some hot steamy sex."
Adrianna had dealt with many cases like this one.
"Do you have evidence?" She asked.
"No." Claire sighed tiredly, "That's why I need your help."
"You have nothing to worry about."
Adrianna brought a book from her bag and started jotting down what she had just heard. After she was done, she looked at Claire.
"You're going to make evidence,"
"What?" Claire raised an eyebrow, "What do you mean?"
"Judging from what you've told me, your husband wants you dead. But we need to understand his motive."
Adrianna knew all of the necessary steps that should be taken but without the active involvement of her client, she wasn't willing to take the risk.
"He wants my property. I am the first daughter of my family so rightfully, I have a higher percentage of stocks and assets."
Adrianna nodded. She knew all these things.
"Do you have an idea of the main properties he could be targeting?"
"Yes," Claire said after a thought.
Claire's father was currently ill so her father transferred his shares to her in case he died. In her father's will, there was a clause that stated that Claire's husband could take over the company if she died or was unable to work.
"My father's company."
Bingo!
