Josie was constantly yelling at Alejandro for abducting an innocent, naive girl. Even though when he tried to explain her that he wasn’t planning on harming her or even touching her a tide bit and he did it for friend, she scolded him even more saying that it was just plain stupid risking an innocent girl’s life.
Josie stormed out of the office, her blood pressure hyphened up. Alejandro tried calming her down, partially scared for her health. He trusted, loved, respected and cared for her just like his own mother. For him she was his mother. His own mother had passed away right after giving birth to him and while his father engulfed himself in expanding his mafia business, Josie was the one who took care of Alejandro and taught him the peck of feelings that he still had inside his heart hidden deep somewhere.
Josie looked frantically around the library without checking the corner where Rachel actually stood facing her back towards them. Even when Alejandro tried to tell Josie about the girl who he most probably thought was Rebecca; she yelled right back at him, stomping out of the room.
He gave a look at the girl in the corner. Her sleek figure was wrapped tightly in blue sun dress that had her long sleeves bare.
She must’ve lost a lot of weight. Alejandro thought to himself, remembering the last he had seen Rebecca. And her hair are still brown. He gave a look to her long brown hair that fell all over her back.
Just as the door to his office, slid off and shut, the girl in front of him turned around.
Alejandro was taken aback by the beauty in front of him. The first thing he saw was orbs of dark and light, hazel and honey mixed right into a flavor of mocha. That’s how one would define Rachel’s simulative eyes. Her high cheekbones, sharp jawline cheeky face that depicted innocence with even the way she moved a strand of hair behind her ear. Her full lips, looking deliciously plum to Alejandro’s eyes.
He moved his gaze down and the low plunging line of the dress showed her perfect molds, creased at the center looking admirable. Just then like a splash of water hit Alejandro he recognized the face and realized who this girl was. She wasn’t Rebecca, Jacob’s wife. She was the other girl in the picture with her, the blonde one who was now brunette.
“What the f**k?” he yelled out loud turning towards his office and slamming the door right onto Rachel’s face.
He frantically moved into his office, to and fro, vindicating on who to kill if the entire plan was screwed up.
“Boss, what happened?” Anthony walked in, followed by Jason and Derek.
“What the f**k have you guys done?” Alejandro yelled at them, clenching his fist tight, controlling himself from killing anyone of them,
“We kidnapped the girl who told us to.” Anthony casually told him back.
He was the intelligent one in the whole squad and was the prime man who always made conversation with Alejandro.
“This is not the girl I told you to kidnap.” He yelled loudly at them, grabbing the round crystal globe of him desk and throwing it on the wooden floor, smashing it into pieces.
“What? No boss, this is exactly the one. The mail said the blonde one, R which meant to the right. In the picture she was blonde, on the right.” Anthony defended himself back.
Deep down inside all three men were scared to death, they had already hidden about the murder of Alejandro’s cryptographer by Jason’s hands, and now if they had screwed up a job that seemed important to their boss as he was personally involved in it and risked keeping the girl at his private island, which he never does, they all knew that they were dead meat.
Alejandro realized how they had screwed up the entire job, which could be through the coded system, “Where the hell is Samuel?”
The three stood frozen at their boss’s sudden demand at seeing the last guy they wished he’d never ask for.
“He’s back in Barcelona.” Derek instantly lied to which Anthony squeezed his eyes shut, shaking his head knowing that Derek screwed up the entire situation.
“Where the f**k is Samuel?” Alejandro gritted his teeth, reaching out for his pen, ready to kill anyone by the stab direct into the throat.
“He was killed.”, Jason immediately muttered thinking of a story.
Alejandro gawked at him with squinted eyes, clenching his jaw too tight that his men feared that it might pop up any moment, “Who killed him?” he asked through a low gritted tone.
“The Italians, the Francesco’s men killed him.”
Anthony knew that Jason had invited his own death today. He simple shock his head, grabbing a seat on one of the corner sofa chairs, knowing that it was going to be a long conversation.
“You are saying that the Italians who are scared to death to even kill a bird in my territory, who’s placed I have occupied and made them my little b***h, they would dare to kill my men. And also a cryptographer, someone who isn’t even in the field.” Alejandro stood face to face with Jason, who despite of his much broader and taller structure, feared like a little wimp of what might Alejandro do to him.
“He was f*****g one of their woman.” Jason slipped off the top thing that dangled in his mind.
“He was f*****g your sister.” Alejandro yelled at him the truth he knew and smacked his fist right into Jason’s face making him stumble down.
He shook his fist gradually, fighting off the pain that felt like a minor needle stitch to him.
“Alright, boss!” Anthony filled mustered up the courage to speak, “This f*****g i***t killed Samuel because he was using his sister to get back at him for sleeping with his ex.”
Alejandro looked at Anthony for a moment and then realized his own policy, ‘No using of family to get back at enemies’.
“He had it coming.” Derek mumbled at Alejandro, scared to get himself punched in the face as well.
“Just take him f*****g away from here.” Alejandro pointed at Derek to pick Jason up, “Get his wimp face some ice pack or shit.”
Derek followed his orders and took Jason out of the room. Anthony still sat at the chair and Alejandro stood looking around to come up with his next step.
“I need to inform the client of your estupido mistake.” He yelled at Anthony, sitting down on his chair across the large table.
He picked up his phone and dialed in from his satellite phone that he used in the island to contact people outside the place. He dialed the number to his friend, Jacob Walters.
Jacob picked up on the third ring, “Dude! I have been trying to contact you since this morning, where have you been, mate?” Jacob enthusiastically chimed at Alejandro sounding incredibly happy.
Alejandro felt confused. He must’ve known about Rebecca filing the divorce against him by now. Why does he sound so happy?
“Did you leave early from Germany?” Jacob asked Alejandro who was still taken aback by Jacob’s enthusiasm.
“What’s going on?” he asked confused at Jacob’s happy voice.
“Mate, you’ve done the best job ever. They don’t call you the king for no reason.” Jacob sounded genuinely appreciable towards Alejandro.
His attitude was confusing him by every passing second but he stayed calm because his instincts were incredibly influenced by his experiences and he always knew how to stay calm in every situation.
“The girl you kidnapped, turns out my wife loves her more than anything and would do anything if she is to be kept safe and guess what? She has agreed to make the marriage contract last up till the next three months.”
“Wait. What?” Alejandro was rendered completely dumbfounded when he heard Jacob’s words.
“I don’t think it would’ve even worked it we had kidnapped Rebecca.” Jacob scoffed on the other side of the phone.
“What?” Alejandro now hissed at him with gritted teeth at his such an inadequate plan that was not a complete sure.
“But look how thinks turned out. You are a real savior.” He changed the topic knowing how bad Alejandro’s temper could be for one.
“Now what are we supposed to do with her?” Alejandro asked looking at Anthony who was keenly noticing Alejandro’s expressions sitting at the chair afar.
“Well, personally I’d say throw her under a bus and after three months say it was an accident.” Jacob chuckled nastily suddenly in flaring Alejandro’s anger.
“Is she necessarily required for anything?” he cut straight through the point and asked the main question.
Jacob understood Alejandro’s tone and immediately cleared out his throat, “No, I don’t think so. But remember it things ever follow up she is supposed to be with you for the next three months.”
Jacob warned him emphasizing at the word ‘supposed’ knowing that Rachel’s stay with Alejandro could also be made hypothetical.
“Fine. But remember the deal has now increased to all your docks in Africa and Asia.” Alejandro cut straight to the business, reminding Jacob his real motive behind helping him.
“Whatever you say big guy.” Jacob laughed back trying to lighten up the atmosphere.
Alejandro cut down the phone partially still mad at Jacob for making him jump into an extremely dangerous plan by bribing him his docks for money laundering. The plan already turned into a mess because of his men’s imbecile mistake and now he was supposed to take care of that small creature sitting right outside his office, in the library.
“What’s going on?” Anthony asked looking at Alejandro who sat with his palm fisted underneath her chin, over his elbows resting on the table.
The nerves popping right out of the sides of his temples showed that he was pretty anxious and furious at the same time.
“We did get the wrong girl but apparently we did the right thing.” He heaved an irritated sigh, not believing his own words.
Anthony furrowed his eyebrows not understanding his boss’s words but feeling somehow relieved that they weren’t going to get killed for screwing over the simple job of k********g a girl.
“Are you sure there wasn’t anyone else on the plane?” Alejandro asked Anthony still not sure of what had happened.
“We double checked, locked and then woke up the girl we took from the plane. Just her and a horny pilot who had popped up some Viagra.” Anthony told Alejandro honestly describing the entire scenario just as he had seen it.
Alejandro looked at him keenly, trying to make up the entire situation. Finally understanding the entire scenario, he put forth his decision,
“Alright, the girl stays for three months.” He announced his decision moving forth, opening up his laptop and getting busy in his work.
“What? What are we supposed to tell her?” Anthony asked Alejandro confused at how the events had turned out. He was hoping that his boss would let go off the girl and not keep her for such a long time.
She had already caused a thrift in all of their lives just within two days, he could only imagine what she had held as a package if allowed to stay for another three months.
“Don’t say anything. Keep her alive and around for the next three months.” Alejandro simply shrug, picking up his phone and making a call to Ibiza to his secretary Carl.
“For the past two days she literally broke mine and Jason’s faces asking what did our boss want for her and what are we supposed to tell her that why would you want her for the next three months?” Anthony told his dread truthfully to his boss.
Alejandro paused as he was about to connect a call. He sighed insightfully, “tell her it’s for her friend. She is being kept as a security.”
“And she won’t try to blow our brains?” Anthony asked him, his eyes bulging out of his sockets as he debated his boss.
Alejandro looked at him with disbelief. He never argues with me on anything.
“Don’t tell me, you’re scared of that little creature.” He asked with a slight smirk on his face, amused that Anthony who was also his most dangerous assassin was afraid of a small, wimp looking, sleek girl.
“That thing, did this to me.” He pointed towards his face, “And you saw Jason this morning. It was her.” He argues his point making Alejandro chuckle slightly.
“I saw her. she does look vicioso (vicious).”
“She is unpredictable, she kicks really hard.” Anthony argued with a less amused tone studying how his boss was putting him down now, “All I’m saying is, she wouldn’t be in control here. She would try to run or hurt someone and Josie won’t let us even anywhere near her if she stays here. At least let us lock her up in Ibiza or Barcelona.”
Alejandro noticed his point. He did sound favorable to even him. This way I could tell Josie that I had some business work from that girl which was done and she was set free.
“Fine, take her to Ibiza. Carl will know how to handle her.” he said dismissing off Anthony who was just glad that now he could tie Rachel up and make sure she doesn’t make anyone run or suffer behind her. he made his way outside the office towards the main hall, searching for Rachel.
Alejandro made his call to Carl and notified him about the whole situation, telling him to take care of Rachel and make sure she stays safe for three months.
He sighed roaming his chair around and walking towards his office’s window which faced directly right outside the house, towards the back where the small back lawn was attacked to which the help of the manor’s railing that ended right into the ocean where even the island ended.
Alejandro enjoyed feeling the breeze, looking ahead and noticing the way the waves hit up with every time he felt the wind hit his face, the same time a wave of different intensity hit along the solid white concrete railing of the manor.
The clouded sky made it darker for a noon and even cooler for the temperature to be, but Alejandro enjoyed the simple beauty of the scenario. It gave him an unusual ecstasy of peace. He couldn’t find it in his restless work that always have him and his life on the edge but looking at something so lifeless like the ocean, simply hitting and waving off and on, again and again at the same spot gave him an unusual quivering satisfaction.
As he sighed in peace, leaning against the frame of the white windows his eyes noticed a silhouette of a woman standing far to his left, near the edge of the railing. She was constantly moving her mouth but even at a distance he could make up with her dress and figure that it was Rachel.
He simply rolled his eyes at how Anthony went towards the hall searching for her and she was standing outside, looking at the ocean. But what made Alejandro curious was the fact that she was constantly moving her lips and her hands as if she was talking to someone.
Curiosity took the better of him, he leaned forward, cranking his neck up further to notice whom Rachel was talking to. His eyes caught the glimpse of the wheelchair and as he saw the face of the man his eyes bulged out as he instantly froze.
He couldn’t believe his own eyes that his father – Diego Santiago was actually not just talking but also laughing as he stood right next to Rachel on his wheels. He was a paraplegic, rendered as such in a car accident by his enemies, the Iuchinis, whom Alejandro had avenged but even after that Diego had completely cut himself off the entire world.
Growing up on a private island, Alejandro always thought that it was part of security but after his graduation and completely taking over his father’s business after his accident; seven years ago, his father had completely distant himself from everyone, including Alejandro himself. He refused to treatment, medicine or even communication. Every caretaker that Alejandro would hire would end up quitting because of his rude and stubborn behavior.
The last time Alejandro saw his father smiling was on his graduation. Diego used to not so open, loving or communicating father but he was the one to always push on talks and encourage bonding with Alejandro. He would always remind Alejandro how important family, name and honor were and after his accident he completely cut himself off from him. With Alejandro’s takeover on the business and his busy schedule he still managed to keep a track on his father and encourage his father to talk but he got nothing in return. Nothing but blank spaces for him to fill on his own. Diego would spend days in his rooms, without even letting Josie in, He would keep himself busy in reading books from all compiled ones in the library. The only way through which Alejandro thought that he would communicate to him was through replacing new books in the library, hoping that his father would notice.
And now looking at his father standing outside in the lawn! Alejandro was rendered dumbstruck at the entire scenario.
Alejandro remembered bringing his father out in the garden almost a year after his accident, trying to get him out of the house but that day Diego rudely pondered on Alejandro and told him to not to ever take him anywhere or push on his wheels. And after six years he was actually seeing his father out in the open that also talking and laughing to… Rachel!
