The next day Leah watched for Miss Minnie to come outside. When Leah saw her neighbor walk into the back yard to begin hanging up clothes, Leah walked across the street to her.
“Good morning Miss Minnie.”
“Well, hello Leah, how have you been?” Miss Minnie asked. “How’s Jason? I haven’t seen him in a week. He sure is a sweet thing.”
“I’ve been good, and Jason’s doing good. That’s what I wanted to talk to you about.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, and I want you to be honest with me. I understand if you don’t want to, but, well, you had said once that you wouldn’t mind watching Jason for a few hours.”
“Well, yes. I’d love to. You two need to get away from home once in awhile. Young couples like you and Colin need time alone.”
