“Hi, are you settled in?” I smiled, and she tried to smile, but it didn’t reach her eyes. Margaret had been through a lot in the past couple of days. Hell, she’d been through a lot her entire life.
“Yes, thank you.” She rubbed her hands together tightly. A sign that she wasn’t comfortable. That was the first thing I wanted to work on with Margaret. She needed to learn how to relax. If she didn’t, she would never find peace, which was the main thing she needed. Now that she was here with me, though, we could work on everything and hopefully, eventually, she would be able to go back to Riley’s pack and be with her children.
