I couldn’t let him leave without saying goodbye, and I was dressed and waiting when he came out of his room before the sun was even up. I handed him a travel mug with his favourite coffee and wished him well. I could see the hesitation in his eyes and that he was on the verge of asking me to go with him.
“You are going to be late!” I laughed, and he softly growled before dropping a kiss on my forehead and rushing to the car.
