Sofia's P.O.V
"Sofia, can you come here please?" I heard Caleb shout
I walked through the flat into the girl’s bedroom.
It was 12.00 on a Saturday, Caleb had to go to work at 1.00
"Yep" I said walking over to him
He had Paige in his arms, she was gurgling.
I put my finger on her little nose
"Boop" I said pressing down softly on it
She'd giggled and wriggled around in Caleb's arms
"Darlin, am I taking the girls to Nikki's on the way or are you taking them" he asked
"I'll take them if you want" I smiled
"You’re such a Darlin" he smiled
"I know" I said reaching up and kissing him on the cheek.
Isis and Oreo were in the crib with Bailey, she was sat up, and was playing with the little kittens the best a 5months year old could.
Bailey was doing pretty well; her operation was next week and we had been told that the odds were in her favour.
It astounded me, and scared me a lot, my daughter, my almost 6month old daughter is going to have major surgery.
And the thing is I don't need countless doctors telling me that the risks are low or whatever, I don't need Nikki, fussing about Bailey and I trying to keep me calm but really only stressing me out more.
No, what I really need is my dad, I needed him to wrap his arms around me, kiss the top of my head and simply whisper.
"Everything will be alright"
But I couldn't have that, and as much as I hopped and prayed, I might never have that again.
"Okay, I'm going to work then" he smiled
he walked over and kissed me softly "I love you" he smiled
"love you two" I smiled
he gave me a warming grin and wandered out the room, out the flat, downstairs and into his car
I walked over to the window, I could see Caleb getting into his car.
"wave to daddy baby" I said to Paige
she wiggled her hand at the window and I did as well
I saw him smile, he climbed into his car, waved back and headed of to work
"common then bumble bees, let’s get you to Nikki's" I said to the girls
I walked over to the crib and picked Bailey up, carrying one girl in each arm, it’s much harder than it looks.
I loaded them into the car and drove to Nikki's
I got the girls out the car, walked up to the blue front door, and rung the bell
Jakob came out the door first, he looked pretty ruff
"wow mate, you are doing okay" I asked
he just shook his head, put in his head phones and ran off down the drive.
"Well alrighty then" I huffed
I was quite use to it, the grumpy teenage behaviour, but the boys only were ever quite if they were eating, every other minute of every day they were chatting on and on.
It was just odd
"Nikki" I called as I walked through the door
"one minute" I heard a shout
Nikki ran down the stairs towards me, her hair soaking wet, wrapped in a towel.
"sorry, I just came from visiting your dad, thought I could shower quick enough before you got here, guess not" she said
I smiled handing her Paige
Paige began to grumble at getting wet, thanks to Nikki
"sorry bumble bee" she said to Paige
we walked through to the kitchen and I put the girls in there play pen that had once been Kirsty’s.
"Nikki, where is Kirsty?" I asked
"ah, she's at this gymnastics thing, Josh took her, he passed his driving test last week so I said he could take her" she smiled
"oh yeah, I heard about that" I smiled "did Jakob pass? is that why he is in a foul mood?"
"oh no, he passed with flying colours" she stated
"He is having major girl troubles" she wiggled her fingers in a mocking way
" But he won’t tell me anything, said it was too complicated, but I just don’t see him and summer working out, I just think she'd sui someone who wanted a more chilled life, Like Josh for instance, were as Jakob's constant boom boom pow life, I just think it’s not her style" Nikki said matter-of-factly
"yeah, I suppose" I pondered
I suddenly realised how much I hadn’t been there for my brothers since I moved in with Caleb, we use to be so close, now as they were about to leave school and move on with their lives, I just didn't have a clue what was going on in them
I looked down at my watch
"8.55"
"oh damn, sorry Nikki, I’ve got this coffee thingy at 9.15 and its a 15-minute journey at least, I should get going" I smiled, getting up
"okay Sofia, take care" she smiled at me, kissing my cheek
"bye bumble bees" I said to the girls, waving slowly
I got in the car and headed to Starbucks
I ran in the door at 9.16
"I’m so sorry" I said walking up to Lottie who was sat at the table at the back
"no trouble, one minute don't hurt anyone" she smiled
"coffee, tea, water?" a waitress asked coming up to our table
In the end, we ordered two mochas and a cake to share.
"so" said Lottie, licking the cream of the top of her coffee
"how’s the fiancé" she asked
"who, oh yeah him, I forgot about that" I said
"you forgot that you’re getting married?!" she asked
"well yes and no, it’s always on my mind, the little girl inside me has been planning the day since she was six, but there has been so much going on lately I just haven’t thought about it, you know" I said
"yeah, these have been a pretty eventful 3months for you, haven't they" she said
"tell me about it" I sighed
"So how many months is it to the wedding now?" she asked
"About 8 months, we are planning it to be around early April" I smiled
"That's brilliant, oh it's going to be so perfect" she fussed
"Lottie, I know we've just met and all but, will you be one of my bridesmaids"
"OH MY GODSSSSS YEAHHHH" she shouted
many other people in the coffee shop glared over at us
But I didn't care
I was smiling again
Laughing again
I had a new friend, and a strong one at that.
