"Hello, little Duckling," Ace greeted, making me sigh as I slammed the locker shut. I turned around to walk away, but he stepped in front of me, blocking my way. "Where are you going?"
I remained silent, and crossed my arms over my chest.
"Talking to you, Clayton," Ace said, snapping his fingers in front of my face. I continued to ignore him, pretending like I had not even noticed him. He narrowed his eyes at me, before a smirk slowly spread across his lips. He made a move to grab my book, but I held it tightly to my chest, hoping it would make him stop. And surprisingly, it did. But then he grabbed my arm, and pulled me to his chest, making me let out a loud gasp.
"Now we're talking," he smirked, winking at me. I tried to get free of his hold, but he was too strong. So I gave up. Since fighting or begging didn't work with the Wolves, this was my new approach. Keeping my gaze to the ground, I stood there silently, trying to ignore his hand that was holding onto me. "You think you can ignore me, Clayton?" He raised an eyebrow. "Let's see how long." He caught hold of my wrist, and started to drag me somewhere, and I quietly went with him.
That was, until, I realized where he was taking me. My eyes widened when I saw us approaching the men's room, and that is when my struggles began. Ace let out a chuckle, his grip tightening, as he continued to pull me towards it.
"Let me go," I finally snapped, scowling at him, as I dropped everything I was holding onto the floor. The entire strength of my body was directed at getting free of him, but being the size of a duck in front of a giant didn't help. "Acehole!" I yelled out, sitting down on the floor. And that made him stop.
He looked down at me, the look on his face shocked. "Seriously?" He asked.
"Let me go," I said each word slowly, scowling at him. Everyone around us was staring now, as I was sitting on the ground, in the middle of a corridor full of students. There were a few laughs and whistles around, and I hoped Ace would feel embarrassed and give up. But I could not be more wrong.
"You wish," Ace smirked, bending down and scooping me up into his arms. I let out a scream, wrapping my arms around his neck tightly, grabbing onto his T-shirt so I would not fall.
"Ace!" I screamed, waving my feet in the air frantically. "Let me go you jerk!"
"Shhh," he glared at me, making me freeze. "One more word from you, and I'll flush you down a toilet."
I gaped at him, punching his chest. "Let me go!"
He smirked and walked into the men's room, closing the door behind him with his foot. There was a group of jocks inside, and before they could see my face, I buried it into Ace's chest, closing my eyes shut.
"Woah," one of them whistled. "That does not look like Sapphire."
"Out," Ace stated, and immediately, I heard people walking past us, followed by the sound of the door closing again. Ace suddenly let go of me, making me fall to the floor on my ass. I groaned in pain, scowling up at him.
"What's your problem?" I yelled, standing up, before shoving him by his chest. "Just leave me alone!"
He covered his ear, annoyed by my yelling, before he caught hold of my wrist, and pulled me to himself again. He pushed my wrist behind my back, twisting it, making my front jam into his.
"Quiet," he stated, putting his index finger on my lips. I froze now, the fear kicking in as I felt my heart race. He was serious now, the previous amusement absent from his face. He let go of me, and I stepped away from him, gulping. Ace leaned against the sink, crossing his arms over his chest, as he looked me up and down. I felt uncomfortable under his scrutinizing gaze, and looked away, hugging myself. "You're so weird," he muttered, striding up to me suddenly. I backed away into the doors of one of the stalls, causing it to close with a bang. "Why don't you just leave?" He asked. I glanced at the door, but before I could start walking, he placed his hands on either side of me. "Not right now," he rolled his eyes. "I mean permanently."
I narrowed my eyes at him, my anger kicking in, replacing my fear. "I'm not giving you that satisfaction, Ace Lucifer Argent."
He chuckled at my words, before stepping even closer to me, and bending down so he would be at eye level with me. His face was inches away from mine as his eyes flickered down to my lips, and he bit his own, before looking me in the eye again.
"Just give up, Ava," he whispered, his breath fanning against my skin. "You don't wanna piss me off. It won't end well for you," he threatened.
"Why? What's the worst you can do to me, Ace?" I asked, my jaw clenched.
Ace smiled, mischief glinting in his eye. "You really wanna know?" He asked.
I felt a chill crawl down my spine, but I took a deep breath.
"I do, in fact," I replied, nodding. "You made a laughing stock out of me in the cafeteria, emptied ice cubes in my shirt, poured cold water onto me, and threatened me in a washroom. Twice. Oh, and you made me miss one class on my first day, and be late for another. What else do you wanna do? Haven't you done enough?" I asked.
"Enough?" He raised an eyebrow, grinning at me. "This isn't even the beginning yet, Ava. You have no idea, the kind of things I have in store for you." He casually pushed my hair behind my ear, making me slap his hand away.
"Like what?" I asked. "You're gonna hit me? Break my bones? What will you do, Ace?" I asked, pushing him away from myself, stepping forward. "You're gonna touch me?" I asked, pushing him again. "Do it," I announced. "Do it if you want to. But get one thing straight, Mr. Ace Argent," I pointed a finger at him. "These things will only prove how much of a man you are. You think you're so great, because you can intimidate a girl? Guess what. If you really were a man, women would feel safe around you. You would be a protector, not a bully."
He clenched his jaw, glaring daggers at me, and my finger. I waited for a response, but apparently, my words had rendered him speechless. So I dropped my hands to my sides, and decided to use the moment to leave. But just as I reached for the handle, he grabbed my hand, and pulled me back.
"Not so soon, love," he shook his head, staring at me. "Why do you think I brought you here? To listen to your bullshit? No. Absolutely not. There's someone here, waiting to meet you."
"What?" I mumbled, frowning.
"Go check that stall," he gestured towards the one in the corner. I glanced at it, and noticed it was locked from the outside, with an 'out of order' sign hanging on the small handle.
"And what if I don't?" I gulped, looking up at him. I hated how much I had to tilt my head back, just to look him in the eye. Keeping my gaze on his body would have been easier. And more entertaining.
"You're speaking like you have a choice," Ace smiled. He pushed me towards it, making me barely catch hold of the sink to save myself from falling. I turned to glare at him, but he just waved me off, gesturing to the stall again, with two of his fingers.
I glanced at it again, a chill going down my spine. I bit my lip, slowly making my way towards it, as I felt my palms turn sweaty. I was not getting a good vibe from this. I glanced at Ace again, trying to read his expression, to guess what was in there, but his face was blank, completely void of emotion.
"Come on," he said, walking over to me and standing behind me. "Open it. You don't wanna miss a class today as well, do you?" He asked.
I gulped, turning back to the stall. With a trembling hand, I undid the lock, and took a deep breath, before pulling the door open. My eyes widened and blood ran cold as soon as I saw what it was. Sitting on the closed toilet seat, and staring right back at me, was a huge black Viper, it's forked tongue flickering out just as I saw it.
I let out a loud scream, and slammed the door closed, backing away from the stall as quickly as I could. The door swung open again, and I frantically backed away further, bumping into Ace's chest. I tried to run towards the door to exit the washroom, but Ace grabbed my wrist and pulled me back to the spot.
"Let me go," I whispered, shaking uncontrollably, as beads of sweat made their way down my forehead. I had always been extremely afraid of snakes, and by the looks of it, that Viper was poisonous, and deadly.
"Now, that's not the kind of welcome you give your guest, do you?" Ace frowned, holding onto my other arm as well. I was struggling with all my might, until I heard a hissing sound, and something touched my feet. I froze in spot, my heart banging in my chest, as tears rolled down my cheeks. Trembling, I looked down, to find it slowly slithering over my foot, and making its way to Ace. A small whimper escaped my lips, but I remained as still as I could, despite the trembling. As soon as it was off me, I pushed Ace away, and ran to the door, ready to escape.
But the door refused to budge. I pulled on the handle, banged the door, and screamed, but all I heard in response was sounds of laughter. I glanced at Ace, watching him pick the Viper up into his hands, like it was his freaking baby.
"You made her sad," Ace frowned, looking down at it. "Medusa's upset with you."
Medusa? The hell?
He looked at me with disappointment in his eyes, while Medusa slithered up his arm, and onto his shoulder. And he seemed eerily fine with that.
"That's-that's your pet?" I asked, gulping, as I stared at him with wide eyes.
"Yeah," Ace grinned at me proudly, as Medusa wound round his neck. "You wanna touch her?" He asked, stepping towards me.
"No!" I instantly shook my head, taking a step away from him. "Keep it away from me!"
"But she wants to touch you," Ace frowned, "right, Medusa?" He kept walking towards me, making me tightly back away into the wall, as it became hard for me to breathe. Tears and drops of sweat were mixing together on my face, as it was the second-most scariest moment of my life. I was trembling all over, and with every step Ace took towards me, I felt my vision getting blur and blur.
"Please, please," I whispered, closing my eyes shut now.
