He is alive

I laid in the hospital bed with my eyes closed. I was in so much pain but the doctors reassured me that no serious damage had been done to me, just a busted lip and alot of bruises. I was surprised I felt pain pain and more pain.

"Bella" Adam whispered as he leaned forward. "I called your parents but I just got the voice mail so I left a message." he said to me.

Adam was here, he was still here. I felt a little bit happier that he was here with me. He was the first nicest person that I have met since I was here.

"Yeah my mom probably misplaced her phone again. The move and all, she loses things." i said tiredly.

That wasn't a lie, my mother, in her own words, repelled technology. My mother lost everything and always has. That was one of the things that I loved about my mother.

"And I had spoken to the doctor and he said that you are good to go home. We are just waiting for your discharge papers." Adam added.

I couldn't help but smile at him, even with the pain I was feeling. "Thank you."

"No problem. I only did it for the date." He joked.

I chuckled to myself. "About that date, how is tomorrow."

Adam scrunched up his face and shook his head. "Even though I really want to, I think that would be a bad idea. You need your rest." He was quiet for a few moments before he spoke again. "Are you going to tell me what happened?"

I was caught off gaurd by his question. Did I really want to tell him what truly happened to me. Did I trust him enough?

Adam must have sensed my hesitation because he placed his hand on my shoulder. "Bella, you can trust me. I won't tell anyone."

I took a deep breath and forced my eyes closed. "Jake did it."

"Who is Jake?" Adam asked.

"Jake is the guy that got me pregnant." I admitted embarrassingly. "We are supposed to get married but I honestly don't want to. I can't stand him anymore" I finished in tears.

Adam brought my hand into his and held it comfortingly. "Don't marry him, don't. You can find someone better than him trust me."

I shook my head. "What kind of a guy wants a girl who is knocked up."

"A true man won't care. If a man loves you he will accept you for you." he replied.

I shrugged my shoulders. "I'm soon to be a single mom."

"I'm a single dad, or well I was."

This caught my attention. Adam was a single dad, well past tense, he had a child. It made me wonder what had happened.

"My girlfriend died and the baby went with her." he finished.

I gave his hand a reassuring squeeze. "I'm so sorry." I whispered.

A nurse entered the room carrying a clipboard with several papers, behind her was another nurse pushing a machine.

"Miss Swan we are about to discharge you but before hand we are going to do an ultrasound, standard procedure." The nurse said as she lifted up my shirt and squirted some gel along my stomach before they began running the probe along my stomach. For a few moments the nurse was silent before a smile spread across her face. "Miss Swan congradulations, you are having a baby girl."

I could have sworn my heart stopped. I got my wish, a beautiful baby girl. I felt a tear slip down my cheek before it was quickly wiped away by Adam.

"Congradulations." he said to me.

"Well Miss Swan I believe you are good to go." The nurse then said as she handed me the picture.

I rose to my feet carefully and headed from the emergency room with Adam. As we got into his truck I couldn't help but smile. I had a beautiful healthy baby girl that was growing inside me. In about 5 months I would get to hold her. I had a good friend and that was enough for me.

I looked over at Adam and smiled.

"So about our date tomorrow-" he began. "I was thinking dinner and a movie, my place."

I smiled and nodded my head. "I like that." I replied.

Adam still was interesting in me, that was relieving. It wasn't like I needed a boyfriend or anything but somehow it just felt nice to be loved.

I didn't realize how fearful of Jacob I was until we pulled up outside my house. I hesitated a bit before I got out of the truck. I slowly made my way to the front door and enteed. I listened carefully for any noises and didn't hear any, atleast in my bedroom. In the second room that was suppose to be the nursery I heard the sounds of s*x. Jake was doing it in my house again, totally disrespectful.

I pounded my hand on the door before I opened it. "You get out of my house." I snapped at the girl.

Jake rose to his feet quickly and got in my face. I could feel the anger radiating from his body. I wasn't going to shrink away and let him think he intimidated me. I was going to stand up.

"What Jake, are you going to hit me." I said to him, doing my best to keep my voice steady.

"I don't hit girls." He said to me.

I laughed at his comment. "Well thanks for the compliment but you should try and advance on that and learn to not hit women as well." I snapped back.

"Shut up and go to your room, me and my lady friend are having fun." he said before pulling a dark toned woman into his arms. She looked a bit nervous now.

"Jake this is my house, my parents pay the bills. I want you out."

Jake slammed me up against the wall and pinned me there. His face was inches from mine and I could once again smell the booze on his breath.

"You think you can just kick me out, HUH!" He shouted in my face.

I did my best to keep my nerves down. "Let me go Jake" I said calmly.

He turned to the girl and snapped at her to leave. Once the door had closed behind her I felt a bit of fear come into my body.

"Do I detect a bit of fear Bella." He said with a grin.

"I'm done with you Jake. There is going to be no wedding between us and you will never see my daughter. Tomorrow I'm going to buy you a plane ticket back to Washington and you are leaving." I told him. "My mind is made up."

Jake grabbed me around my neck and lifted me off the ground. I could feel the air slipping from my lungs and the life slipping away. In the next second I found myself falling to the floor as Jake had released me. No, he had dropped me.

"Who the hell are you!" I heard Jake speak.

I opened my eyes and looked around, standing in the middle of the bedroom was Adam.

"Bella are you okay?" He asked me.

I did my best to nod my head as my entire body trembled.

"I-I'm fine I just want him gone. Please get him out of my house." I replied.

"You heard the lady." Adam said as he moved across the room and stared down Jake.

Jake rose to his feet and moved to hit Adam. Adam caught his fist in his hand and twisted his arm behind his back. With one arm I watched Adam steer Jake out of the room. Getting to my feet I followed behind them.

"Here is ninety bucks there is a hotel 3 miles down the road, get a room. The rooms are forty dollars and that will leave you with fifty to get a cab to the airport tomorrow. I'm going to get you a plane ticket and you are going to leave. Come back here and I'll have you arrested." Adam said to Jake before closing the door.

Adam turned to face me and walked slowly over to my side before he took my hand into his. "Are you okay?" he asked me.

I wrapped my arms around my waist. "Yeah I'm alright, thank you for that back there. But why?"

Adam and I moved to sit down on the couch. "I like you Bella." he said plainly. I looked at his grey eyes and smiled.

From the corner of my eyes a blue object drew my attention. I turned my attention to the object and saw it was a intricate looking ring with a large blue stone. In the middle was the letter 'M'.

"I like your ring." I replied. "The stone is really pretty, is it a sapphire?"

Adam smiled. "No, its a lapis lazuli stone. It's rumoured to have mystical powers." He said ending in a funny tone.

I pulled my legs close to my body. "Do you believe in the mystical world?"

Adam grinned. "What is your idea of mystical?" he asked

I sighed. "Vampires, werewolves, magic." I whispered.

I wish I would have kept my mouth shut, now he might think I'm crazy or something.

"Of course I do, its real." He replied.

A small smiled crossed my face. "So your rings power what does it do?" I asked a bit more curiously. "The letter in the middle, what does it mean?"

"A lapis lazuli is a mystical stone enchanted by witches, to allow vampires to walk freely in the sunlight. Naturally female vampires often wear amulets or bracelets that possess lapis lazuli stones, as oppose to male vampires, who often wear rings." He said flashing his. "The 'M' is my families name, Masen." he finished.

I adjusted my seating on the couch as I looked at Adam. Was he being for real or just making fun of me? If he was being for real that must mean he is a vampire.

"So you are a vampire?" I stuttered.

He gave me one slight nod and then smiled. "Guilty."

"So your family isn't really your family are they?"

"Well I have my twin sister, she is back at the house doing her studies. Our mother, father and brother are dead. We were born April 13th 1898 in Chicago, Illinois. My twin sister Eve was born a few minutes after myself and our younger brother Edward was born 3 years later. My parents and younger brother died from Spanish Influenza. We were changed by our creater in September of 1918. When I had awaken I waited for my sister and then we fled immeadiately and never looked back since then."

I sat up straight almost instantaneously. Adam was born in Chicago Illinois, he had a younger brother named Edward and his last name was Masen.

I brought my shakey hand up to my mouth before I dropped it "Your brother Edward is alive."
