After we had spent time with my father we decided it was time to head over to the Cullens. I drove of course since I knew where they lived. When I pulled up the entire family was looking apprehensively in our direction. I was unaware of how welcome I would be to the family now in my predicament, would they still like me as they had before?
As I headed up to the house with the twins and my daughter I paused. "I don't think I can do this." I said to him. "There is something you need to know about me and your brother." I began.
He wrapped his arm around me and pulled me close. "I already know, Eve is clairvoyant, she can see into the past. She saw you and Edward." he finished.
So he knew but he was still here with me, he must really care. Or atleast really like me.
He brought his lips to mine and kissed me lightly. "Come on" he said as he took my hand and led me forward.
As we came to the porch Esme quickly brought me into her arms. "Its nice to see you again Bella." She said. She gave me a small peck on the cheek and then embraced the other two. "It's a pleasure to have you in our home, I didn't know you were still alive."
Adam get a light bow and Eve a small curtsey. "We didn't know Edward was still alive."
Carlisle walked forward and hugged them both. "It's been a long time since I've seen you two." he began. "I thought you had passed on."
Adam shook his head. "We were put in the morgue and considered dead. A vampire decided to pay a visit and bit us both, three days later we were vampires as well. When my sister and I had finished draining the dead bodies of their blood we took off."
"Do you know if mom is alive or?" Eve asked.
Carlisle shook his head. "She died before I turned Edward."
"Speaking of Edward where is he?" Eve said looking around. "I have went several centuries thinking he was dead."
Alice sniffed the air. "He is upstairs in his room."
I looked around, where were Emmett and Rosalie? "Do you mind if I head inside, I need to wake Sarah up and feed her." I asked Esme.
She smiled and opened the door for me and I carried the carseat with my sleeping daughter inside. By the time I sat her down I felt like going to sleep for a very long time. I was literally exhausted, not to mention hungry. What had I even eaten since yesterday, a sandwich. I was definitely hungry for a nice greasy hamburger.
I unbuckled Sarah's carseat and brought her into my arms before I began to wake her. The moment her eyes fluttered open Adam was at my side with a bottle of formula.
"Thank you" I said as I took it from him and began feeding Sarah.
When I had finished feeding Sarah and had barely gotten her back to sleep the doors opened and in walked Rosalie and Emmett. From the purple bruises under their eyes I knew they had just gone hunting.
Rosalie immeadiately came to my side. "Can I hold her?" she asked me.
"Sure, she is sleeping." I said before I carefully placed Sarah into her arms.
The moment Sarah was in Rosalie's arms it was like I didn't exist. Rosalie was completely absorbed in my daughter. I took this opportunity of personal time to go and talk to Edward.
I rose to my feet and headed upstairs. When I had came around the bend I froze, Edward was talking to Eve and Adam.
"Why would you do this to me?" Edward spoke.
"Please don't make this about you Edward, I love her." Adam said.
"So do I" Edward replied.
"Then why did you leave her?" Adam countered.
"It's complicated."
"Lets try not to argue," Eve began. "That is the only thing you two ever did as kids. We are only here for a week then we are returning to the island, lets make the best of it." Eve said.
"Wait, let me talk to Carlisle and Esme, maybe you guys can stay." Edward said quickly. "I can't lose you guys again."
"I'll only stay if you accept my love for Bella." Adam said.
I heard footsteps and then the sound of two people hugging. "Just don't hurt her Adam." Edward said before he headed towards me.
Edward went to walk down the stairs but I cut him off. "Can I talk to you Edward?"
He escorted me down the stairs and we went into a spare room. "Bella, it is nice to see you." He said kindly. "I want to thank you for bringing my family back to me."
"I didn't, it was a coincidence really."
Edward chuckled to himself. "No, it was fate. And believe me when I tell you this, fate is real." Edward moved forward slowly and took my hands into his. "Fate brought me to you and then you brought me to my family. As long as you are happy and my brother is happy then I am happy."
Edward was practically telling me that he was okay with me and his brother being in love. Despite the pain from losing me he was reciprocated greatly from his blood sibling whom he though was dead.
"Love-"
"-Will find me when the right time comes. I'm just greatful to have felt something after so long." Edward placed his hand on my heart and smiled before he walked away.
I couldn't help but smile at Edwards selflessness. He truly wanted me to be happy and I liked that. Out of the misery I went through over the last year I found happiness. Adam, he made me happy.
Adam came into the room and took my hands into his before he pulled me close and kissed me. I loved the way he held me. It was surprising how gentle he was for a vampire. For Edward it took alot of practice but Adam, it was like he had done this before.
"I was thinking that maybe we could pay a visit to Jacobs house, he should be able to see Sarah." He suggested.
I took a step back. "He's a monster."
"He's the birth father. If this role was reversed what would you want? You'd want to see your daughter right?" He asked.
I took a deep breath, sighing. He was right, but I wasn't about to leave and go to his turf, I wanted him here. That way if he tried to pull anything I had the Cullens.
"I'll try to call him." I said before I pulled out my phone.
I dialed his number and waited for him to answer.
"Black residence" he spoke formally.
"Jake, it's Bella. I'm back in Forks and was wondering if you wanted to see your daughter." I paused for a few seconds. "She looks like you." I added.
I didn't know why I added that but I guess I just wanted Sarah to see her real birth father. I guess the image of Jake holding Sarah was what my heart wanted. I didn't love him and despised him for the days of abuse but Sarah was his daughter and unless I didn't think he was a danger to Sarah I wasn't going to keep her from him.
"Are you at Charlies?" he asked.
"No I'm at the Cullens, do you need directions?"
"No, I'll be there in a few." he said before he hung up.
I put away my phone and headed back downstairs. I was quickly cornered by Alice who was freaking out. "I can't see anyones future" He kept saying to herself. Jasper kept closely at her side trying to calm her erratic emotions, unsuccesfully.
Alice couldn't see our futures, I wasn't sure if that was good or bad. Something bothered me about that. What happened to take away her visions of us, was there a shield keeping her in the dark?
"Rose" I said as I headed into the room.
Emmett cut me off and lifted me off my feet before spinning me around. "Ah Clutz, I mean Bella." He teased. "Still tripping over your feet or have you got past that?" He joked.
I wrapped my arms around Emmett and held him for a few seconds. "I'm still tripping." I responded before I continued over to Rosalie.
"Jacob should be here in a bit to see his daughter."
Her head snapped in my direction. "Black? Jacob Black, is her father?" she asked.
I slowly nodded my head. "Unfortunately." I added.
She laughed lightly. "It's hard to tell, I mean the wolves smell aweful but Sarah she smells like the trees after a gentle rain. Its appealing but not overwhelming in the way blood is."
"What? A wolf?" I asked confused.
Rosalie nodded her head. "Yeah I think he's phasing now, I can't stand his scent. Smells like a wet dog."
"Wait, do you sniff him?" I asked laughing a bit.
"No, we just run into their scents while we are out hunting, its disgusting. It almost always kills my appetite so I only hunt in the north."
A knock at the door drew our attention. Rosalie handed me Sarah and I rose to my feet. Walking around the corner and into the living room was Jake. His hair was shorter and his muscles looked stronger.
"You cut your hair?" I asked moving a few steps forward.
I saw Jakes eyes narrow as he looked past me. I turned my head to look behind me and saw Adam closely behind me. I could tell he was being protective of me but I didn't exactly mind.
Ignoring my previous question his eyes fell to Sarah who was sleeping in my arms. Her thick hair stuck up at its ends in soft strands and her face held a pouty expression in its beautiful russet color.
"So this is her. What's her name?" He asked as he stared.
"Sarah Renee." I replied.
He looked up at me. "Can I hold her?" he asked me as he held out his strong arms.
I hesitated before I slowly placed her into his arms. I saw Jakes face light up almost instantly. "Sarah." he murmered before he held her closely in his arms. "You are so beautiful." his eyes flickered up to mine briefly. "Can I take her to meet my father?" Jake asked
For some reason the idea of Jake taking her even if for a hour or two didn't run right with me. I slowly shook my head.
"Bella, please. Just this once, I'll only be gone for thirty minutes, an hour at the most. I just want my father to be able to meet her. I'll drive really slow, I'll look both ways five times, I'll I'll." Jake begged.
I held up my hand. "Fine." For some reason I felt like I would regret my decision. I just didn't want to cause any problems between us or anything. Atleast anymore then we already had. "I want her back before 4 okay." I said firmly.
Jake smiled before nodding his head. In less than five minutes Sarah was dressed and in her carseat which was in the back of the sedan that Carlisle was letting him borrow because he had only brought his bike.
The moment he pulled away with my daughter I wanted her back. Adam came over to my side and held me tightly.
"How about we go and do something to take your mind off of Sarahs absence." He offered. "How about the beach?" he asked.
I accepted right away only because I wanted to get my mind off of things. I let Rosalie know if Jake brought Sarah back while we were still out that she could watch her. She accepted right away and then we set off. As we headed to the beach something in the pit of my stomach kept me on edge, what was it?
