Chapter Five

Derrik Logan wasn't a handsome man neither was he ugly but he was not the kind of man a woman would look at twice but he was filthy rich and most women wanted him for that reason only. He was tall and had a pot belly which was very unattractive since women obsessed over men with ripped flat abs and not pot bellies.

He was a busy man and had no time for gym to dissolve his pot belly. He had learnt to live with it and it didn't bother him at all. He was thirty years old and still not married, he wasn't intending to get married to gold diggers who would divorce him after a year and loot his possessions. He had told himself marriage was out of the question but that all changed the second he laid his eyes on beautiful Miss Crawford.

Logan desired her with every fiber of his being but he was afraid a woman like Liana wouldn't find him attractive unless she wanted him for his name but somehow he had a feeling that Miss Crawford wasn't that kind of a woman. When he looked at himself in the mirror, he sighed at the sight of his big belly. For the first time in his life his pot belly bothered him and he wished he didn't have it then maybe luring Liana would be easy. The first time he laid his eyes on her everything went on slow motion, he watched with delight as she took each step along the corridor, her hair bouncing up and down. He knew right that moment that she was the one he had been waiting for all his life and it was no coincidence that she was right there in front of him, he knew he had to act fast.

Logan had to pretend to be the H.R so as to get some time alone with her and to grant her a job, the real H.R wasn't going to since the company was not hiring at the moment and even if there was a vacancy Liana wasn't going to qualify with no work experience or good references.

When Logan noticed Liana at the hotel with another man, who was tall, handsome with flat abs, he felt jealous but he wasn't going to let Josh stand in his way of getting the woman he wanted. Liana faced his direction for a brief moment and Logan couldn't help smiling and waving at her, Liana smiled and waved back. Josh did not like the exchange of smiles going on between these two; he pulled Liana into his arms as if to tell Logan back off the girl is mine.

They soon left the hotel and Josh drove Liana back home. "Thank you for the wonderful time Liana, I hope to do this again sometime soon", he grinned. She didn't reply; her day seemed like a dream she was waiting for someone to pinch her to wake her up.

She just stared at him like a lost puppy and then she later smiled back. Josh wasn't planning on waiting for tomorrow to taste her sweet lips especially with multi billionaire Derrik Logan now in the picture. Josh wasn't going to wait for her to give him a sign she was ready. He wasn't sure if she was going to kiss him back or pull away but he was going to kiss her anyway. He slowly leaned forward after grabbing her by her waist pulling her tightly close to him. Shivers were going through her body and she couldn't move. He grabbed the back of her neck with his hand and gave her one hell of a kiss completely blowing her away. There were butterflies in her stomach, his lips felt so sweet on hers, so soft and smooth. His kiss was like a gentle massage. The man definitely doesn't have a tomorrow, she thought.

Eight o’clock sharp Monday morning, Liana was on time for her first day at work. She was seen to her office by the real H.R who was following Logan's orders. He wanted Liana to have a comfortable stay in his company not because he wanted that for all his employees but because Liana was his wife to be in his mind. Liana didn't know that she was seen as a future wife and not just a qualified accountant. She didn't even know that the company wasn't hiring at all. Her contract was filed and she received keys to her company car, a Chevy Malibu. She was ecstatic; her life had just taken an unexpected turn.

Her first day at work wasn't bad at all everyone was nice to her and she made a few friends. Their names were Ashley Jones, the twenty two year old receptionist and Cindy Rhodes, a twenty six year old accountant. Cindy and Liana shared an office and worked together as a team that meant spending a lot of time together and that made them become very close within a short space of time.

Cindy was a petite lady, 1, 60 cm tall, she had red hair and big blue eyes. Liana thought she was very pretty and good at her work. Liana learnt a lot from her and she was a good friend, more like a sister to her.

Four days surpassed and she still hadn't seen Mr. Logan at work as he was away on a business trip. Weekend came and Liana spent it with her new found friends getting to know them better and she got back home late in the evening. "Maybe it wasn't such a good idea pushing you to find a job", grouched Kayla when Liana entered. "Are you kidding me? Thank you, it feels like my life has just begun and I owe it all to you for that little push"."Well it feels like I've lost my best friend, I mean you are at work every week day and then you decide to spend the weekend with your new best friends leaving me home alone to die of boredom", she griped.“I didn't mean to abandon you Kay, please pardon me; I thought you had your own plans for the weekend".

"Are you kidding me? I always spend my weekends with you if I’m not at work and you know that so I don’t know what plans you are talking about". Liana did not have any friends before starting work; her only friend had been Kay. She separated from her high school friends when she moved to another town to live with her aunt Mrs Luther after her parents passed away. She was excited to have friends again.

Mrs. Luther had been out and about with her friends as usual leaving Kayla alone and bored. When she returned home she was in a good mood and she offered to cook dinner for her two daughters, she considered Liana as her second daughter.
