MALIKA’S POV
I stared at Kar as the information she had just given me sank in. My beta was pregnant, to a man who not only now has a mate, but has also just been reported missing, leading us to believe he is now in the hands of the psychopaths who have killed off three different species already.
“Oh, goddess Kar, why didn’t you tell me all this earlier? Why have you been dealing with this on your own?” I said as I hugged her, and she began to sob again.
“I felt… like a… reject,” she said between sobs. “First my mate… then…then the guy I’m dating…why does…no one want…me?”
She was hysterical at this stage, and I had no idea what I could do or say to make her feel any better about herself.
I just held her tightly in my arms and spoke soft reassurance to her that we would all be there
