CHAPTER SIXTEEN Otis did not believe he was a brave man and rarely if ever, thought of himself as such. Now, leading his horse from the town, he made a slight detour on the way to the Quince ranch. He needed time to think, to get his head sorted out. What to say to Quince, to make his boss understand the reasons why Otis was not in the town jail along with Frank and Weasel. Quince had not seen what that stranger Reece could do. If he had, he’d understand. As it was, he’d label Otis a coward, a man not willing to carry out instructions.
