CHAPTER 1 Nina, a beautiful girl in her early twenties, lies on a bench which is on the patio of her house. Her hair is tied in a bun. She wears a short silk sleeveless gown that exposes her soft, luscious, plump breasts and straight-well-shaven legs. The sun shone softly against her pale face. Her lips were red, her cheeks flushed and her face blemished. She lies on a small wooden bench, an antique beauty, gifted by Josh’s father, that is against the wall, close to the flowerbed filled with daisies, peonies, poppies and other assorted flowers that filled the air with a beautiful smell. Nina lies on the bench, reading and daydreaming. She reads carefully from her favorite comic book, “Maude and the Tigers”. She laughs at a funny line and drops the book on the side of the bench, slowly drifting into her usual daydreams. She thinks about Josh, about how beautiful the marriage was, about how they met as high school sweethearts, about how they got matching tattoos. They were so stubborn. They ran off to another town even when Josh’s strict Catholic parents disapproved of the marriage. They partied hard and got drunk every other day. They drove drunk and made love in Josh’s dad's car, which he stole from the garage. They got arrested and were bailed so many times by their friends till Nina’s mom threatened to cut her off. They skinny-dipped in many pools and rivers and had pool s*x as many times as they could. Nina was tired of her marriage. She was tired of Josh. After they had graduated from high school, Josh asked Nina to postpone her plans of being a singer to support him in his own dream of being a business manager. He promised to support her too when he stood on his feet, and they were both a bit stable, but a few years later, he tells Nina he does not see her making it big. He makes everything so boring. Randomly, Nina would try to bring it up to him, and he would waive her by claiming to be very busy and tired. He would guilt-trip her with complaining about how busy he was hustling for the family and instead of Nina complaining, she should be grateful and thankful to him for giving her a roof over her head and some luxury . The first house was a bit cramped and the neighborhood was very undesirable. Nosy neighbors, bugs creeping into their house and bad water. They had both agreed that once Josh got his first contract, they would move. She quickly got the memories of their first home out of her head. This home is where many memories come from. This home is where she got the scar on her left leg where she scratched on the balcony during an intense love-making session with Josh. On the coffee table, she smiled as she thought it was where Josh bent her over and ate her out while putting cake icing on her intimate parts. The patio, now she lies there alone, was once where she and Josh would unwind, around the flowers. They would sing love songs, listen to Nina sing, watch her write and sometimes fall asleep there, but now she was all alone. She closed her eyes, she was tired. Josh was comfortable. They, him and Nina, were very comfortable. They lived in a large luxury mansion in a very prestigious area in New York. The large mansion sat on 8,000 square feet of land on a fenced estate. Josh knew Nina loved flowers and when they moved in he brought the best gardeners to plant different exotic flowers around the house. The house contained five bedrooms and seven bathrooms. They had two homes. The one they live in now is their primary home. They have had so many beautiful memories from living in these two places that sometimes Nina prances around from corner to corner trying to relive them. The house sat on a rock, overlooking very captivating scenery. The interior contained expensive glass, Italian furniture, the bedding and curtains were expensive, and they had a pool at the back. A lawn tennis court, a guest house at the back and a little studio built for Nina to practice her singing, besides the garage which was at the back of the house. Nina was put on a weekly salary of a very generous amount. Bills, too, were shared, although she didn’t really do much with the salary he gave her. She took Pilates classes, she had a private gym tutor in their well-structured gym because she always had to look toned. Josh didn’t like sloppiness. Fitness was one of the little things she could do to stand out among the plastic surgery New York wives. She never had lipo or botox, and she ate very healthily. Her boobs sat very fine. Occasionally, people would come up to her to touch her and ask if it was real or not . She had a personal shopper to source quality items for her closet. She was a billionaire's wife, she had to look the part. She was obsessed with shoes. She made sure her closet was filled with Jimmy Choo’s . When she was bored at home she’d wear them and pretend to walk down a fashion runway while singing and entertaining her imaginary crowd. Nina loved skirts. Her love for mini-skirts was amusing. Her go dress was mini skirts paid with crop tops or a corset, some heels or long boots and a jacket. Sometimes Josh would compliment her, sometimes he’d just smirk at her and ignore her. ‘Was there anything she did that he loved?’ She thought. Her sister Sweden would come to visit and would steal some of them away. Nina would barely notice until she was ready to wear it. Amidst the fancy life of Pilates and private tutors and fancy luxury mansions in gated estates was a very depressed girl who craved nothing but a stable career and some love and assurance. ‘Was that too much to ask for ?’ She wondered. ‘ There are girls that don’t have luxury mansions and fancy dining but are happy. But look at me, depressed and lonely in a very large mansion. Sometimes the thought of never having to live in luxury again scared her from ever leaving. She was advised by one of her childhood friends to stay behind and gather as much wealth as she could before she left. But would she keep risking wealth, luxury and comfort at the expense of her happiness and peace? How long was this going to continue?
