Chapter 3

(Astrid POV) My head is spinning. I feel like having a horrible stomach ache. I want to puke my gut out. Elliot Mateo Moore… Why is he alive?! I once again sneak a peek at him. He looks different. His face seemed more mature. I searched hard but failed to see the same innocent happy face in him. He is the same guy but yet not the same. “So Mr. Moore. What do you say? It’s been long since you saw her, isn’t it?” Vincent said as I kept staring at him. His demeanor didn’t falter as he smirked and looked at Vincent. “Do you have any idea who you are messing with?” he said, a wave of dark aura filling around us. Vincent’s face faltered for a moment at his cold words but he managed to regain. “Oh, I know exactly who I am dealing with. But I think you are helpless now. You can clearly see I have an upper advantage here” he said as he walked to me. He took a huge chunk of my hair and pulled me back as I screamed in pain. This guy is really getting on my nerves. I swear I will go bald because of this guy. “So what do you say? You want to save your precious girlfriend?” he asked as I ground my teeth. “What is it that you need?” Elliot asked his face still void. “My brother. Samuel. You have captured him in the name of debt. I want him released from your custody. Once he reaches back home, I will release her” Vincent said as he walked back closer to the screen. “So you are his family, huh? I see both the brothers are foolish enough to get on my bad side” Elliot said as the latter ground his teeth and glared at him. “Aren’t you afraid that your girl will die?” Vincent asked as the man behind me punched me in the cheek. “Urgh” I groaned as I felt more metallic taste in my mouth. This is so annoying. Why should all the bad things happen to me? Why must I be the one who has to  always suffer? For 5 f*****g years I thought he was dead. Now he is in front of me not giving a s**t about what I’m feeling. I looked into his eyes as rage filled me. But he smirked at my reaction before looking at Vincent. He suddenly laughed as Vincent grew tensed. “Why should I be afraid of something that is not going to happen” he replied and honestly I couldn’t help but smirk at his words. My eyes fueled with rage as I wanted nothing more but to end this and go back home. I gave pressure to the toes of my right feet. Giving a little push with my left swiftly standing up on the process. My right leg collided with the face of the man who stood next to me. I jumped through the loop of my back tied hand bringing it to the front. Everyone was shocked for a second and using this as an advantage; I took the knife from the unconscious man and looped my tied hand over Vincent. The knife in my hand was now pointed from the front to his neck, his body trapped inside the loop of my hand. He tensed as he felt the sharp tip of the knife on his throat. “One movement and your boss dies,” I said, my voice void. My eyes moved around the room as the men looked at me. There were only 5 men in the room and 2 of them have a g*n. “Throw your weapons in my direction,” I said as they hesitantly threw the weapon near me. “You over there,” I said to the man standing closest to Dave. “Untie him,” I said but he stood there hesitant. “Want me to kill him?” I said pressing the knife deeper to the boss’s neck. “Bullshit! Do what she says bastard!” Vincent suddenly said as he felt the pain from the wound made. The man immediately rushed to Dave and untied him. “Dave, you alright?” I asked as he nodded, his eyes filled with many emotions. “Dave. I want you to tie these men to the pole. Can you do that?” I asked as he stared at me. I feel so bad for him. He got into such a mess because of me. He took in a deep breath before walking to the men. His face was void but I could see the fear in his eyes. “If any of you try some kind of dirty trick, I will kill your boss on the spot,” I said as they nodded. I watched cautiously as Dave tied them tightly to the pole. Once he was done I released my hold of Vincent, pushing him forward. I then hit him in the back of his head as he fell unconscious on the ground. “Take this knife and cut the rope,” I said referring to my tied hands. Dave with shaking hands untied my hands and I rubbed the aching wrists. “Good work, babe. I knew you wouldn’t forget our training lessons” I heard Elliot’s voice from the video call. I grunted and turned to the damn video looking at him with fury. “f**k you!” I said before pulling the plugs and ending his call. “Let's get out of here,” I said to Dave before walking out. “What about them?” he asked. “Don’t worry Elliot’s men will take care of it” I said as we walked out of the building. It was an abandoned warehouse and the sun has also set. I cursed before making way to an SUV parked in the side. “It’s locked,” Dave said but by that time I used my hairpin and unlocked it. “Get in,” I said as he mutely nodded and got in. I took the ignition wire and battery wire before connecting it. The car boomed into life and I drove away from the place. The car drive was silent and I could feel Dave glancing at me from time to time. “I’m sorry you got into this mess,” I said as I looked at him in pity. By this time we had reached the city. The traffic was much less since it was almost midnight. “Who was the guy?” he asked and I knew he meant the man in the video call. “Someone I don’t want to talk about,” I said as I stopped the car. “Stay here,” I said before going to the dispensary. I bought a full first aid kit before entering the car. We were silent as I cleaned his wound and bandaged him. “You are wounded too,” he said as his hand rose to touch my bruised cheek. “I’m fine. I will take care of it” I said as I slapped his hand away. I dropped him home before making my way to the hostel. “Where the hell were you?!” my roommate hissed as I entered my room. “Sorry. I went somewhere” I said as she gasped. “Are you alright?!” she asked as she scanned my wounds. “I’m fine. Don’t worry about me.” I said as I ignored and walked to my bed. I didn’t even bother to remove my dirty clothes before I fell asleep haunted by the nightmares of seeing the one person I thought I will never ever see again.
