CHAPTER FOUR

1470 Words
Blaze How is that possible? Isn’t she a human? Does she know about it? Who are you, Clair? “Do you think she knows about it?” “I don’t know Josh, but I will find out everything about her.” “I think I know how to help with that,” Josh said with a crazy look I recognize so well. “Nah, I don’t need your help, not with that look on your face. The last time I saw that look on your face was when you helped me stalk my little sister and it was a disaster.” “Oh come on alpha this time will be different you just need to follow these ten steps and boom you will know everything about Clair.” “I might regret saying this later but… whatever. Which ten steps?” I asked, unsure if I should listen to Josh. “You won’t regret it, don't worry.” “OK back to the main issues, so this ten steps is called TEN TECHNIQUE TO UNMASK A GIRL.” “Why does your ten steps sound like we are going undercover?” “I wish we were going undercover because that would be simpler, to discover a girl is one of the most difficult things ever,” Josh explained like he is a professional in the aspect of discovering a girl. “I will pretend that what you just said made sense, so what’s the first step? “I know my technique made sense otherwise you wouldn’t have asked for the first step. *laugh* anyways before I tell you what the first step entails, you have to get her number first.” “Okay then” I replied “Excuse me sir, do you care for another drink? The bartender asked, facing me. “Yes, I would like another glass of margarita,” I replied, gulping down the last drink in my glass. “Ok sir, what about you sir?” He asked, referring to Josh this time. “I would like a glass of margarita as well,” Josh replied. “Right away,” the bartender said as he left to fetch the drinks. “You usually drink a martini, Josh.” “Well, I feel like enjoying the same flavour with my Alpha” “Oh look, they are looking at us,” Josh said with a wide grin on his face. “Why are you smiling?” I asked. “Do you know her name?” Josh asked. “Who? “The sexy lady close to Clair,” Josh said pointing in Clair’s direction “I don’t know her, I only know she is Clair’s friend. Is that why you’re smiling?” “Of course yes, who else will I be smiling at? Clair? I’m still young and I don’t have a death wish.” Josh said, feigning sadness “That’s a wise word for someone as foolish as you,” I said, pretending to be serious. “I know, I know, Clair is yours and she is off limits but I didn’t know that’s what you think of your best friend, a foolish person? I want a breakup, *fake sob* I don’t want to be a best friend to a person who thinks I’m foolish. *more fake sob*” Oh lord! Not again! I can’t with this man. *sigh* “Can you stop being a drama king for once? Why do I feel like I’m friends with a child every time we’re together.” “But you like it, hehe,” Josh said laughing “Why would I like a grown-up a** man acting like a drama king every time? I asked sarcastically. “I know you do, you never admit it.” He replied with a knowing smile. “Whatever” I hissed The truth is that I did like Josh's playful side sometimes because every time I am around him he makes me forget all my worries and shortcomings. He has this effect on almost everyone he meets and he knows it. He likes to be himself because he believes that life is too short to be serious every time. The last time he said that I told him that humans are the ones that have short lives. He told me that even supernatural beings have short lives too, not every supernatural being dies of old age. Some die in wars, accidents, or in the hands of their enemies. I think that makes some sense, I didn’t tell him that though. Josh is a ray of sunshine, he shines on any and every gloomy person he meets. If the world had more people like him I’m sure the world would have been easier to live in. “Here are your drinks sir, enjoy.” The bartender said as he placed the drinks on the cocktail table and left. We took a sip from the glass and placed it back on the table. “Alpha, alpha! Look, they are coming!” “Yes, I can see them coming, stop squealing already.” Clair looked magnificent as she strode majestically toward us. I couldn’t see anyone else in the room, all I could see was her ethereal figure. Once again I was having that pull toward her, my thoughts were growing wilder and it was becoming so hard restraining myself from the thought of running toward her, carrying her out of the room, taking her to a private place, and showing her things I could do to her to make her scream my name in satisfaction. My gaze was fixed on her as she walked closer and closer to where I was seated. I think Josh noticed that I was almost drooling over her when he whispered to my ears to bring me back from my fantasies. “Put yourself together man, I wish I had a mirror with me so that you could see your face. You looked like a puppy drooling over a big fat bone.” Josh said, bringing me back to reality. “Shut up Josh” “I know you meant thank you not shut up, you are welcome.” “JOSH!” “Ok, ok, I won’t say anything again.” “Better!” I said as Clair walked up to me and took a seat beside me. “Hi Clair, you took quite some time, I almost felt jealous of you friend,” I said. You were jealous not almost, my wolf said to me and he was right. “*laugh* really? I was gone for less than twelve minutes. She said, giggling. Her giggle sounded like a melodious song, it was the most beautiful giggle I have ever heard. Everything about this woman was so attractive and alluring. Clair When Karly went to the restroom, she got an email from one of the companies she helped me secure an interview from. That was why she rushed excitedly to the bar to break the news but she didn’t expect to see me with Blaze. We went to a less noisy corner where she showed me the email. We replied to the emails and scheduled a date for the interview. After we were done, we started walking toward the bar when I noticed Blaze’s gaze fixed on me, he looked hypnotised. Was I having that effect on him? I loved it! The way he was staring at me like I was the only person he could see in the room. He wasn’t the only one feeling that way, I was too. All I wanted was to jump into his strong arms and kiss his delicious-looking lips but I knew I couldn’t do that YET. I walked closer to him and sat down beside him. Back to the present. “Firecracker this man close to me here Is my best friend Josh. Josh, this is firecracker.” “Hi firecracker, Blaze has not kept quiet about you since yesterday, I’m sure he even dreamt about you because I kinda heard him talking in his sleep,” Josh said, and I blushed a little I hope they didn’t notice. “Shut up Josh! And you can’t call her firecracker, I’m the only one who can call her that. “It's okay Josh you can call me Clair and this is my best friend Karly.” “Thanks, Clair,” Josh said, winking at me and I winked back. I glanced at Blaze who looked like he wanted to snap his best friend’s neck. Gotcha! I said inwardly as I smiled at him. “Hi gorgeous, I’m Blaze’s friend. Let’s hit the dance floor so we could give them some privacy. Shall we?” Josh asked, whispering to Karly. “Sure handsome” Karly replied and they stood up walking toward the dance floor.
