It was clear that she must leave this house tonight before Miss Kane realised that she was unguarded. She must leave or face a life of shame. Raising herself from the floor, she went towards the front door. She paused only to take a cloak and to snatch the second purse from the table where the Viscount had put it. The cloak and the purse belonged to him, but she had no compunction in taking them. One day she would return the cloak and repay the money to him.
