CHAPTER TEN The carriage rattled on through elegant streets and then across Hyde Park. Lord Mannerly sat opposite Andrea, staring out of the window, his brows knitted like thunder. She did not dare ask him where they were going. At last they came to a stop in a street overlooking the River Thames. Lord Mannerly sprang out and held the door open for Andrea. A handsome double-fronted house stood secluded behind an iron gate. The smell of a river at low tide hung in the air. A stern-featured housekeeper admitted them. “Miss Kane, this is Miss Clerefall,” Lord Mannerly said roughly. “Please take her to the top bedroom.
