Chapter 7

2275 Words
This weekend with Shane had been an amazing weekend. I honestly wish that we could have stayed in that bubble forever, but now it is Monday again and we all have to go back to school. Except for the one time my stalker phoned me he was quiet this weekend or at least I think he was. There is no way of me really knowing. He can be watching me all the time and I won’t even know, but at least I felt safe with Shane at my side. The other thought that keeps creeping into my mind is that him being quiet is a bad thing. His last song was a clear warning of what he wanted or is going to do to me. His threats aren’t just words, he puts actions to it. So all this silence is going to build up to something big and soul shattering. I decided that I should rather start driving to school. It is a ridiculous short distance by car and the amount of energy it would take for the car to be started is more than the energy it will charge back up whist I’m driving, so in the long run I’ll be damaging my cars battery. I guess it is still worth it. I’m afraid of walking alone in the morning I can be grabbed by anyone at any time and no one will know at first. When they do eventually find out it would be most likely to late. So I got in my car, it’s not a new car, it’s a second hand car that my mom bought for me on my last birthday, so that I could start practicing. People usually say your first car should be second hand as you are most likely going to bump it at some point. I haven’t gotten a mark on my car since I got it though. I made my way to school and made a easy job of parking before I went searching for Essie where she usually waited for me. I saw her waving at me like a complete i***t when I was quit far away from her. If she keeps this up her arms will be tired when I reach her.   “Hey almost birthday girl!” She squealed hugging me, I had completely forgotten about my birthday. I can’t believe it’s my birthday on Wednesday. I’m probably expected to do something. I didn’t do anything last year, since I knew my mom was getting me the car, I couldn’t get it over my heart to ask her for more. I mean she is our sole provider, she doesn’t have any help from anyone. The other thing is my mom already said that money is a bit tight this month. Maybe I can invite everyone over for a movie night, just our group, which usually included Bradley. I can’t invite him over when I’m not sure if I can trust him. I could then unconsciously be inviting my stalker into my house. Movies would be fine, I’ll use my pocket money to buy snacks and we can watch the movies on netflix. That way it won’t cost my mother anything.   “Hi Essie.” I greeted her back less enthusiastically. The other thing I need to consider is the upcoming dance. I’ll have to get a dress for it, so I’ll sacrifice a birthday party for a beautiful dress then.   “So what is the plans for your birthday? How about a big pool bash. We could invite everyone to your house! We can even make the cutest mocktails that you have seen in your life! I also saw this amazing photo where they made like a fake beach by getting sand thrown on the lawn and setting up a volley ball net. That new shop that opened up has amazing floaters. We can get a bunch of them like the unicorn and flamingo one…oh there was even a skull one, How cool is that. We’ll just have to set up a sun tan lotion station, cause sunburn is so unattractive! What will we do for snacks? Maybe we can cut out umbrella shaped pineapple pieces and make fruit lollies. This is going to be epic!” She hardly took breaks between sentences, their is no way I could actually stop her rant. What she has in mind is crazy insane, not only would it cost me a fortune to do all that, the work that will go into actually preparing everything will take forever. Not to mention the clean up of it all.     “Sorry Essie, I’d rather have a quiet night in. We could do a movie night. Just the four of us.” I tried explaining to her.   “So you’re really not going to invite Bradley this year? It is the first time that he’ll miss your birthday. Also the four of us alone is kind of awkward. I don’t think your plan is going to work out, sorry though.” She has a point. Emmett and Shane would rather fight each other than spend time together.   “Maybe you can think of something else for us to do, also maybe you should reconsider inviting Bradley. It’s better to have him in your eyesight where you can keep an eye on him rather than you not knowing where he is or what he is doing. Take the night and think about it and then tomorrow we can talk about it.” She said linking her arm with mine and pulling me into the school. I’d have to talk to Shane about all of it.   The first couple of periods went by quickly, before I knew it was lunch. I had Messaged Shane that I wanted to talk to him during lunch. I waited at my locker for him, putting away my books and getting out the ones I’ll need next.   “Hi baby.” Shane said before placing his arms around my middle so that I didn’t jump. I smiled as he hugged my back against his chest. He placed a kiss against my cheek.   “What did you want to talk about?” He asked as he placed a kiss in my neck. I turned around in his arms, placing my head against his chest.   “It’s my birthday on Wednesday, so I wanted to just have a movie night where the four of us got together, but Essie said that the four of us aren’t a good combination. She suggested that I invite Bradley, since he has never missed my birthday…She says it is better for us to keep him in eyesight. She also want me to do a pool party, rather than a movie.” I told him not lifting my head from his chest since I didn’t have the guts to face his expression.   “It’s your birthday, you get to choose what you want to do. She has a point about Bradley though, but I first want to know if your number is on his call log and if he has those songs. At least then I’ll be able to trust him a little better. I don’t want you alone with him for even a second if we do this.” That is actually a very smart plan. At least if he is willing to give Emmett his phone to check we’ll have some peace of mind when having him around.   “I do want to have a pool party, but the money is tight at the moment and I need to choose my battles. Essie doesn’t understand. Her family is well of, she usually get whatever she wants. I’ll do a pool party with just us, nothing extravagant. I just don’t want to do crowds now with everything that is happening.” He rested his chin on top of my head.   “I get it babe, don’t worry okay. No matter what I’ll protect you.”   During my next two periods I Google searched the lyrics I could remember to try and find the songs that he had played for me. I couldn’t get all of them. I wrote down the names of the songs I could find and during our second lunch period I hand the list over to Emmett. He knew what to do with it.   Emmett POV     We are skipping the next period   I messaged Bradley, during the break after I got the lists of songs from Vanya. Things can probably get back to normal after I cleared his name. It’s not nice that everyone is icing him out, it’s even worse when he says that: ‘it’s okay, I get why people are acting like this. It’s human nature. Hell its the rule of high school. I’ll prove to Vanya it wasn’t me and then we’ll live happily ever after, you’ll see.’ Even after everything he is still in love with her. If a girl ever excused me of this bullshit, she wouldn’t see me again. Not a chance in hell. I’d rather find someone else. I’m so glad that I have Essie she is doesn’t create drama at all. Vanya has been causing drama her whole life. It’s not like she knows it, but people talk this isn’t a big town, it’s not a small one either so gossip doesn’t spread that fast, but If all the kids know something is up then all their friends will know and all the parents and the parents friends and the grandparents. So the list goes on. I’ve heard my parents talk about Vanya’s situation. Her mom had fallen in love with the wrong guy. That one guy that everyone knew would never settle down, but he was Russian and she came from a Russian home, they clicked and then she got pregnant and he left. Everyone then always saw Vanya as the illegitimate child. The other thing everyone talks about is how she is always alone and her mother neglects her. I get that she works hard to take care of Vanya and not everyone’s parents have the time for their kids. Then Vanya grew up and even I have to admit that she is drop dead gorgeous. She is what most guys would want, she is so tiny, she seems breakable. Then she has that white hair that falls flawlessly over her milky skin, plumb kissable lips, a button nose, defined cheekbones and hypnotic eyes. I love Ezlyn completely, but I can see why people have an obsession with Vanya. So many guys have asked her out that I lost track. I kinda get satisfaction every time she rejects them, except when she does it to Bradley, they would make a good couple. Vanya just cast a spell on everyone. Even grown ass men stop and stare. She has been the cause of a lot of relationship fight, unknowingly of course…She isn’t allowed over to my house…   “Hey man, why did you want to ditch?” Bradley said as we started to walk to the edge of the school. We usually sit there under the trees when we ditch.   “I want to talk to you about the Vanya thing. Seems things haven’t calmed down after all.”   “We could have caught this guy by now, but no you won’t let me stake out her house to stop him!” Bradley exclaimed, looking pissed at me. I’m just trying to help him. I swear this guy will get himself in trouble.   “He wasn’t at her house as far as we know. He’s been calling her and playing her threatening songs.” I told him calmly. I’m building up to asking him for his phone. I don’t want him to feel like I’m blaming or turning on him.   “So they know that it isn’t me, because she would have recognized my voice.” and now I have given him false hope I honestly suck at this.   “He never spoke to her, listen I need to take a look on your phone to see if you have called her. I also have a list of the songs…I have to check if you have any of them, but if you don’t then at least we have ruled you out for now.” I explained the situation to him.   “I can’t give you my phone. It’s private. I have photos of my clients on there. They expect me to not share their photos.” Bradley works as a photographer when ever he can doing couple shoots, family photos and he even started to branch into newborn shoots even though he hated it.   “That is a crappy excuse it’s not like I’m going to send the s**t to me. Just hand it over; you want to clear your name and this is it.” He took his phone out of his pocket and held it in his hands weighing his options. He then sighed, unlocked the phone and handed it over to me. His wallpaper is a photo of Vanya laughing. It was taken here at school. Still she didn’t know that it was taken. I just shook my head. I searched her number in his call log. I know it by heart because Ezlyn never answers her phone. Her number didn’t show up. Next I went to his file manager and searched for the song. He didn’t have any of them on his phone. I then went to his gallery and found a folder named ‘Mine’ it was full of photos of her. Most of them was taken here at school and the others when we were out as a group. At least these photos weren’t taken in secret, but still there was 500 of them.   “You need to delete those photos of her or move them somewhere private, because if this gets any worse and you are caught with them it won’t look good for you.”
