Rick lay on his back on the cold hard cave floor. It was the middle of the night but sleep eluded him. He stared into the dark, listening to all the night sounds around. It was not the first time he slept on the cold hard stone surface, but for some reason, the surface felt more uncomfortable to the point of pain that night. And it was all because he missed her. He could hear the steady breathing of Eva and Owen on the other side of the cave. Their combined scents saturated every molecule of air in the cave, and Rick detested it. He had hoped the scent of Sue would have lingered longer to help ease his senses. He sighed and tried to make himself a little more comfortable, hoping it would help him find sleep.
