Decisions, Decisions
Corey
“Are you sure?” Jacob asked as he glanced over at me. The cafeteria was still relatively quiet, but I looked around me to make sure that no one was listening in on our conversation. The last thing I wanted was to become the hot topic of gossip in this small town.
“Shush and yes,” I answered him as I turned my attention back to the breakfast waffle on my plate. I mentally counted the calories but decided that today was a cheat day. I had suffered enough.
“I think it’s great, Corey…but how are you going to choose?” Jacob questioned as he leaned closer. I sighed as I set down my fork. I shouldn’t have brought it up over breakfast.
“I mean…do I have to choose?” I asked him curiously. I wasn’t entirely sure what people would think if they found out I was dating not one, but two men. I liked both Jack and Hank, and they had both become good friends. I had deemed myself ready to start dating, but I couldn’t decide which one of them I wanted to date. So, I had come up with a plan to date them both. Secretly.
“Um…Corey…you know I love you, right?” I nodded at that as I picked up my fork and started eating. To hell with this conversation. My stomach was already growling and as much as I wanted my love life to begin – since it had died a painful death, thanks to Daniel – I wanted food more. “Look, I just don’t think leading them on is a good idea,” Jacob added, and I frowned. He was making this difficult and I didn’t like that.
“Jacob, stop,” I said with my mouth full. He shook his head and turned his attention to his own plate. We finished off in silence, and then we picked up on the conversation as we headed to our desks. “I never said anything about leading them on,” I said to him. Jacob shot me a look as he scoffed. “I’m serious, J…I just…I want to date them both and see…”
“Right, decisions, decisions,” he teased, and I groaned as I slapped his arm. “All I’m saying is…be careful, Corey. You are close to both of them and the last thing you want to do is lose them both,” he made a valid point, but that was exactly why I had to be careful. No public dates. No social gatherings. None of that will work. The three of us had hung out before, plenty of times, but that would have to come to an end. I couldn’t take the risk that they would talk to each other. About me. Once we were at our desks, I whisked out my phone and sighed. Three missed calls and two text messages. I didn’t want to, but I forced myself to read his messages.
Daniel: Corey, please. Please can we talk? I miss you so much!
Daniel: I hope you have a great day, Corey. I love you. Forever and always.
My heart skipped a beat, and I quickly went out of his text thread and went into my conversation with Jack. Last night we had chatted a bit, and it made me smile as I read the last few messages. Jack was tender with me. Sweet. I couldn’t wait to see what he was like when things turned heated.
Corey: Good morning sweetness! I hope you slept well, and I hope you have a fabulous day! Any plans for Friday? I was hoping we could have a night in at your place, and talk?
I sent off the message and then went into my thread with Hank. It was already pretty spicy between us because Hank was a total flirt. The man was s*x on legs, and he was hot as f**k. I didn’t bother to read our last few messages because, ten to one, I’d get a hard-on.
Corey: Good morning hot stuff! I hope you had a night filled with wet dreams about me! Be safe on the road today and when you get to work, please, pretty please, be safe! Any plans for Saturday? I was thinking about coming over to your place? Maybe have some dinner and talk?
I sent off the message and set my phone aside. Erik was due to come in at any minute and the last thing I wanted was for him to catch me on my phone. That would only create more problems. Problems I didn’t want or need.
“Ah…Corey…” I looked over to see Jacob staring at his computer screen with a frown.
“What?” I asked as I got up and headed over to him. I peered over his shoulder and my mouth fell open at the image he was viewing. Or more to the point, it wasn’t an image, it was a video. More specifically, security footage. “Ah, f**k,” I whispered as I hurried over to my desk. I opened my emails and there was the same email from Cole. Miller. Whatever. I watched the video and groaned. Judith Core was a sweet woman, but in the video, she was seen doing s****l acts on a fellow worker, Matthew Dolly. While there was no rule about mingling with office staff, Erik was big on this sort of thing. And why they thought it was ok to do it in the storage closet, was beyond me.
“Me or you?” Jacob asked, and I considered that for a minute. “You did it last time…so, technically it’s my turn,” he added, and I sighed. The only problem was that whenever Jacob got involved, he was away from his desk for hours because he couldn’t tell people to shut up.
“I’ll do it, I don’t feel like manning the phone for hours,” I remarked as I got up. Jacob rolled his eyes and waved at me as I headed toward Cole’s office. I needed to know if that was the only footage before I went to see Jaden. Ugh, what a way to start the day!
