The sun was not as harsh as when we first arrived but its rays toasted the back of my neck. As I walked, I kicked stones and dragged my feet. Maybe I did act like a child sometimes but it wasn’t my fault. My father had protected me from most of my responsibilities while growing up and shielded me from criticism.
