CHAPTER 27 - ALPHA IN DISGUISE

  RHYS   I stared at myself in the mirror, the reflection of a palace guard staring right back. Mars and Matilda had made it clear that I was on my own and I had to prove to them that I didn’t need anyone to be the Alpha. I could have just gone out as the Alpha King and shock the hell out of Wren but it wasn’t the right time. Slipping my phone into my pocket, I washed my face and put on my turban.   A passing guard stopped when he saw me leaving a servant’s room. Guards lived outside the palace and took shifts so they could see their families often. I was not supposed to be seen in a servant’s room.   “Hey you! What were you doing in there?”   Goddess, I had only worn that disguise for a minute and I had already gotten in trouble. The guard stood by, waiting for an explanation from me.
