Oliver P.O.V
I got home and before I could take off my jacket, I saw mother walking down the stairs with a suitcase in her hand. The big smile on her face was an obvious sign that she was happy, so I decided to tease her because I knew why she was happy.
“Mother” I called on her “You can't wait to give it to daddy right? I mean if I were you, I would have done far worse than you are doing now,” I was being sarcastic.
“You are one to talk, you don't even have a partner neither have you found your mate but you wanna act like you know it all, hmm?” she sighed.
I could sense that she was mocking me with her words but I couldn't care less, it isn’t my fault that I haven't found my mate yet.
They make it look as if not having a mate makes you less of a werewolf, but I'm here to prove them wrong. As I was lost in my thoughts, Mother tapped me
“ Cat got your tongue? I think I hit a nerve with my response,” She said with sheer disrespect. I couldn't let her have the last laugh so I said something I shouldn’t have.
“Well,” I started. “it's better to be without a mate than to have a mate who has cheated on me,” A sly smirk rested on my lips as she glared at me with anguish. Her eyes turned red and her claws were out, she looked like she was about to shred me to bits. You could feel how furious she was. The atmosphere of the room changed and before I could blink, she let out a growl and I knew that if I didn't try to calm her, I would be dead meat.
“Mother, can you calm the f**k down? Would you want to be forever remembered as the woman who killed her only child, because you couldn't control your emotions?” I told her in an attempt to pacify her.
“Oliver, the only thing stopping me from puling out your heart is that you're my child. But the next time you talk about your dad’s past mistakes or mention that witch’s name, I’d kill you without thinking about it," Mother warned.
“You wouldn't dare Tamaska! I'm your only child and even though you act as if I mean nothing to you, you still care about me,” I responded to her.
“Oh Oliver, you might be my only child but doesn't mean I can’t have another if I want to, so get off your high horse and start treating me with respect!”
“Yes ma” I grumbled and then left for my room.
As I walked to my room, I started to ponder what really happened between my dad, mother and the “witch” as Mother would call her. The only thing I knew was that dad cheated on her and almost left us for the other woman.
“And Mother wonders why I haven't found my mate,” I scoffed.
Everyone knew how Father loved Mother so for him to cheat on her, that speaks volumes and shows that love isn't enough or it was mother fault. That temper of her's would drive any man into another woman's arms. Still clouded with in my thoughts, Lucas knocked on my door and asked if he could come in.
“Lucas, you have seen all there's to see, so why act like a gentleman,” I teased him.
You could see how uncomfortable he got, everyone knows Lucas has always had a thing for me and Father wishes for him to be my mate, unfortunately I don't see him that way. To me, he is like a brother.
“Oliver please be serious. We don't have much time and your mother wouldn't stop nagging about us being late.”
“well if you had come up with an excuse, we won't be listening to Tamska’s rants,” I mumbled.
“If you had perfected your shifting, we won't be looking for an excuse Oliver. Everyone in your family can shift whenever they like whether it’s a full moon or not. But you, my friend still can't do it. Your father perfected his shifting when he was 16 so i wonder what's stopping you from perfecting it. No matter how accomplished you are if you don't perfect your shifting, you will still be a joke to the family and I promise you they aren't willing to leave the family business in your hands.”
Everything Lucas was saying was the unfiltered truth and he was getting to me. If I don't stop him from talking, we will definitely have a duel which wouldn't end well.
“Lucas!” I yelled walking towards him. “Are you mocking me right now?” I asked knowing fully well he wasn't mocking me but was just being worried about me.
“Oliver,” He sighed. “You know I will never mock your failures. I just want you to be the best that you can be,” He was concerned and I could tell.
“Better. Because it seemed like you were mocking me but I'm going to let it slide. Meanwhile help me get my luggage and let's go and catch up with mother before she bursts into flames”
Labyrinth’s P.O.V
I still couldn't forget about the incident that occurred at Cosmos club, I couldn't get that enthralling human’s number because of those miscreants who didn't know their place. I was going to lay low and do whatever business I had here but the Freemans didn't let that happen. Now they are going to see what happens to those who cross my path.
I picked up my phone to call Jayda and before I could do that, she walked in
“Lab, you won't believe this”
“Well I was about to call you and here you are, what is it that won't i believe?”
“After the incident in the club, I was so pissed and couldn't let it go. So I decided to find out more about The Freemans and I discovered something fascinating” She said looking all jolly.
“what's the fascinating thing you found?” I raised my eyebrow
“It's about Oliver Freeman.”
“Well go on. Don't keep me waiting," I urged her.
“So you know how no one knows what Oliver really looks like? Well I stayed up all night hacking the FBI system and boom I found something more than the appearance. Apparently, Oliver Freeman is a lady.”
“Hold up. Let me get this straight, what you are trying to say is that, Oliver is a she?” This was shocking
“Yes, she's a she,” Jayda replied
“Jayda, I need more details. How come she is called Oliver and why do people have the misconception of she being a he?”
“So it had to with something that happened in their family years ago. The Freemans had twins; Oliver and Olive, but an accident occurred which got Oliver killed. Mr Freeman made everyone believe that it was Olive who was killed because he needed to protect his position as the Chairman of Freeman Holdings, so they went ahead to disguise Olive as Oliver. But how they fooled the world, I’m yet to find that out.
“Damn! That's a deep level of catfishing going on in that family. And I thought Papa was power blind“ I sighed out but deep down, I was impressed.
“I need to meet with Lawrence and his men. We need to come up with a plan on how to get back at Freemans.” I stood “No one bites the tail of the lion and goes without getting wounded”
Third person P.O.V
Jayda decided that since Labyrinth was to meet with Lawrence, why not kill two birds with one stone by fishing out those who were working against The cartel.
Jayda called Lawrence “Get everything ready, today, the rats roaming freely in our house will be caught. Also get some body bags ready because it seems some person's aren't going back home to their family”
“One thing the Armani family doesn't forgive is betrayal and disloyalty” Jayden added.
Lawrence was quite shaken by all he was hearing, he actually thought they were going to give them just a warning and nothing more.
“But I've known those men for almost a decade and they treat me like family. How do I explain to their family that they got killed?” He asked, concerned.
“Well they should have remained loyal to the Unfazed Cartel, but they sold it to the highest bidder. If we were back in Italy, everyone in their family would be dead including children and women. But Labyrinth is different from his father, they should be grateful that he is showing them mercy by keeping their families alive. So stop with the silly questions and do as you are told. This is an order, Lawrence” Jayda was angry.
"Wait Labyrinth knows about this?" Lawrence asked surprised.
"Yes he is aware, he was the one who even figured who the spies were," Jayden replied.
"Woah and he kept quiet about it? he acted like he knew nothing about what was going on. wow I'm impressed," Lawrence said.
“Time to play some chess” Jayden said with the most evil laughter.
