Chapter 6
Elle
I wake up to a wonderful scent hitting my nose, I remember this scent in my thoughts.
Why am I lying on the couch though and who is in my apartment? God my mind is so foggy right now, it's always foggy the first few minutes after I wake up.
I hear steps walking towards me and Cody appears in the doorway between the kitchen and the living room. Right. He came home yesterday, and I asked him to move in. It's all starting to come back to me now, and a smile spreads across my face.
My whole body fills with love and warmth as I look at Cody. He really is a sight to behold.
He still has the clothes he put on yesterday night. His hair is ruffled, so I know that he can't have been up for a very long time. Even with bed head, he is the most handsome man in the world. God, how is it even possible to be this handsome? I guess everyone thinks that of their boyfriends and girlfriend though. But Cody, wow.
"Hey, beautiful" Cody says, smiling big.
"He ... Y", I say with the word getting interrupted by a big yawn.
Cody laughs and I allow myself to smile shyly. Only Cody can get this kind of smile on my face.
"What's smelling soooo good?" I ask, I am really curious.
"Breakfast", Cody says. "You hungry?"
Before I get to answer, my stomach starts to rumble, I guess that's more of an answer. Causing Cody to laugh again.
God, I love his laugh.
"I guess that answers the question", he says, walking up to me.
He sits down on the couch beside me, grabs my waist, and pulls me close to him. Really close. No, he puts me in his lap.
"I've missed you so much Ellie", he says.
When we were kids he used to call me something else. He used to call me Ellie, he thought it sounded cute, but as time went by, he thought that maybe it was a childhood nickname, so he started to call me by my name instead because it sounds more grown-up and is a beautiful name according to him. But then he started calling me Ellie again, on special occasions.
I never give Cody a nickname. I want to say his whole name. First of all, it's not a very long name, so it doesn't even matter, and second of all, I like his name. He doesn't need a nickname.
"I've missed you more than you can ever know", I whisper, leaning my forehead against his.
He presses his lips against mine and we end up in a make-out session. I don't know how long we sit here and kiss, but after a while, I feel a bitter and sticky smell in my nose.
"What's burning?" I ask between kisses.
"Oh no! The buns!" Cody shouts, flying off the couch so I get tossed back, laughing.
Wait... Did he say buns? Did he make buns?
And just like that, I'm in the kitchen, just as Cody takes out the buns from the oven.
But because I have bird eyes, I notice that Cody already made it once.
I run-up to the kitchen island and crashes with my stomach in one of those bar chairs and whimper in pain. But no matter that, I grab a bun. I take a big bite and feel how it melts in my mouth.
"Careful Elle", Cody says.
"Do you know how long it has been since I had one of these?" I ask, looking at him as I take another bite.
"Let me guess ... Six months?"
"Well duh!" I say rolling my eyes.
The cafe only sells these when Cody is here to bake them. No one else can make them as good as Cody can. And when he's here to bake them, the cafe is so crowded that you have difficulty breathing in there. They are very popular to make sandwiches of, they are wheat buns and are so good.
"People are going to get crazy down at the cafe you know", I tell him. "And here I am, having the privilege to eat them free of charge!"
Cody laughs and I just roll my eyes, laughing as well. He stretches his hand for a bun but I slap away his hand.
"No! These are mine, you can eat the burned once!" I tell him, being fully serious because I am actually. I don't wanna eat burned buns, he can eat them himself, and I can have these.
"You're serious", Cody says, and it's not a question, it's a statement.
Most people would think that I'm joking, but Cody knows me too well, he knows that I'm not joking.
"Duh!" I say, sticking out my tongue to him.
He grabs my tongue with his fingers.
"Nooo, bawhat are you doubling?" I ask.
"Well if you're not watching out, your tongue may get in trouble", Cody says smiling slyly.
"Oh yeah?" I ask cocky.
"Yeah".
"How?"
Cody lets go of my tongue but press his lips against mine and sticks his tongue inside my mouth where our tongues begin to wrestle.
Oh so he wants it this way, huh? Well, game on!
Cody puts his hands on my waist and helps me up on the kitchen island, where I now sit while our tongues keep on wrestle and my hands start to explore Cody's hair and I moan, quite loudly.
I manage to push out Cody's tongue out of my mouth and we gasp for air with our foreheads leaning on each other before we start kissing again.
This time I stick my tongue inside Cody's mouth and I pull his hair, causing him to moan even louder than I did. I smile into the kiss, and then so does Cody.
"Game over", he pants and pulls away as I win the wrestling fight between our tongues.
"Not until I say so", I say, putting my hand on his neck, pulling him close again.
"Yeah?" He asks cockily.
"Yeah!" I say and crash my lips onto his again.
I just love Cody so much. I never want this to end. And I hope it won't. And that's the thing. I can only survive on my hope right now, 'cause that's the only thing I have left.
