Every part of me was on edge. I was trying to ignore the way my body was tingling from being pressed against Sage’s and concentrate on the voices ahead of us, but there was something going on that I couldn’t understand. It was just fun teasing, right? Flirting, the same as I’ve been doing most of my teenage years. None of it was ever serious, none of it really meant anything. None of them was the one. But this…why was this different? Why did this feel…different? Once again, I tried my best to shove the thoughts away, the dangerous thoughts that weren’t welcome right now, if ever. I didn’t want to dwell on what I was starting to see slowly inside my heart. I wouldn’t be able to bear it, knowing I wasn’t going to stay here.
