Upstairs in my room I turned set my ipod on the home station and turned on some music. Once I had Kings of Leon playing in the back ground I moved to my desk and roused my laptop from sleep mode. Clicking the icon for the internet I waited patiently for the screen to pop up. Typing the url for f*******: I waited for the page to load and then typed in my log-in information before hitting the submit button. I had twelve friend requests, four messages and twenty-seven notifications. Thirteen of the notifications were annoying game invites which I quickly deleted. Five more were comments from our mother on pictures of my sister and myself from our childhood. The rest were just likes on old pictures of myself, curtesy of Mike. Next I checked my inbox. The first message was from Mike, go figure. Hey I was just looking through the newspaper and saw that there is a new movie in theaters called Romance Island. It looks pretty promising in means of entertainment. I was wondering if you wanted to go witih me this weekened. I clicked his message and began typing a response back to him. Thank you for the invitation Mike but I already have plans for this weekend with Alice. Sorry. After I clicked send I opened the next message, this was from mom. Sophia are you alright! I got a call from your father saying that you were missing after going into the forest. They found blood and your ipod! Please write me or call me back! I've tried messaging your sister and calling her and even tried to get ahold of your father with no replies to either. If you are okay please please please call me!!!!! I quickly clicked below the message and began typing. Mom calm down, I am fine. I just got lost but I am alright. Only a few scratches but its nothing that a few bandaids and some antibiotics can't fix. Sorry about not replying. Dad is working and both Izzy and myself are going to school and working. I love you mom and try to relax. I pressed send and then checked the other two messages were from Alice who was reminding me about Friday and Jessica who wanted details on the fight after school. I responded in accordance to each message and then moved on to attend to the friend requests. All of them were kids from school, which I happily accepted. The requests that most intrigued me were Alice and the rest of the Cullen family. Clicking onto Alice's page I read her about me. It was short but to the point. Fashion, shopping, family. Upon reading further into her profile I came to realize that she and Esme -her adopted mother- ran a business together. It was a fashion store in Seattle that carried highend labels and a clothing line developed by Alice herself. For being so young she was so well together in her life. Sighing I quickly clicked out of her profile and logged off before putting my laptop back to sleep. I had homework to get to and despite not wanting to do it I buckled down and began working on it. It took me two hours to finish my math and biology homework. I hadn't began to work on my English because it was just rereading a book I could recite in my sleep. Half an hour after I finished my homework there was a knock on my bedroom door. "Yeah?" I called out. "Uh, dinner is ready. I have fish and potato patties." "Okay, I will be down in a twenty minutes." I replied as I stared up at the canopy of my bed. I had other things on my mind. Shopping.... shoes.... Friday. Then the bedroom door opened and Bella stuck her head in. "Are you sure? Dad is supposed to be home soon and you know how he eats leftovers." As quickly as I turned my head, my nose filled with the amazing aroma of dinner. Seconds after my stomach began rumbling reminding me that I didn't really eat well today. "What is for dinner again?" I asked. "Halibut and potato patties." "Potato patties?" I scrunched up my face at her in confusion. I have never heard of them before. "I made them before, remember last Thanksgiving when we had all those mashed potatoes left over. It's basically fried potatoes." I jumped to my feet as I remembered the amazing taste of mashpotatoes being fried to a crisp in coconut oil. I wanted that in my stomach more than anything. I quickly wrenched open my bedroom door and ran down the hall and descended the stairs. I made my way to the kitchen and grabbed a clean plate from the cabinet and flipped a fish fillet and two potato patties onto it before I grabbed a fork and began shoveling food into my mouth. "Thanks Izzy." I grumbled through a mouthfull of potato. "This is so damn delicious." "Normally is." "Unless dad cooks of course." I laughed. Bella began laughing along with me, only to stop when the front door opened. "Girls, I'm home." dad called out. He came into the kitchen, his gun holster in his hands. He sniffed the air with interest as he set it down on the counter and then helped himself to the food. "Thanks for dinner Bells." he said as he speared some fish onto his fork. "Hey!" I called out. "How do you know I didn't cook it?" I asked before taking another bite. I watched him take a bite and chew for a few seconds before he looked at Bella who was doing the same. "We are all eating it aren't we?" I laughed out of amusement. "Okay, you got me." I replied as I took another bite. "You must be proud huh?" I added after a few moments of chewing my food. "Of what?" he mumbled. I rose my eyebrows, smirking slightly as I did so. "That your oldest daughter took after you when it came to cooking skills." "Eh, my only response to that is when it comes to dating, don't try and impress a guy by cooking for him." My father replied smugly. "Yeah like I really need to worry about impressing a guy with magical cooking skills." My father dropped his fork before covering his face with his hands. "Oh my god, Sophia please tell me you are at least being safe." "What are you talking about?" "Dad thinks you are having s*x for attention Sophia." Bella rose to her feet and silently and washed her dish before turning to face us. "I am going to go finish my homework and then turn in for the night." Ignoring her last comment I turned to look at my dad, eyes wide. "Dad I am not doing any of that." "I'm not going to lecture you about it or judge you. You are basically a grown woman." "I'm sixteen dad, and I can promise you that I am not doing that." "Well I am just saying Sophers, if you are just be safe." "Dad I don't even date." "If you need any contraceptives I will get them, birth control, condoms." "DAD! I'M GAY!" I shouted to stop his rambling about s*x and the latter. He finally stopped and looked at me. "You don't like men...." I shook my head wearily. "I don't know what I like dad that is why I don't date. I've never had any feelings for any guys before so I figured." "You figured you didn't like them." My father scratched his head. "Maybe you just haven't seen a guy you are interested in." I shrugged my shoulders. "Uh, this conversation is getting a little weird now." My father rose to his feet and dumped his plate into the sink before grabbing a beer from the fridge. "I think we passed weird five minutes ago." He took a swig. "Night kid." he said before going into the living room and turning on the television. I heard a sports announcer talking about the Royals and Mariners game. Royals lost by two. Sighing, I ran my fingers through my hair and headed back upstairs. I did my night hygiene and climbed into my bed before covering up with my duvet. With the recent conversation between my dad and myself on my mind I began to wonder. Maybe my father was right. Maybe I just never came across a guy that held my attention. Closing my eyes to go to sleep I saw a face. His face. What did it mean?
