Nila  Alvin’s stern interruption stopped his wife’s outburst. She clamped up, pursed her lips and glowered at him.  “Can we at least have dinner in peace without you trying to micromanage our daughter’s life? Let her choose who she wants to spend her life with,” Alvin continued.  Nila wanted to jump up and hug her father. He is usually quite docile but he has limits to his patience too. She settled with squeezing her father’s hand in gratitude.  “Fine, this is what I get for caring about my daughter’s future happiness, don’t ask me to do anything else then,” Lalitha said before standing up and storming off.  There was an uncomfortable silence at the table.  “Let’s eat, ignore her,” Alvin told his guests. Raj and Jaden looked decidedly uncomfortable while Devan was just awed to watch
