Chapter 7

Zane's Point of View I'm standing on the training grounds and watching the warriors train but my thoughts keep going to her. It took me a while but eventually I realized I made a stupid mistake and came for her. Only to find out she left to go live with an aunt 2 months before. Nobody wanted to tell me where she went, which I completely understood. Even Jake was reluctant to help me find her. We knew his mate, Megan, knew where she was but she told Jake she'd never help me find her friend. Not after how I treated her. She covered her tracks well everytime she left the pack and I had no leads. Jake often updated me on her after they had a phone call. I desperately wanted to speak to her but he refused to give me her number. Saying that would be to easy. I needed to do this on my own. Just before the attack Jake came to me about a phone call they had. He informed me that my mate had a son, a son that both she and Megan hid from him. He only found out by accident. I think back to our conversation. "I need to tell you something. But keep an open mind." Jake said after stepping into my office and closing the door. I frowned at him and nodded. "What is it?" "It's about Shay.. Megan called her to tell her about the engagement, and.. Well she has a son." I struggled to swallow. "A son? Are you sure?" He frowns and nods. "Yes. Neither she nor Megan ever mentioned a kid. She was emotional and the boy came over and asked her why she was sad. I thought both her and Megan where about to faint and when I asked them why nobody ever mentioned him Meg tried to play it of by saying she's sure she had mentioned it, I had probably just forgotten about it. But this isn't something you just forget. I'm sure neither of them have ever mentioned it. It's like they were deliberately trying to hide it from me." My heart thudded loudly in my chest and I ran my hand through my hair. "Do you think it's possible that they hid him cause he's mine?" He sighed and shrugged. "I don't know. That's possible. I'm not even sure how old he is. But think back. Do you remember that night we thought you were dying? The doctors couldn't find anything wrong but you were in so much pain they had to sedate you? What if that was her pain?" "Her pain.. When she was giving birth.." He nodded. "Exactly, I know you guys rejected each other but mates do feel each others pain.. Maybe your bond isn't completely broken?" I sigh coming back to the present when I hear Jake calling me. I turn around to look at him. "Meg just linked me. They just came through the border. She's here. They are here. What do you want to do?" I sigh and run my hand through my hair. "Honestly I want to run to the pack house and be the first thing she sees when she gets out of the car. But I know she would not want that, she wouldn't want me to be the first thing she sees. I don't want her to feel ambushed and to make her mad at me. I'll give her the day to he with her family. But tomorrow I will find her." He nods. "Yes maybe that's best. I'm heading over there." I nod. "Good. After training I'll be heading home. I have a few things to do at the pack. I'll see you later." He nods and waves goodbye before he jogs in the direction of the pack house. I look at the warriors again, they have just finished training and I nod at them before I turn to leave. Tomorrow little mate.. Then your all mine. ---------‐------------------------- Shay's Point of View Looking at the pack house I can't help but smile. I've missed the pack. This is still home. I help Zayde out of the car and he looks around with wide eyes. "Wow mommy! Is this were you lived? Is that grandma and grandpa's house? It's huge!" He shouts pointing at the pack house. I smile at him and ruffle his hair. "That is the pack house. And yes that is where I lived, but alot of people live there. Grandma; Grandpa; me and your uncle used to live on the top floor. Now just your uncle lives here. Grandma and grandpa has a different house now. Only the current Alpha stays here." I turn to look at Ashley and she seems agitated. I touch her arm. "Are you okay?" She frowns and then smile shaking her head. "I don't know I feel strange.. But I can't put my finger on it. Maybe I'm just jetlagged or something." She says shrugging and going around the car to get her luggage. I frown and walk around the car to get our luggage as well. "Jake!" I see Megan running to her mate. He catches her and kisses her softly before placing his hand on her stomach and rubbing it. He says something to her and she smiles nodding her head. He kisses her again and then they make their way over to us. "Jake, this is our friend Ashley." Megan introduces him as soon as they get to us. Jakes smile at Ashley and shake her hand. "Hi. It's nice to meet you in person." Ashley smiles back at him. "Yes you to. Congratulations by the way." He grins and kisses Megan again. "Thank you." Then he turns to look at me and holds out his arms. I smile at him and move into his arms for a hug. "God, it's good to see you in person. You look good." He says after a quick hug. I smile again. "You too. It's been a while." He nods. "Yes it has." His eyes wonder until they spot Zayde and my heart starts thumping. The moment Zayde lifts his head and smiles at Jake I knew he'd figure it out. His head snaps in my direction and I can see the question there in his eyes. I motion Zayde over and he comes running. "Zayde this is Jake. He's Auntie Meg's mate." Zayde smiles at Jake and hold out his hand for a handshake. "Hi uncle Jake." Jake crouched to be level to him and shake his hand. "Hello Zayde. It's nice to meet you." "Do you live here too?" Zayde asks pointing at the packhouse. Jake shakes his head and smiles. "No. I'm not from this pack. I'm just here visiting." Zayde nods and then wanders back to the gravel where he was playing before. Jake stood up and glared at me. "Ashley, would you mind taking Zayde to the playground out back? You can just walk around the pack house. Me and the girls need to have a chat." Ashley gave me a questioning look and I nodded. She got Zayde and left. As soon as they were out of ear shot Jake turned back to me with another glare.
