Reinforcements to the rescue

Do you know how, when something explodes, you take cover? Well, that didn’t matter. My old man showed up along with cousins Maverick, Larkin, Major, Luna, and Lex. Britt went to take care of Nora while the rest of us dealt with the adults.
I let the other handle their parents while my old man and I bonded.
“How’s it going?” Dad asked me at a diner.
“Considering the s**t hit the fan swell,” I retorted, earning a look from Dad.
“Kaxon,” Dad said.
“Yeah, I know. I should watch the others, but it’s difficult with their moaning over their girls and guy,” I sighed.
Dad arched an eyebrow at me.
“I help the family and end up with a fiancée,” I mentioned.
“Say what?” Dad asked.
“Oh, you didn’t hear. Well, my cousins thought it would be cool
