Chapter 1
Chapter 1
It’s our time
Pax
I walked to the bakery and went inside to find Shaun waiting on people. He looked different from the last time I saw him but still adorable. I strolled to the line and waited until it was my turn. After he waited on the other customers, I moved to the counter with his back to me.
“I’ll be right with you,” Shaun said as I stood there, waiting. He turned around and came face to face with me. “Pax,” he whispered.
“Hey, Shaun,” I greeted him as the corners of my lips curled into a smile. His eyes widened as I stood there. Then he diverted his eyes. “What can I get you?” He asked.
“You,” I answered, smirking as Shaun looked at me with furrowed brows. I leaned on the counter and looked at him. “How about after you get off work tonight, we talk?” I asked.
Shaun looked at me with concern as I looked at him with confidence.
“Uh, I can’t,” he said, surprising me.
“What?” I asked.
“I got an early class and homework. Excuse me, I have work to do,” Shaun said as he walked away from me.
I didn’t come all this way to school to have Shaun shoot me down. Shaun would be mine. I left the bakery to see Pat waiting for me.
“Well,” Pat asked.
“Shaun says he’s busy with homework and an early class,” I answered.
“Does he think you’re stupid or something?” Pat asked.
“No, but that douche that did this to him better be glad he encountered Matthew,” I huffed as Pat gave me a knowing look. It pissed me off to know someone treated someone I cared about so badly.
“Well, I guess it’s time for Plan B,” Pat said as I smirked. Plan B is always my favorite because plan A never works.
I finished placing items in the car’s trunk for Plan B.
“It’s good to know we are committing a felony while carrying on the family tradition,” Kaxon remarked. He had his hands shoved in his front pockets.
“It’s not a felony. It’s a necessary means,” Mason added.
“Cuz, it’s a felony,” Kaxon reminded him.
“Let’s have less talking and more action. I don’t have Grammy Gray’s time for this bullshit. I want my guy back,” I told them as I got into the car.
“Damn, someone needs to get laid. Love makes you do dumb things. Thus, I chose no love. Then I stay smart,” Kaxon retorted.
“Or a loser,” Pat told him, walking past him and getting into the car.
Mason shook his head as they got into the backseat. My cousins needed to get their s**t together. I didn’t have all night, especially when our brothers figure out what we’re doing.
Our brothers and cousins hung out at the house until Payton wondered why we were quiet since he didn’t hear us.
“Has anyone seen the demon twins?” Payton asked as he came downstairs.
“Aren’t they upstairs?” Park asked as everyone looked at them.
“No,” Payton answered.
“Better question, where the hell are Kaxon and Mason?” Markus asked as they all looked at each other, knowing what we were planning. It doesn’t take a great genius to figure out the s**t we do. They’re slower on the uptake.
Our brothers and cousins went looking for us while we were busy committing a crime of our own.
Shaun came out of the bakery and locked up. He turned and met with a bag over his head, then dropped to the ground as Pat and Mason bound him. Kaxon pulled off the bag and shoved a sock into his mouth.
“That’s so you don’t scream,” Kaxon said as he patted Shaun’s cheek. My brother and cousin carried him to the car and shoved him into the back seat. Shaun turned to face me as I waved at him, smiling.
The others got into the car, and we drove to a secluded area. After we stopped, I got out of the car and dragged Shaun out, then untied him.
Shaun stood there, looking displeased. Okay, he looked pissed.
“Hey, I tried to talk to you, and you blew me off, so we do this the Gray way,” I said.
“And you kidnap me?” He asked.
“It’s effective,” I replied, shrugging.
Shaun looked at me then walked over to sit down on a rock. He ran his hand through his hair in frustration.
“You wanted me to give you a chance. I’m giving you a chance,” I said.
He looked at me. “And time,” he added.
“That too,” I said.
“Do you have any idea what it’s like to look over your shoulder and wonder if you’ll make someone angry? Or that someone assaults you? The hell you endure because you associate with certain people,” Shaun said as I looked at him. “It’s the worst feeling in the world. Then before that happened, you refused to talk to me, shutting me out.”
“I was wrong, but I was angry,” I reasoned.
He stood up. “That is the problem. I get to deal with anger and rejection. I got to deal with it with my family, my ex, and you. Who’s saying that you won’t get angry and shut me out again?”
I furrowed my brows.
“For once, I found peace, even if it’s alone,” Shaun told me as he walked away. My brother and cousins didn’t stop him, and neither did I. Shaun was right.
Pat walked over to me as I stood there. “Pax?” Pat said, looking at me with concern.
“I want to be alone,” I whispered as I turned and walked away. I wanted Shaun, and Shaun didn’t want me.
I walked down the street as a car came along and stopped. The doors opened as Pay and Park appeared as I stood there. My brothers walked over to me.
“Remember when everyone said to give Shaun time, and he would come around to me?” I asked. “I did, and he wants nothing to do with me. He prefers to stay alone than with me. I’m sure everyone was wrong about Shaun.”
“Pax,” Payton said as I diverted my eyes. Tears fell, but I didn’t want to break. They pulled me into a hug as I buried my head into them and cried.
Matthew and Markus got out of the car and looked at each other.
“We should help the bugger out,” Markus said.
“You’re nuts,” Matthew told him.
“Okay, we either help Pax out, or you find that cute girl you’re avoiding,” Markus said.
“Fine, we’ll help one of the demon twins, so I can avoid that girl,” Matthew groaned.
“I knew you would see things my way,” Markus retorted.
While Payton and Parker took care of me, Matthew and Markus went to find the others. They walked until they found Pat, Kaxon, and Mason.
“Well, that didn’t go as planned,” Kaxon mentioned.
“No s**t, Sherlock,” Markus retorted.
“Why did you think it was a clever idea to tie Shaun up after what he went through with Travis?” Matthew asked the others.
“Because Pax wanted to show Shaun that he wants him,” Mason answered.
“That’s not the way to do it,” Matthew reasoned.
“Well, that’s fine and all, but does anyone realize what happens when someone rejects my twin?” Pat asked the others.
Matthew and Markus gave each other knowing looks, as did Kaxon and Mason. Yeah, things will get messy with me. I have a temper, and it’s about to blow, especially with Shaun rejecting me.
My temper will set off a chain of events bringing family members to the school to deal with it, who are our parents.
