Finishing their breakfast at the dining hall, Jon escorted them to the office of the Captain. Their stomachs are full and you can see the satisfied expression on the face of the two siblings.
“I’ve never had such a good breakfast before...Uhm, Sire Jon what ingredients did you use?” Christine wondered as she asked Jon who was walking in front of them, guiding.
“Oh, do you mean hotdogs? I’m very sorry but I don’t know the process of making it, if you want to know, I will gladly ask the chef who made it…”
“No, I don’t want to trouble you any longer, it is fine if you don’t know...I was just curious anyway.”
Christine waved her hands at dismissal, they continued to walk along the big hallways that are designed perfectly. At one glance, everyone would notice immediately that this is an Aristocrat or a Duke mansion. But this is their first time seeing such a grand mansion.
Moments later, a Shugo met them in the hallway, bowing as they passed along. Fiona instinctively grabbed her sister’s hand. Jon took a glance and noticed the reaction of the two.
“Is this your first time seeing them?” Jon simply asked, without turning his head towards them.
“Uhm...there are a lot of monsters and demi-humans in this world but I’ve never seen the likes of them before…” Christine answered briefly.
“Hmm…” Jon just nodded at her answer, “What an interesting discovery…” He muttered to himself.
Five minutes passed, they arrived at one door which they believed was the office of the Captain or the King.
It was just a simple door, nothing so special about it. Christine and Fiona let their imagination run to figure out what’s the appearance of their leader.
Is it a middle-aged muscular man? An old man? Those are their impressions since they are commonly prevalent in the Kingdom.
Meanwhile, Jon puts his two fingers on his temple, nodding. The two siblings looked at him like he was crazy.
“The Captain is waiting for us behind that door, are you ready?”
“Wait isn’t he a king? As I remembered those are the last words that you said to me…”
“We aren't sure about that yet, but he is our leader. So, get ready…”
Jon extended his hands towards the doorknobs and gently opened the door. Behold was a spacious room big enough compared to their bedrooms, It was filled with bookshelves, intricately designed mats, exquisite furniture, and most importantly, it was tidy.
Behind the desk was a knight sheathed in full-plate silver armor. His head is covered with a helmet, concealing its identity. The knight walked towards, a beautiful blue cape fluttered and the sabaton clapped softly with the ground. A true impression of a knight is in their head but without having a chance to know what’s inside means that the impression of its face remains.
It was a tall knight, similar to Jon. The knight removed its helmet and was surprised. It was not a middle-aged man or an old man. They were flabbergasted to their minds. The man sheathed in armor was a handsome man, he has formal-looking silver hair that compliments his icy-blue eyes. A simple gaze from that man is enough to make them feel intimidated.
This man's presence is strong, it’s oppressive but soft. A knight that most likely will help you when you are in need. But its icy-blue eyes are so piercing as if he was scrutinizing them.
Then the knight spoke:
“My name is Ethan Gonzales, I’m the leader of the Surrender@20 guild. A pleasure to meet the both of you.”
The man who called himself Ethan bowed in front of them valiantly, Jon on the other hand was silent.
Does Jon respect this knight so much? Jon is strong and she accepted that after defeating two Demon Generals and top-ranked swordsman in the kingdom. There is only one conclusion that she could come up with, is the knight in front of them is stronger than him? And if it is, why is he being so formal and respectful to the weak princesses?
“I-I’m...Christine von Bethia... a pleasure to meet you.”
“Fi-Fiona von Bethia...ple-ple-pleasure to meet you…”
“Hmm…interesting,” Ethan said as he placed his hand on his chin, contemplating. The two princesses introduced themselves in a different manner, Ethan can deduce that Christine is a strong girl yet can’t show it and Fiona is a timid girl who was raised carefully by their parents. Though it was just a conjecture.
“Please sit, we would have a lot to discuss on this day.” Ethan showed them the seats as he extended his hand towards it.
Christine and Fiona nimbly took a seat, not wanting to anger them with their slightest mistake. Ethan took his seat as well but Jon just stood there idly.
“Jon please introduce themselves to me according to your knowledge,” Ethan ordered Jon.
“Understood,” He said with a dignified voice and continued, “They were found at the middle of the forest cornered by the filthy beast and a man with its malevolent lust. I was displeased at his manner and I killed him immediately, same goes for the two filthy beasts. According to their introduction, they are both princesses from a country called the Bethia Kingdom. Christine is the second princess and Fiona being the third princess.”
After Jon concluded, Ethan glanced at the two siblings with a stern look.
“Is that true?”
Christine could only nod out of his piercing glare, Fiona instinctively wrapped her hands around Christine’s arms. Scared that they will be smitten by him.
Ethan didn’t fail to notice it and immediately returned to his calm posture.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you or anything. But if Jon said that you’re both a princess of a kingdom then I will not doubt it. Then the next question, is the filthy beast that you’re always referring to is strong?”
The question was directed at Jon.
“No, to be honest, they were weak. A simple basic attack from my main weapon is enough to finish them. Any one of us can defeat those filthy beasts. To put it on my perspective, they are not worthy of my weapons, they will only dirty it.”
Jon said with a prideful tone, Ethan rubbed his head as he realized that Jon was impersonating someone from a certain anime, his attitude and his appearance were inspired by the specific character: Gilgamesh in Fate Stay Night.
“Jon, could you please stop with that attitude of yours, it’s cringe…”
“Huh? How dare you call me cringe, mongrel?”
“Okay, just because you’re wearing the custom armor of the character means that you need to copy its personality. It didn’t suit you in real life.”
“But this is real life now. I can do whatever I want.”
Jon implied, they seem to be casually talking to each other but Ethan was pissed at this moment.
“Let’s just continue with the main topic at hand, don't you think sir Ethan?” Jon suggested.
“Yeah...sorry.”
Ethan glanced at the two again:
“Now, your accommodation here in our Estate depends on how you answer our question regarding this world. Once we get the information we need, we will return you to your country personally and get the reward. Now you can return immediately after you answer our question. What do you think? A fair deal right.”
The two siblings didn’t respond. Jon clicked his tongue and interjected:
“Sir Ethan you really are a scumbag, that’s now how you talk to the princess or ladies. You’ll scare them.” He chided and continued, “Christine, don’t worry we won’t force you to spill any information about your kingdom, we just need some basic knowledge in this world. We assure you that you will have a great stay in our mansion in a day or two.”
Jon extends his hands, offering a handshake to Christine and Fiona. If it’s Jon who was talking then they can trust him, right? After all, he was the one who saved them from their certain death.
And so they reach an agreement.
Immediately after, Ethan asked them a series of questions about this world and it’s a long one so let me shorten it for you.
This world is called Atrea, it has four continents throughout the world and the continent that they were in right now is called the North-Blenera continent. Throughout the continent Blenera there are six other countries called: Paiven Empire, Daewen Kingdom, Croria Dynasty, Pasian Kingdom, Bethia Kingdom, and Govia Empire.
Demi-humans exist also in this world such as elves, dwarves, cat people, dog people, dragonewt, and so on. Demons also exist in this world and were now threatening the idyllic atmosphere throughout the continent. The reason is that the Demon Lord is now making its move from another continent called Demon King Continent where demons rule.
In terms of finance, their gold coins don’t have value here, the money that is circulated throughout the continent is minted by their own kingdom and the only money that has value is money from other countries. Their gold coins have value but they cannot be used to buy almost anything.
So even if they had trillions of gold coins in the treasury, it’s useless in this world. In short, they are broke in this new world of theirs and they want to have money, they have to work like normal people or go on adventuring.
Adventuring is self-explanatory, on which the main business is to receive a quest and once you complete it, you will have your pay. Each adventure guild has its own guild master throughout the country or a continent. In-depth explanations about the adventures guild will be discussed in the near future.
Regarding technologies, there are no modern technologies that exist in this world, they found out after showing an air conditioner and an electric fan at the princesses. But even if they don’t have modern technology, they have a magic to compensate for it. If you want to have a chill room you can just buy a magic item that has rune magic on it.
And the most interesting information that piqued their interest is that there is an event held annually hosted and sponsored by the six countries where a top guild from each host country will clash together to prove who’s strongest. It’s similar to the world championship and what I mean from similar is that your guild must be qualified to participate by winning their domestic tournament which will be held in a month. The winners will be awarded anything that they wish as long as it is not impossible.
The village that they found 100 kilometers away is called Poeta Village and was under Bethia Kingdom rule, 50 kilometers away from it is a prestigious village called Missania! Popular for its magic school academy.
Talking for about thirty minutes, it seems like the questions that they have in mind were answered truthfully by Christine and Fiona.
“Thank you for your cooperation Princess Christine and Princess Fiona. I am glad that we now have the information that we need to survive in this world.” Ethan said.
“No, we should be the one thanking you since you have a strong subordinate in your guild though I have never heard of it before. By the way, how many members do you have in a guild?” Christine inquired.
“We have 12 members, me and Jon included. Now that you mention that there is an annual tournament, we might as well try it.”
“But to do so, you need identification or proof of residence. Without it, you might not be able to participate. However, since you saved our lives we will return the favor by granting all of you an identification.” Christine offered.
“Hehehe.” Ethan let out a forced smile, this is not something that can be decided on the spot he needs a unanimous vote of all the members of Surrender@20 “Uhm, Christine would you please give us some time to discuss it? I promise you, we will give you an answer immediately.”
“Captain!”
A man materializes inside the office. All of them looked towards the faltering light two meters away from it.
A tan-skinned young man in a black trenchcoat appeared suddenly.
“What’s the problem, Ian?”
“So I was on a reconnaissance mission, right? We found out that there are a lot of troops coming in on the Poeta Village and handing out flyers, I don’t know what it says but this is the flyers that I got.” Ian took something from the empty space which is called an inventory slot that can hold up to 500 kilograms. It was a paper with scribbles on it.
The princess took a glance at a piece of paper and saw the contents.
“I can’t read this!” Ethan complained.
“Uhm...Sir Ethan the contents of the paper show that the troops are looking for me and my sister and are readying for defense on the impending monster invasion heading towards the Poeta village and Missania city.”
“Who’s that girl?” Ian inquired.
“Those are princesses of the Bethia Kingdom. Christine and Fiona.” Jon answered his inquiry.
“A princess!” Ian immediately genuflected in front of the two princesses and grabbed their hands.
“So this is what a princess looks like? So beautiful!”
“Uhm, sir Jon please if you lend us your power we might be able to fend off the army of monsters! Please I’m begging you.”
The princesses prostrated in front of them. The Battle Gods are surprised at their action.
“Jon, why are they simping on you?” Ian asked Jon.
“Because I saved them,” Jon replied simply.
“To make a princess prostrate in front of you...do you even have some decency or dignity left? Well, it doesn’t matter...Captain, let me do the honors of saving the town.” Ian offered.
“Well since I give Jon some battle experience, I should send you as well. Then, as a Captain of the Surrender@20, Ethan Gonzales thus ordered Ian Alcantara to help the troops of Bethia to fend off the army of monsters.”
“Understood, with the order of the King, I shall eliminate all monsters to the ground,” Ian said valiantly.
