Chapter 6

Dilara POV I finally arrived at the university after hours of driving. I was so glad that I could finally get out and stretch my legs. I parked in the first parking lot I could see and got out to stretch. Once my legs felt like my own instead of just jelly noodles attached to me I took a look around. It was a lot bigger than what I thought it would be. I don’t even know where to start. After staring at everything around me for five minutes I decided that I would have to ask someone. I stopped the first girl that I spotted. “Sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if you could point me in the direction of the registration building?” She smiled at me. “You are completely turned around come with me.” I followed her to a board that turned out to be a map of the campus. “You see we are here now. This is the main student's entrance. You won’t be able to get in here without a student ID card. We need to keep the humans out after all. This parking lot is for students who stay off campus. They park here and then walk to their classes. Anyway you see to the right of the parking lot is the campus and to the left is the path that leads to the dorms and sports fields. This is where you need to go.” She pointed to the other side of the map. She was right I was at the completely wrong end. “I suggest you go out the gate you came in and turn right then just keep driving until you find the last gate, there are five gates including this one. Four leads to different parking lots for students and the last one leads to the university office. There is this gate and another one on this side if you turn right at the end of the road the next gate you’ll find is the one you need. They will direct you from there. The other two gates are on the other side. Take a photo of the map with your phone.” As she talked she showed me the places on the map. Which I was grateful for because I felt more lost. I took out my phone and took the picture. She then grabbed my phone out of my hand and started editing the map. She labelled the buildings. There was an office building, a financial building and then there were five buildings at each gate. They were numbered A - T. I guess it has to be big for the amount of electives they offer. “There are six more buildings that are a bit away. They are for the engineering and Art courses. They can get a bit loud. A lot of students prefer driving to the buildings near their classes. Once you have your ID you will be able to drive inside instead of having to leave the campus and enter through another gate. I hope you find everything. I’ll see you around or not it’s really a big place.” “Thank you.” I said as she walked away. She waved at me. This has been a good start to this new adventure. I went back to my car so that I could drive to the right gate. As I reached my car I felt my wolf become restless. I don’t know what caused it, but I got in the car and started to drive. My wolf has never been so restless before. I wonder if it is about how many wolves there are here. We come from a large pack, but nothing can prepare you for this large campus full of wolves. They are all from a different pack. It’s strange to see so many different wolves from different packs hanging out together in one space. Usually, there will be some hostility. I guess my wolf is just preparing for that. I found the gate that I needed to enter and finally managed to get to the office. They directed me to the registration office. I first had to pay according to them. I told them that I was on a scholarship so they sent me to that office where I had to get a slip that said my studies and registration were paid in full. Then I went back to the registration office. I filled in the forms and handed them in along with the slip. I was given my class schedule and a list of textbooks I will need. Then I was sent to the ID card department where a photo of me was taken and the card was made. From there I was directed to the bookshop. Where I bought all my books and some stationery. It was more expensive than I thought it would be. There they informed me that I have to go and get a library card and account which is not included in the scholarship. I wished they told me this before I bought the books since the library is right in the middle of campus. It was quite a distance to walk, but walking to my car and back would take a lot longer. So I carried the books and went to the library. I opened an account that will be billed every time I use a private study room, a conference room or the computer and internet. It has to be paid monthly. Books are taken out against my student card, but late books are also billed on my account. I was told there that I needed to go to the head of the dorms. I went to that office next. I was given my room keys and number with a long list of rules. First-years get shared rooms, second-years will get single rooms and third-years get flatlets. I’m fine with having a roommate. I was finally done almost four hours later. I went back to my car and just took a couple of minutes to myself. My arms were aching from how the plastic bags full of books had almost cut into them as I carried them around. I switched on my ignition and drove to the gate that led directly to the dorms. That was yet another maze. The buildings were numbered according to alphabet letters and numbers, but the one building was A and the next was L it made no sense so I drove around for about half an hour before I finally found my D5 building. I parked in front of the building and decided to go and find my room before I started carrying my things in. I had to use my ID card to get into the building. The halls were creepy. Everything was white with fluorescent lights. It reminded me of a hospital. There were long corridors filled with doors with tiny numbers on them. I thought I was going in the right direction, but the hall ended at D5-10 I’m at D5-21. I went up the stairs thinking that it would be there but the last one was 40 which means that the corridor was 31 to 40. I walked down the corridor hoping the other side was my side but it was 41 - 50. I went back downstairs to the other side but that was 11 - 20. I backtracked, but the only other hallways held the bathrooms. I walked down it anyway to the right had rooms 26 - 30 so I figured the other side of the hallway had my room. It was literally the last place I could look. I finally found my room, it was right next to the bathroom on that side. I opened the door. Once the door was opened I saw a girl sitting on the bed with her laptop and earphones in. She had brown hair and brown eyes. She was sitting there staring at me so I waved. She pulled her earphones out. “Hi, you must be my new roommate! I’m so glad I finally have one I have been lonely as hell. I’m Malissa!” She jumped up rushing to me. My wolf immediately went on the defence, thinking she was going to attack, but she hugged me. “I have three brothers and two sisters. I have been so alone. Where are your bags?” She asked me after seeing my lack of things. ”I left it in my car. I didn’t want to lug it with me while I looked for my room, good thing too because this was the last place I looked. I’ve already walked the campus flat in order to register. I’m tired.” ”Yeah I get that, it is a long process. I’ll help you carry your stuff so that you don’t have to walk so far more than once.” She is at least kind. Which is a good thing, I can’t imagine having a mean roommate for an entire year. “I appreciate that. I didn’t park far. I parked right in front of the building. Just until I’ve unloaded then I can go and look for my parking space, finding this building was already such a hassle.” I explained to her. I saw her eyes go big before she grabbed my hand and started rushing out with me. “Oh no, we need to hurry.” We made it outside to see someone about to hook my car up. They are going to tow me for unloading my stuff. It’s not like I planned to stop there indefinitely. “Hey, what are you doing!” I yelled rushing over even faster. I can’t believe that this is happening. ”This is a no parking zone. I am towing your car.” The guy said flatly. Not caring that I was standing here now. “I didn’t park my car here I just went to unlock my room before I carried my things inside,” I exclaimed completely frustrated. I can’t believe they are so strict with the rules. I mean come on…I guess they have to be in order to stop all the different wolves from fighting each other. They need to be strict in order to prevent chaos, but I’m new I didn’t even know. “She is new, she just arrived today. Can’t you just give her the ticket and leave the car? She honestly didn’t know. She is a scholarship wolf just like us. Don’t make her drive all the way to the pack to get it back.” This must be his scholarship job. “I can’t do that. If I lose this job I lose my scholarship. She can come and get it in a couple of hours.” He said writing out a ticket. “A couple of hours?” Why couldn’t I just go with him, pay for the ticket and then leave? “We need to check the registration and prove that the car is yours before we give it back to you. Can you please give me your licence so that I can take a photo of it?” I took it out for him and handed it over with a sigh. I looked at the ticket and it was 300 dollars “Why is this so damn expensive!” Now I was angry even my wolf was getting worked up. I mean I can probably buy all my groceries for that amount. I have a limited amount of money and I can’t go and spend all of it in one day. “To teach you to follow the damn rules.” He said hooking my car up. “Can I at least get my stuff out of the car?” Then I can pack my things out while I wait to go and get my car. ”No I need to take the car as is. Have a good day." He said with a sarcastic smile. I hate him. I watched as he drove away with my car. “Don’t mind him he is just bitter and tired. A lot of scholarship wolves get like that. Not to be a bummer and all, but they make you bitter. The pack they drain us. They make us work so hard and there are extra costs so we need money so we also need to work to get that money. It leaves us exhausted. No one says it out loud, but I think they do it on purpose so that we fail and they can get more free labour. That’s why our rooms are so close to the door because we leave early and come in late. The rooms are also next to the bathroom, we hear everything from the water to the girls gossiping. It’s not fun, but hey we need to make the best of it.” I wonder if the packs' intentions are truly so devious. It makes sense why we have to have so much experience. “There is initiation every Monday night for the new students if there is any. You will be initiated and introduced to the pack tomorrow. After being introduced they will tell you what your job will be.” they don’t waste time. “Alright. It’s good to know. They sent me so much info and they seemed to leave out the most crucial parts.” “On purpose.” She sang as we got to the room. “I wanted to pack out and go grocery shopping. Now I need to sit here and wait for my car then go shopping and then come and pack everything out. This is turning out to be one hell of a day.” I said sitting on my bare bed. “I can take you shopping before we go to get your car.” This girl is way too nice. Is this how I seemed to everyone when I was working? “That would be great. I am Lara. Thank you for all your help. I’m sure that this isn’t what your plans were for today.” “I had like no plans at all so I’m grateful for this. Let’s go.” We left to go to the shopping centre. I started to load things in, but it wasn’t long before she stopped me and explained the room only comes with beds and that she had to buy a fridge. She doesn’t mind sharing, but there is only so much space and we only have a closet each for all our clothes and our groceries. We don’t even have desks which is why we need to book study rooms and pay extra for them. I realized that I would have to limit myself and go shopping every week. It will just be another thing I’ll need to do. I really need to talk to the Alpha as well and tell him that I will be only joining temporarily. Rowan POV “I hate coming to the dorms. Why do you insist on staying here? The rooms are small and the people are beneath you.” We were currently walking down the path to the main student gate. We had met up with Joshua at his flatlet in the dorm area. He is a Gamma werewolf of the Lupus Nobilitatis pack. He is damn near nobility and here he is slumming it with the wolves that only study and leave and the scholarship dirt. Not even Aceline stays here. She has an apartment off campus. “Like I told you I like to have the full university experience,” he said smiling at me with that goofy look on his face that is only reserved for that slut he calls a mate. “Stop lying you only like staying here because you can’t get an affordable apartment for you and HER.” I sneered. She really broke up our group. “You like playing house with her, you bend the rules to your liking. The flatlets are meant for couples. You just couldn’t wait for pack approval.” In our pack as a male, you need to study. It’s only when you have a degree that you get pack approval to move in and start a family with your mate. Pack approval is almost like a wedding ceremony. The thing is the pack should always come first. The head families are required to study something that benefits the pack or can bring in a bunch of money. The Alpha family's contribution is the university and all the money that is made from it. “When you find your mate you will understand. You can stay a cynic until then.” Josh said shaking his head at me. Like I was the one in the wrong while he was the one slumming here with her. “When I find my mate I will reject her. I got Aceline. She is who I want.” He sighed shaking his head at me, “You just keep telling yourself that.” Which is when Birke interjected himself into the conversation. “You two sound like an old married couple. Honestly, do you want me to leave and give you two a moment to kiss and make up?” He joked to try and clear the air. “Nah he isn’t my type. He is way too serious.” Which is the truth he is throwing his youth away at being serious. He is studying to become a biological technician and Alicia his mate is studying to be a nuclear technician. That is how they met and bonded. He should have picked something easier that offered him more free time. Like Birke, he is studying to be a job analyst. It’s perfect for him. A beta as a job analyst will help me out a lot. I will put him in charge of the scholarship dirt. He would know what jobs would be best for each of them. My wolf became more agitated the closer we came to the campus. I wonder if he was sensing a threat. Every now and then there are wolves that step out of line. They pretend to be part of the university by enrolling and then they try and attack the pack. We have power, who doesn’t want power? “Mate!” My wolf howled in my mind loudly, my whole body was rattled by it I grabbed onto my head due to the intensity of it and my eyes seemed to find her immediately. All that I saw was strawberry blonde hair as she ducked into her car. She was driving away. The further she went the more agitated my wolf became. He wanted to chase after her, rip the wheels apart so that she never left again and for a moment I wanted that too, I caught myself just before I sprinted in the direction her car disappeared too. I don’t want a mate. I felt my wolf whimper in my head. Josh’s words ‘When you find your mate you will understand.” lingered in my mind, because this was a lot more intense than I thought it would be. My whole being wanted her and all I’ve seen is the back of her head. How will it be when I’m face to face with her?
