Chapter 11: The remainder of the trip to New Orleans passed uneventfully. The low flatlands of the coastal plans gave few hazards to encounter so high up. The airship rose high enough to find favorable winds and cool air. In August, even the nights down south were considered hot. With the humidity so high, Helena was glad to wear her hair short. The humidity was bad enough, her hair wet with sweat on the back of her neck. She cringed at the thought of having a full head of hair like she used to. She’d be damned to the fires of hell before wearing a wig in this heat. “Rosa and I will be heading into town for an investigation while we are in New Orleans,” she announced over lunch.
