Thirty minutes later, Erik and Jia descended into a wide alley kilometers away from their starting location. They’d left an area filled with mini-flitters and people and traveled to a more sparsely populated part of the city. Their prey waited patiently, his arms hanging loosely from his sides. Emma’s drones circled overhead. She’d supplemented their mini-drones with the recent arrival of a larger drone with better sensors.
The lack of obvious ambush potential only put Jia more on guard. Assassinating someone by taking them to a place with fewer witnesses and cameras was an obvious tactic. The man’s movements already proved they needed to be more cautious than his appearance suggested.
