Gerald's POV Watching the sunrise, I felt a sense of calmness wash all over me. Annabelle wasn't anywhere near me when I woke up, and I found that very strange, but I was also very happy at the same time. I didn't need her nagging this early in the morning. I woke up on the right side of the bed and the last thing I needed was someone to dampen my mood. Ever since she found me at the café, she has been acting strange. I was expecting her to lash out in front of everyone, to humiliate me. Instead, Annabelle defended me when Aaliyah, her friend, tried to make some nasty comments. She told her that the girl I was with was a distant relative. I was shocked at that moment. I don't know what games Annabelle was playing, but I have a very bad feeling about it.
