CHAPTER TWENTY.
Oliver and Alyana both got home delighted. Who would have thought they both felt the same way for one another?. They were both glad it wasn't one-sided. They both slept like a baby dreaming of each other.
The next day Alyana and Oliver went together to purchase some ingredients for chocolates because the stock was almost finished at the shop due to the opening ceremony. Oliver showed Alyana some good quality flavors and introduced her to some of his customers. They also went to the farm to get some cocoa. Alyana was tired and sweating, Oliver saw that and brought his handkerchief out to wipe her sweat, making her blush.
Alyana told Oliver she would love to stop by someone before heading home.
They got to the place and it was a secluded area, only an old building was there. They got down from the vehicle and Alyana told the driver to wait for them in the car.
"I hope you don't mind, this is my grandfather's place, he is the father of my mama," Alyana explained.
"Ehmm, who stays with him?" Oliver asked curiously.
"He stays alone, he is kind of anti-social and anti-suffering too. Whenever I want to check up on him or talk to him, I have to travel all the way here." Alyana explained making Oliver laugh.
"Grandpa, hello, is anyone in?" Alyana asked loudly but got no answer.
"I think grandpa is at the back, you just stay here Oliver don't you dare move from this spot, promise," Alyana said moving to the back.
"Okay, Alyana," Oliver muttered.
"Grandpa, where are you?" Alyana mumbled loudly moving to the back.
Oliver stood at the spot for a while before he caught a glimpse of a signboard saying"NO TRESPASSING". He touched the signboard before moving towards the door.
"Hello, Anybody home?" He asked. He opened the door and was about to enter when he heard a gunshot, he quickly bent down.
"Don't you know how to read? Didn't you read the sign"NO TRESPASSING"?" An aged-looking man ran toward Oliver asking.
"Excuse me." Oliver let out standing up in shock.
"The shots you just heard are fake bullets but this one right here in my hand is loaded with a real bullet." The aged-looking man said, pulling the trigger.
"I am not a threat sir, please don't shoot me," Oliver said, breathing shakenly.
"Then who the heck are you?" The aged-looking man asked Oliver, pointing the gun at him.
Alyana was at the back of the house looking for her grandfather when she heard shots. She ran quickly panicking, she was scared of something bad happening to Oliver.
"Grandpa, grandpa please don't shoot, this is my friend Oliver." Alyana pleaded, panting heavily.
"Alyana is that you?" The aged-looking man asked.
"Yes grandpa, it's me Alyana, please put down the gun," Alyana replied.
The aged-looking man dropped the gun before entering his home.
"That's my grandpa, Edward, a retired police officer," Alyana whispered, gesturing for Oliver to follow her inside.
"A retired police officer?" Oliver asked.
"A very skilled police officer, he just retired early," Alyana explained.
"Why did he retire early?" Oliver asked.
"It was because he got depressed, one time he had this kidnapping case that wasn't solved, he felt he didn't carry out his duties and responsibilities as an officer so he left the force," Alyana said, arranging the table.
"Grandpa!" Alyana called out as she saw him coming in with a kettle.
He poured some water inside a cup before passing it to Oliver" Here, have some tea to calm you down," he said.
"It's alright, but thank you, sir," Oliver said politely.
"I made it, especially for you so drink it and don't worry it's not poisoned," Grandpa Edward let out scaring Oliver.
"Come on grandpa, stop intimidating Oliver, please," Alyana begged.
"Why Alyana, Are you afraid of me Oliver?" Grandpa Edward asked, picking his gun up.
"Not at all, sir," Oliver replied, sputtering.
"You see there, he shouldn't be afraid of me if he is truly honest, I am sure he has bad intentions on you dear." Grandpa Edward said, looking at Oliver.
"I don't sir, I can't hurt Alyana," Oliver replied quickly.
"Very well, then you shouldn't be afraid of me," Grandpa Edward let out.
"Will you both stop this, let's all just relax and enjoy the tea grandpa brewed. Let me take this." Alyana said, taking the gun away from grandpa's hand.
"You know dear, I was taken by surprise when you told me you had a boyfriend." Grandpa Edward said.
"Why grandpa, you couldn't believe someone would fall in love with me?" Alyana asked.
"You know that is not what I meant, with such a pretty face like yours I know a lot of men are dying to gain your attention," Grandpa Edwards answered, making Alyana blush.
"Grandpa, you're just making jest of me, you sure know how to use your words." Alyana let out.
"That's not true Alyana, let me ask you something dear," Grandpa Edward said.
"What is it, grandpa?" Alyana asked.
"Does your father know you are in a relationship?" He asked making Oliver splash his tea.
Alyana looked up before passing Oliver some tissues" That is my big dilemma grandpa, I haven't told him about it yet because I am waiting for the right time, please don't tell him anything, grandpa okay, I want to tell him myself. " Alyana begged.
"How do you expect me to tell him when I haven't talked to him for ages?" Grandpa asked.
"It is you who refuse to visit us in the city grandpa," Alyana replied.
"You know very well that I don't get along well with some of your family members, you know as the saying goes, you can pick your nose but you cannot pick your family," He said, making Alyana and Oliver burst into laughter.
"Where did you get that saying from, oh grandpa, I miss you so much and your jokes of course," Alyana said, hugging grandpa Edward.
"I miss you Alyana and Camilla also, I wish she came with you," Grandpa Edward said.
"Don't worry grandpa, I will bring her with me when I am coming next," Alyana replied, caressing grandpa Edward.
He has always been lonely since he lost his daughter, Alyana's mother. Ever since then, Alyana has been visiting him to fill up the void in his heart.
After they all had tea, Alyana told grandpa Edward it was getting late and they had to get going.
"Oliver," Grandpa Edward called out, making Oliver turn" I know we started on the wrong path, why don't we get to know each other next time." He let out.
"I would love that too sir," Oliver let out grinning.
"Please take care of my granddaughter Oliver, she's a nice lady and I don't want her to ever get hurt." Grandpa Edward said.
"I promise to protect her and never hurt her sir, I love her so much," Oliver said, making grandpa Edward happy.
"Go inside now grandpa, it's getting cold. We will get going now," Alyana said entering the car with Oliver.
Dropping the car glass, Alyana said" Take care of yourself, grandpa, I love you."
"Take care also dear, I love you too." He replied waving at her car until he could no longer see the car.
"What a wonderful child." Grandpa Edward let out before entering his home.
