CHAPTER TWELVE
I have always admired the world, it is filled with people who are happy and selfless. Sometimes when I stare at couples from afar, I feel unfortunate for not being blessed with a partner which I had always dreamt of when reading romance novels.
Whenever I am with my family, I feel safe and wanted, I feel a sense of belonging and security. My problem always feels less when I think of how my family was able to move on after my mother passed away and how far we have made it.
My thought was cut short when the driver announced we had reached the chocolate shop. Today, we are going to be preparing for the opening of the chocolate shop. We hired some workers to help with the cleaning and arranging of the shop for the opening.
Oliver had not arrived yet and Alyana was glad because she wasn't ready to face him yet.
Soon enough, Oliver arrived and greeted everyone, he moved to where Alyana was standing and greeted her.
"Good morning Alyana, I hope you slept well?" He said, smirking.
Alyana, who couldn't muster the courage to look at him, replied"Morning Oliver and yes I did." Before walking away.
Oliver couldn't focus at work, he kept looking at Alyana who kept on avoiding him. Anytime he approached her she quickly found somewhere to move to. Oliver knew she was avoiding him and found it cute.
Wanting to tease her, he walked up to her to ask her something but when she noticed he was walking up to her, her heart began to race. She had no choice but to announce" Okay everyone, thank you very much for today, I think we are ready for the big day tomorrow so you can all go home early so you can all have enough energy for tomorrow." She spoke Nervously.
"Thank you very much ma'am" they all replied in chorus.
"You are all welcome, make sure to be here early guys." She said before walking away but Oliver blocked her way before she could go any further.
"Are you not tired of Avoiding me?" Oliver asked, looking into her eyes.
"I am not avoiding you, Oliver, I am just busy with work," she said trying to walk away.
"Alyana, relax I am not going to bite you," Oliver said grinning.
"Oliver I am relaxed, I just need the opening to be close to perfect, I can't let myself or my papa down," Alyana said, trying her best to cloak her emotions.
"Alyana everything is ready and perfect. You did a great job preparing for the opening so relax please." Oliver said, patting Alyana's shoulder.
"Oliver, as I have said before, I am relaxed, so don't worry about me and go home," Alyana muttered moving to the desk to check if things are okay.
"You know what, I know of a place that can help you forget your worries for the meantime, get your things let's go," Oliver said getting his things also to leave.
Alyana couldn't argue with Oliver, so she packed her things and followed him. They both got outside and Oliver passed Alyana a helmet to put on.
"Are we going on your bike? Why don't we just use a cab? It will be easier." Alyana asked, looking at Oliver.
"Alyana do you trust me?" Oliver asked, still holding the helmet.
"Yes, I do trust you, Oliver." She said, collecting the helmet from Oliver's hand which made him smile widely.
"I am glad to hear you do," Oliver replied.
"So where will we be going?" Alyana asked curiously, glancing at Oliver.
"It's a surprise Alyana, get on." He said starting the engine of the bike. Alyana got on but was shy to hold Oliver.
"Hold onto me tight if you don't want to fall off," Oliver mumbled smirking.
Alyana had no choice but to summon the courage to hold him by the waist, making Oliver smile and Alyana blushed hard.
The ride was smoothing and refreshing, it helped Alyana to feel less stress. Alyana was enjoying the ride and she didn't notice they had reached their destination until Oliver cleared his thoughts.
"We are here." He announced making her get off, she removed her helmet and passed it to him and he packed the bike well before getting down.
Alyana was stunned to see that Oliver brought her to the park.
They found a place to sit and Alyana decided to ask Oliver why he chose the park of all places to bring her.
"So Oliver, why did you choose to bring me to the park?" Alyana asked.
"Before my mum passed away, she would always bring me and Nanay to the park. It was always peaceful and relaxing watching children play without worrying about anything in the world. It always made my mother happy when she came here and it's a memory to cherish. I just wanted to share this beautiful memory with you and admire the beauty of nature." Oliver explained looking at the kids at the playground.
What Oliver said touched Alyana's heart and she replied"Thank you for sharing your cherished memory with me Oliver, your mother was a wonderful person and I am sure she is proud of the man you have become."
"Alyana, I don't talk about my mother often but whenever I am with you, I feel so free and calm that I want to tell you everything both my good and painful memories," Oliver said, shifting closer to her.
Alyana couldn't say anything because she was feeling shy making Oliver burst out in laughter but his laughter was cut short when he heard Alyana's stomach growl.
"That was not me." She quickly said, making Oliver laugh more.
"I didn't know you were famished, wait here while I get us something to eat," Oliver said before leaving.
Alyana was looking around while waiting for Oliver when she noticed a kid running after a balloon man. The balloon man was moving towards the road and a car was coming along the same road. The kid kept on following the man making Alyana spring up out of fear, the car was about to hit the kid when Alyana ran and saved the kid from getting hit.
Oliver came back from buying food for Alyana when he noticed she wasn't sitting where he left her, looking around he saw Alyana running towards a moving car and shouted her name before running towards her.
Luckily for Alyana, she or the kid was not hurt. Alyana was dusting the kid's cloth when she heard someone crying out.
"Mateo, are you hurt? Mommy is so sorry, please forgive me." The lady said in tears, patting him.
"I am okay mommy, please don't cry. I am also sorry for leaving when you told me not to go anywhere." He said, wiping his mother's tears away.
"Son, promise me you won't ever do that again, I don't think I can survive without you in my life." The lady said hugging her son tightly.
"I promise mummy." He said hugging the lady back.
After the mother and son time, the lady stood up to thank Alyana for saving her kid's life.
"Thank you so much for saving my son's life, what can I ever do to repay you? I owe you my life." The lady said, looking at Alyana.
"No problem at all, you owe me nothing, I am pleased the boy is safe and out of danger," Alyana replied, looking closely at the lady.
"This face looks familiar," she mumbled to herself.
"Kyle Johnson," Alyana asks, surprised, making the lady look up in shock.
