Josiah Another wedding in Skaydal and this time I had no plans on ruining anything. In fact, I was over the moon that the couple was finally going to tie the knot – so to speak. I also had to admit that Sierna had done a fabulous job of putting everything together on such short notice. A shudder ran through me at the thought of her putting together my wedding. I scoffed softly as I shook my head. My thoughts and expectations were running away with me. I glanced over at Amani, and I couldn’t help but sigh. She was sitting with her family and, while I wished she was right next to me, it gave me the opportunity to watch her without anyone taking too much notice. Gavin, her father, suddenly looked over his shoulder and our gazes met. He immediately scowled and I quickly looked away. He certainly didn’t look happy. What did that mean for us? Almost without warning, the piano started playing, and everyone stood up and turned. I smiled as I spotted Mato, who was dressed in a pure snow-white suit, and it looked good on him. He headed down the aisle with his family behind him and all too soon he joined Zack as his family hurriedly took their seats. Gary waved his hand and we all sat down. “Welcome everyone!” Gary announced loudly. “Today we are gathered here to bear witness to Zack and Mato’s union of marriage. We are so very grateful that today we get to share in this moment with them, and we celebrate this occasion for what it is. Two becoming one,” Gary took a deep breath before he looked between Zack and Mato. “I need to confirm that you are both here of your own free will?” It was at this point that I glanced back over at Amani, and I was taken aback to see that she was angled in her seat in such a way that she wasn’t watching the ceremony, but instead, she was watching me. Her lips pulled up as she smiled, and I suddenly felt like everything was right in the world. Her long dirty blonde hair had been delicately styled on top of her head and she wore no makeup. Her golden amber eyes shone with happiness and something else that made my heart rate pick up. I still couldn’t quite believe that the fates had gifted me a mate, but the way she was looking at me simply confirmed it. Images flashed through my mind of our potential future, and I smiled as I gazed at her. She was perfect in every way and yet, we hardly knew each other. Amani had told me to plan a date and I hadn’t done that yet. Of course, I was dying to corner Grayson and Sierna for some advice and I mentally made a note to do so at the reception. I would need some help with this. “Hi,” Amani whispered, but I caught that single word as my eyes dropped to her lips. “Hi,” I mouthed back, and she blushed, which only made her even more attractive. For the first time in my life, I wanted to spend hours with another person. I wanted to get to know her. I wanted to know everything there was to know and an idea started to blossom for a potential date. “By the power vested in me, it is my honor and utter delight to declare you husband and…husband! Mato and Zack Marks!” Gary suddenly declared and the crowd cheered loudly. I groaned as I tore my gaze away from Amani and looked to the front to see Zack and Mato standing extremely close, forehead to forehead. s**t, I had missed them exchanging vows and a wave of guilt rushed through me. “You may now kiss your husband,” Gary said, and the two newlyweds kissed. Once again, I looked over at Amani and she smiled before she finally looked away. When they parted, everyone jumped up from their seats and cheered. I clapped as hard as I could as I watched them turn and smile shyly at everyone. Well, Mato smiled shyly while Zack looked smug. I couldn’t blame him, after everything those two had been through, it made sense that this would be their happiest day. As soon as Zack and Mato started to head down the aisle, we all followed behind them and while we all shuffled together, I felt a tug on my left hand. "Ah," I snatched my hand back in surprise, only to see Amani next to me. She smiled as she once again reached for my hand and this time I didn’t pull away. Our fingers laced together, and a tingle ran through me. I breathed in her scent, and I smiled as I looked down at her. She wore a beautiful two-piece outfit that blew me away. The top was a lovely shade of purple while the skirt was a dark shade of pink. She looked adorable and I shook my head as I tried to keep my thoughts pure. Adorable and sexy. We headed inside the hall and as everyone started to take their seats, Amani was ripped away and I gasped in surprise. “Hands off,” Gavin growled out in warning before he dragged her away to wherever they were seated. I frowned as I watched them, but I wasn’t about to make a scene, so I hurried over to where Grayson and Sierna were seated and spotted my name tag before I sat down. “Everything ok?” Grayson whispered curiously and I shook my head. “No,” I said softly. “But we’ll talk after the reception,” Grayson nodded, and we all turned to the stage, where Zack and Mato now stood. I sighed softly as I looked around the hall before my gaze fell on Amani. She had tears in her eyes and instead of watching the newlyweds up on the stage, she had her head down while her father looked to be scolding her. This only angered me, but my determination not to ruin this reception had me glued to my seat.
