(Jasper)
Ever since the night of the waterfall, Yamilet has been keeping her distance a little. Don’t get me wrong, I always love every second I spent with her, even when Brenda showed up and when it seemed she had a flashback from when my brother found her and she screamed at us. That’s how I knew she had a flashback to that day. The best part was when we went to the waterfall. Her body is pure perfection and the way she kissed me felt like fireworks, and when she grinded on me, oh goddess. I felt like I was losing it, but I had to stop and trust me. I wasn’t happy about it and neither was my Lycan, but I had to remind myself that Yamilet was still a minor, yet I still want more. Even now I want more.
“Bro, are you okay? You seem a little out of it. Actually you’ve been like that for a few days now”, Joshua points out. I sigh and run my hand down my face.
“Yamilet and I kissed” I admitted.
“Woe” Joshua says taken by surprise.
“Yeah, you can say that again. She kissed me and I didn’t stop her, but when things got… hotter I had to push her away, and now she’s being a bit distant”, I admitted, and he nodded. Just then, Yamilet walks in with Cassadra behind her.
“You know who is behind the attacks” Cassandra states. Yamilet stops her whole body frozen for a second or so before her pinky in her right hand twitches. Yamilet turns around and looks at Cassandra.
“No, I don’t” Yamilet said before turning around this time looking my way.
“Your highnesses” she bows her head before going up the stairs. Just then, one of the guards that was assigned to Yamilet walked in wearing nothing but basketball shorts.
‘Did Cassandra just say attacks? As in plural?’ Joshua asks through the link.
‘Yup’ I link back.
“Your highnesses” Brad bowed his head. I look at Cassandra, who looks down at the floor before bowing her head and leaving.
“How was the day Brad?” I ask.
“There was an attack, your highness. This time there were three rogues and all three of them headed for Yamilet. We kept one alive for interrogation in the woods. I asked Tommy to call General Henry for transportation while I checked on Yamilet. When we got back, the rogue’s neck was broken”, Brad informs me, but I can see that there was something else he wanted to say.
“Is there anything else?” I asked.
“I… uh… I don’t know, maybe it was my mind playing tricks, but I swear I caught Brenda’s scent when I went to check on the rogue” he says. I could feel Joshua’s eyes on me.
“Thank you for the update Brad. You may have the rest of the day off” I said.
“Thank you your highness” Brad bowed his head before leaving.
“That’s the second attack in less than a week. Why would someone want to kill her? I mean she’s also human”, Joshua asks.
“I have no idea, but I’m going to get to the bottom of this” I said.
“Maybe you should think about homeschooling her”, Joshua jokes, but it’s not a bad idea.
“It’s not a bad idea” I said.
“I was just joking, bro. If you do that, Yamilet will never forget you”, Joshua says.
“Then what am I going to do, Joshua? I can’t be with her all the time” I said, running a hand down my face. Just then, Yamilet comes down the stairs. She's wearing light gray leggings, a black sports bra, and a white tank top. Her hair is up in a messy bun on top of her head.
“Joshua, I’m ready for training. I’ll meet you outside” she said before walking out.
“We’ll figure something out. Right now I have to train your mate”, Joshua says, and a thought pops in my head.
“How about you be her personal guard, at least while she’s at school? She trusts you more than anyone here and I’m not in her good graces right now”, I said.
“Stop, she'll get over this anger towards you. She's just probably feeling rejected. Yamilet is your mate and like a little sister to me, so I’ll do it” he said before patting my shoulder. I was happy for one part but now I was feeling more guilty. She was feeling rejected, and it's the last thing I ever wanted her to feel.
“Now I have to go to training” he said, and I nodded. I went to my office and tried to do some work. I still couldn’t get out of my head what Brad said about getting a faint scent of Brenda where the rogue was. Could Brenda be the one doing this? I shook the thought out of my head. Brenda has always been loyal to me and the pack even before we started dating. She loves this pack too much and she would never hurt a human. But why would her scent be there when she had no reason to be around the school?
“Bro, I’ve been knocking on the door for a while and linking you. Are you okay?” Joshua says, waving his hand in front of my face. I blink a few times and look at him.
“I thought you were training Yamilet” I said, making him frown.
“I did. That was three hours ago. Are you okay?” he asks again, this time concern laced in his voice. I looked at the clock on my computer to see it was six in the evening.
“Yeah, just these attacks on Yamilet. I just want my mate to be safe”, I admitted.
“I understand, but no matter what there will always be some type of obstacle in the way. The best thing you both can do is tackle it together. If there’s another attack on her, I will be there, and we will find out who is behind these attacks”, Joshua says.
“You’re right” I said.
“I know I am. Now come on, dinner is ready” he said. I got up, turned off everything, and walked out of the office with my little brother.
“How did Yamilet do in her training?” I asked.
“She’s getting better and better every day. But there is something I wanted to talk to you about” Joshua said making me stop.
“What is it?” I asked.
“I noticed she has dark circles under her eyes when her makeup started coming off during training. I did like I didn’t noticed, but I thought you should know” Joshua said.
“Maybe she’s getting sick. The weather is changing, and she’s human”, I said.
“Yeah, but when was the last time she was sick, since we found her in the forest?” my brother questioned.
“I’ll have her go see Doctor Charles” I said, and he nodded. I walked into the dining room and noticed Yamilet wasn’t there.
“Where is Yamilet?” I asked looking around.
“She wasn’t feeling well, so I took her dinner, but she was already asleep when I got there” Cassandra said. My brother and I looked at each other before sitting down to have dinner. Once I had dinner I went straight to Yamilet’s room. I knocked on the door, but there was no answer. I could smell she was in there so I opened the door softly. I walked closer to her. Her beautiful black, curly hair is sprawled out all over her pillow. She’s lying on her stomach, without her pajamas, and the duvet barely covered her bubble butt. My Lycan growled wanting to take over. To mate and mark our beautiful mate, but it was still too soon.
‘Stop, you need to understand she is still young. We need to give her time’ I growled at my Lycan. My Lycan growled back at me but settled down. Just then my ears picked up Yamilet’s rapid beating of her heart. Soon her breathing started coming out fast as well.
‘Mate is having a nightmare’ my Lycan says. Yamilet turns on her back and that’s when I see the dark circles under her eyes. I grab the duvet and cover her full perky breasts.
“Abuela… Jasper…” (Grandma... Jasper....) she whimpers. I lay next to her and it doesn’t take long for her breathing and heartbeat to slow down. She cuddles closer to me and this has been the closest she has been to me since the waterfall. I kiss the top of her head and close my eyes.
