DIANE
As much as I anticipated the full moon, I also felt a tad bit sad because if eventually what Lucien says is true then he'd let me go and we won't be speaking to each other again.
I felt bad about it because I was starting to like him. I know it's weird but having decided to give him a chance, I realized that it's not as bad as I thought that it would be and we've been getting along.
Right now, he is telling me about werewolf because I had asked him to tell me more about his pack and I couldn't help but listen tentatively to him, something I shouldn't do but for some reason I did and I had not failed to check out his facial features against my wish.
"My pack is called the York pack and what you read about werewolves and see on the television about them isn't all true, I hope you know that," he said making me inquisitive.
"And what isn't true about it? Weren't you creatures cursed by the moon? That's why every full moon it's unbearable for them," I told him and he stared at me frantically and I shrugged.
"Creatures cursed by the moon? Maybe that is true and maybe it's not but where did you get your information from also does this mean you believe that I am a werewolf?” He asked.
"No. Not at all," I said almost immediately, although I was starting to believe it when I didn't want to I do not have a choice.
For some reason, I feel he might be saying the truth but where I refuse to believe is the part where he said I'm his mate.
I refuse to be his mate. I won't be his mate and no matter what, it won't happen. I am a teenager and Noah is the boy of my dreams and that's it.
I cannot wait to leave this place and now that I thought of it, I have to leave this place at this moment before I further disturb myself with words that might not be true.
"I... I will go to bed now, it's late and I'm tired," I told Lucien, getting up from the bed and he glanced at his wristwatch.
"It's not even eight yet so why do you want to sleep?" He questioned and I rose my brows back at him questioningly.
"I know but do I have a specific time to sleep? I barely slept early these past few days so sleeping early today is good because I need to rest properly," I replied to him and he nodded his head.
"I will walk you to your room," he said, getting up from the seat and I shook my head.
For the past few days, he has been walking me to my room but not today. I was starting to let him in and if I continued like this, I might end up asking we stay friends even if I go away and I do not want to be his friend.
"You do not have to worry. It's not as if I'm going to run away. After all, you promised to let me go when you prove to me that what you say you are is really what you are," I told him and he chuckled lightly while pinching the bridge of his nose.
"I think you have gotten that wrong. I'm not walking you up to your room to make sure that you are not running away. It's just a gentleman nature," he said and I curled my lips to the side.
"Hmmm. So that makes you a gentleman? So you mean you go around giving every woman this same treatment? Wow!" I muttered.
"You are starting to get it wrong and trust me when I tell you that it is not what it is that you are thinking about," he remarked.
"And what is it that you know that I am thinking about?" I asked as I folded my arms across my chest waiting for his reply.
"Never mind," he replied.
"No. Go on. Speak. I want to know what it is that you know after all you can read minds," I joked.
"You are one stubborn human," he remarked
"So I was told," I shrugged.
"Anyways I think I need to sleep now," I yawned, stretching my arms out.
I began to walk in the direction of the stairs and Lucien followed behind me. As soon as I reached the front of my door, I turned around to bid him Goodnight but didn't realize that he was close to me and so I bumped into him.
Damn! That's some chest he's got.
"Ouch," I muttered and I felt his hold on my arms.
I lifted my face and my eyes locked with his. There was just something about his eyes that were appealing to me and each time I locked my gaze with them, I couldn't help but love them.
I swallowed the lump that formed in my throat before suddenly feeling my mouth go dry. Goosebumps rose on my skin from his touch on me.
I immediately pulled back after some seconds, mentally trying to control myself.
"You should be careful," he cleared his throat and I nodded my head.
There was some intense tension for some seconds before it completely vanished.
"I will. Goodnight and now you can go back to your room or to whatever you have to do," I told him.
"Okay." He nodded his head before turning around to leave.
I heaved a sigh of relief as I placed my palm on my chest. After some seconds, I opened the door and went into my room.
I lie on my bed and closed my eyes to sleep but for some reason, I was unable to sleep. It wasn't as if I came here to sleep in the first place. I only said I was sleepy simply because I was getting too comfortable or rather I've become comfortable with Lucien over the past few days and I do not like it.
After some minutes of tossing and turning on the bed, I suddenly felt thirsty and decided to go get water for myself downstairs.
The closer I got to the living room, the clearer I could hear voices. I had to walk past the living room to get to the kitchen so who is in the living room speaking to Lucien?
I walked discreetly so as not to pull any attention towards me but in the long run, I almost tripped and all eyes landed on me making me a little nervous.
I saw an elderly woman and man looking at me with questioning looks on their face and I felt I had interrupted them.
"I'm so sorry, please carry on," I told them before walking hastily to the kitchen to drink water.
The moment I entered the kitchen, I let out a sigh of relief. I wasn't comfortable with the way they stared at me.
LUCIEN
After walking Diane to her room, I go back downstairs only to see my parents entering my place unannounced. I wasn't expecting them. They didn't tell me they'd be coming and this made me a little worried.
My parents never visit unannounced. It's not something they do and if they eventually do, there is a solid reason for it.
"Mom, dad. What brings you here?" I questioned.
"I see you find our presence unwelcoming and why would you ask us that before properly welcoming us?" My mother chided and I quickly go closer to her.
My mother is the female version of myself but older. While I look exactly like my father, I had my mother's personality and temper.
"Don't come closer to me," she tells me and I halted on my track.
"Why have you decided to punish us and the entire Pack Lucien?" My mother asked while my father makes his way to make himself comfortable on the couch.
At that moment, we heard a sound and we all turn to see Diane.
Damn! I thought she had gone to sleep so what had brought her here? My parents would know she's human and my mother would ask a question.
I was yet to tell anyone who my mate is and I have no intentions of telling them now simply because having a human mate is forbidden in the pack but that was before and how do I explain all of this to them?
I ran my finger through my hair as I watch her apologize before Walking away.
"A human? What is she doing here?" My mother questioned, her voice lower than she normally spoke and I was grateful for that I do not want Diane to know or suspect anything.
Shortly Diane walked past us and I heaved a sigh of relief knowing she had gone. I turn to my mother who has a questioning expression on her face with her arms folded across her chest.
"What's a human doing in here?" She asked.
"I..."
"I don't even know what to do with you at this point Lucien. It seems you have forgotten who you are and your future and as if that's not enough, you bring a human to your home? To do what? Who is she and why is she here worse she's a teenager!" My mother expatriates, leaving no room for me to answer one question before she asks another.
I rubbed the back of my neck.
"She's human. Yeah, that's true and she's a high schooler. Now that I've answered that what brings you are and why have you so fired up mom?" I asked.
"I have every reason to. At this point, you should remember where you are from and your duties," she fired.
"I know my duties and I know where I am from," I told her, knowing where she was heading to.
"Is that why you came? If so then you do not have to worry. I have things all planned and the..."
"Just stop this. Please stop this. Everyone at York pack found their mate at age eighteen to twenty and you didn't find yours. It's either your mate is dead or your mate rejected you and so you are mateless or maybe your mate is right in front of you and you have refused to acknowledge her," my mom said.
She's referring to Emily. My parents love Emily. They see her as their daughter and the entire pack loves her too. Everyone saw Emily and I as the perfect match and waited for the time we will both be each other's mates but that time never came.
Since Emily hasn't found her mate like me then they believe we are both each other's mates. The difference is, I did see my mate in my dream at age eighteen and saw her in person at age twenty and I had to wait for her to be old enough be approaching her and so I decided to leave and focus on my business to not be disturbed.
"Emily is not my mate and therefore we both cannot be," I said in a firm tone.
"When who is your mate? You don't have one if I remember correctly," she retorted.
I clenched my fist and bit my tongue from saying anything about my mate.
I wanted to tell her that I'd found my mate but that would make be a situation more complicated than it already is.
Firstly I already promised to let Diane go and secondly having a human mate is forbidden. I also do not understand it all but I will have to understand the reason for it all before announcing to them who my mate is.
"Father, speak to mother," I involved my father who seem less concerned about what was going on.
My father does this all the time. While my mother talks, he doesn't involve himself.
"What do you want me to say?"
"I don't know but if mom won't drop this topic down then I won't be entertaining it. I won't be making Emily my luna and that's it," I said firmly before walking away.
"Come back here Lucien, I'm not done talking to you," she demanded but I didn't stop walking.
