Chapter four: Typical foodie

“Ahh I see. Thank you” Diane said smiling as her eyes curved up wards around the edges like half-moons mesmerizing Aiden into them, she felt really warm inside, Aiden was always so attentive to her, knowing all her work schedules and school timetable she really didn’t know what she did to deserve him.

“So you have completed all you came to do here?” she asked as he started the car to which he only nodded “I got you some Chinese when I passed by ‘The Town place’. It’s at the back” he said pointing to a brown food pack in the back seat.

Diane was thrilled, she loved Chinese so much, but the prices were usually so high so she hardly got to eat it. Her favorite Chinese restaurant was ‘The Town place’ they had various local cuisines with Michelin chefs in charge of.

Their food always tasted exquisite and beautiful. She would never have imagined that Aiden arriving here to do some work will give her the opportunity to not only get a free ride but to also get a meal from ‘The Town place’ she wished Aiden would just stay here all year long.

“Thank you so much” she said as she threw her petite body into his arms, making the car sway a little as she quickly sat properly back. “I wish you could stay here all the time, I’ll get free rides and free meals. What could beat that” she added smiling at him so brightly that Aiden had to shake his head twice to get rid of the thoughts that made him want to pull her into his hands and kiss her silly.

“You will be done with school soon, what are your plans. To stay here or to change city?” Aiden asked her, changing the momentum of the conversation.

“I was not sure at first, I will also have to go home to see my father for a while, I haven’t seen him in five years” Diane paused as she thought of her father that she hadn’t seen in so long. “But Mrs Houston handed my thesis and a recommendation from her to Celestial, if I get employed, I’ll definitely stay here” she added smiling as she saw Aiden’s eyes flash in surprise.

“Celestial? That’s amazing” he said happy for her but also sad that he couldn’t convince her to come to his city and work in one of their companies so that she could be closer to him.

“You won’t visit your dad again if you get accepted?” he asked after a moment of silence, he felt that it was very important since Diane had been looking forward to it for a long time.

“I’ll go either ways, if I get employed by celestial, I’ll go before I start work. If not, I’ll go home and then send my applications to different organizations while I’m with my dad, I’ll only return after I get employed” she explained in detail to him because she had always shared all her plans with him and to also know his opinion on the matter.

Aiden also felt that was a well laid plan, as they both knew that her getting employed was not a question, Diane was very qualified, the important thing was getting to spend time with her daddy and since that was already set in stone, he had no worries again. Besides even if she didn’t want to come to his family’s company to work, he could always make some calls and let her get to the ones she applied for.

“Your exams are in one month’s time, are you sure you don’t want to stop work for a while?” he had been bothered about her heavy schedule and he hoped that it wouldn’t affect her grades or make her fall sick during the exam since she was taking a final exam for her degree and a final post graduate exam also. That was too much to combine with the back and forth for work.

Diane chuckled as she looked at the worried Aiden “aren’t you aware of my super powers?” she replied jokingly to which she got an eye roll in return from Aiden “okay, calm down, I’m stopping this restaurant work this week. And I already told the company that I would like to switch my mode of work to working from home to which they have agreed.”

“So it’s all fine, you don’t have to get so worried” she said her hands raised in mock surrender “what of the tutoring job?” Aiden asked ignoring her playing antics, he was used to it already.

“Daniel’s exam is in two weeks, I can’t possibly just back out now, so I’ll keep tutoring him till then, by the time he’s done, it will be just in time for my exams also.

There won’t be any interference.” She didn’t just work for money, she found it of primary importance if her employers were satisfied with her performance and she was not one to value money over her quality of service.

So after she realized that Daniel had just two more weeks to exam, she decided she had to stay till he wrote his exams, she understood that the little boy might find it a bit difficult to adapt to her another tutor in such a short time thus she made such a decision.

Aiden also approved of her considerations after she explained the matter completely and he nodded in satisfaction.

They had arrived in front of her dormitory already, he wished her school was a lot farther from her work place, as he had driven the car slowly, but he felt like they still arrived too quickly in her dormitory.

“I should be here for about two to three more days, I’ll come and see you tomorrow once I get the chance” Aiden said because as much as he wanted to keep seeing her, he wanted her to go in and get some rest.

“Okay then, you don’t have to stress yourself, if the work is too much, you can forget about coming to see me. Don’t let your body get too tired out” she said chiding him in the process, she didn’t want him going through the stress of seeing her every day while still trying to complete his assignment in the process.

“Yes mom” Aiden replied mockingly, as he squinted his eyes at the glaring Diane, he wondered how she had the cheeks to tell someone not to get too tired when she worked so hard like this all the time. But he understood that she was just worrying for him thus he didn’t drag it on. “okay time to go to bed” he said as he got down chuckling, he came to the other side of the car and opened the door for her before opening the back seat door to take the food pack from ‘The Town place’ and handed it over to her.

“Can’t believe I almost forgot my food, I would have had a hard time sleeping if I had actually forgotten it with you” she said as she clapped her palm on her forehead. “You know I would have brought it back, stop acting like you would have cried or something” Aiden chided her with an eye roll. Diane could be a drama queen at times .

After a quick hug and goodnight, Diane went to her room and Aiden waited for her to go to her room before driving off.
