Cheyenne’s P.O.V
It had been several weeks since we had been on our new territory and everything was going great. The gardens were growing lovely and the pack was growing as well. A few of the she-wolves had found their mates and were now pregnant. The guard station was now built and the training grounds had been levelled so that everything could be set up and put to use. Everything was going good so far, but I wanted to have a get together, to have my kids over and to also invite Mercury, Holly and their children over, if they would come over that is. If they didn’t then that would be fine and I would respect their decision. After all, I can’t keep hoping that I’m going to see him, even though I want to, I know that I can’t. We live so close to each other and yet we are still so far apart and it made me wonder if I mind-linked him, would he answer? I guess I could try, I mean it couldn’t hurt, right?
“Mercury, this is Cheyenne. I just wanted to see how things are and if you, Holly and your children would like to come over for a family get together?” I said, mind-linking him. We were still able to mind-link because we were in a way still bonded as mates. I really wasn’t sure if he was going to reply or not, so I carried on cleaning the house. I know that we had people to do the cleaning, but I wasn’t going to just stand around and watch them, so I started helping clean and after the cleaning was done I started dinner. We were having Chinese and I was making it instead of ordering it in. I liked to cook and each time I would try a new recipe, some worked and others were a complete mess, but I never gave up. I was starting with rice and beef, cutting the tomatoes and onions up, then adding a little minced garlic in the pan and cooking all of the veggies and meat together and then I cooked the rice separately. When everything was finally done I cooked the shrimp and after that was done the helpers placed all the food in the dining hall, then rang the bell so everyone would know that dinner was ready. I had cooked enough to feed the whole pack, but Ace was working, so I fixed each of us a plate up and then took it to his office. I knew that he had been very busy today, setting up fences and new border patrols so that rogues couldn’t get in, so I knew that he hadn’t had a chance to eat anything since breakfast, but when I got near his office I heard raised voices and knew that something was wrong.
“IF YOU DON’T GET THE f**k OUT OF MY FACE RIGHT NOW I SWEAR I WILL BREAK YOUR f*****g NECK!!! I HAVE TOLD YOU TIME AND TIME AGAIN THAT I DON’T WANT YOU, BUT STILL YOU COME IN HERE AND TRY!!! WHEN MY MATE IS SOMEWHERE IN THIS HOUSE YOU STILL HAVE THE NERVE TO COME IN HERE!!!” Ace shouted out and then I heard him growl and start to shift. I dropped the plates of food and shoved the door open, shocked at what I saw. There was a female I had never seen before, wearing next to nothing, cowering on the floor near the couch. I saw Ace shifting and rushed over to him, hoping to calm him down.
“Ace, baby, I’m here, calm down. You don’t need to destroy your office, calm down. Who is this b***h?” I asked and the woman snarled at me.
“Care to tell me who the f**k you are, b***h?” I asked, turning to face her and she smirked at me.
“I’m his ex and we imprinted on each other, but then I found my mate. He rejected me last week, so now I’m back to claim what is mine. You’re just a simple wolf girl, so if I was you I would leave this house and hand Ace over to me, like a good little mutt.” The woman replied and I just shook my head. Before she could say or do anything I ran at her and shoved her through the wall, making her land on her ass in the hallway as bits of the wall fell around her. Courtney must have heard the noise because she came running into the hallway and stopped in her tracks when she saw me picking the woman up by her throat.
“Who the f**k are you, b***h?” I asked once again and she still smirked.
“I’m Mandy, bitch.” The woman I now knew as Mandy replied and kicked me in the knee. I growled as I threw her outside and followed after her, but then she quickly got back up and dusted herself off, so I did a roundhouse kick and kicked her in the face. She went flying back and growled when she hit the ground, but then she started to shift.
“If you shift, b***h, then be prepared to die.” I said, but she didn’t listen. Instead she shifted into her wolf and I smirked as I watched her because she didn’t know that I had the power of the wind. My eyes shut as the wind started to come as called, then it got stronger and a small tornado formed, picking Mandy up and tossing her into the woods. None of us knew if she landed safely or if she even survived the fall, but I didn’t care. I walked back into the house and saw the gaping hole that used to be a wall.
“I thought you told me to calm down and not destroy my office?” Ace said, laughing as he poked his head through the huge hole.
“Yeah, well, she pissed me off.” I replied, laughing as I stepped through the hole and into his office.
“Remind me never to piss you off.” Ace said, making me smirk.
“I wonder when these bitches are going to learn not to f**k with me and that you’re my mate. Next time I’ll kill whoever the b***h is.” I said, kissing him just as Courtney walked into the office using the door.
“Remind me never to piss you off, I would rather not be flying through the air, even if it is with the greatest of ease.” Courtney said and we all laughed at her circus joke. Suddenly my stomach rumbled and I looked at the floor where the plates of dinner I had made were now lying in a mess. I wonder if there was any dinner left in the dining hall, I thought to myself as we made our way there. I was starving now and everyone else had eaten their dinner, cleaned up and left. Thankfully there was still some food left, so we piled our plates up, ate and then cleaned the rest up. After dinner Courtney went to her room to be with her mate, Victor and Ace and I went to our room. He jumped in the shower, so I put the TV on and started to watch a movie. I was half way through the movie when I got a weird tingling sort of sensation in the back of my head and I knew that someone was trying to mind-link me, so I opened the connection up.
“Hey Cheyenne, sorry I couldn’t reply sooner, I was on a collection and couldn’t talk. I will talk to Holly about it and see what she says, but you know the kids would love to come. I’m actually glad that you linked me because I was thinking of linking you to talk, but I just can’t find the words of what I want to say right now. Maybe we can talk more later, I’ll let the kids know you want to have a get together and I’ll speak to Holly, just let me know when.” Mercury said, mind-linking me back and I was shocked that he actually got back to me. I wonder what he wanted to talk to me about, but I just shrugged it off as he had said not right now.
“How about tomorrow afternoon? I’ll let Ace know and we can have a BBQ, just let me know who's coming, take care, Mercury.” I replied and ended the link. Just as I turned back to the TV Ace walked into the bedroom, wearing nothing but a towel around his waist. Hell to the yeah, I thought to myself, licking my lips as he wiggled his eyebrows at me.
Mercury’s P.O.V
I wasn’t really doing a collection when Cheyenne mind-linked me, but I just couldn’t find the right words to say to her. I couldn’t believe that she linked me and my heart was racing the whole time. I knew that I missed her and wanted to see her, but I also knew that we needed to talk, but how? We both had mates now, so even if we touched or ended up kissing they would feel it, so I stayed away from her, knowing it was best. I had a mate and I was faithful to her, but I wanted so much to see her. When she shut the link off Holly walked into my office and I decided I was going to tell her the truth. I couldn’t and wouldn’t lie to her about Cheyenne mind-linking me and what she had asked.
“Cheyenne mind-linked me, she wants to have a family get together and she wants you and I to come as well. We can bring Rachel and her mate as well, if they want to come. She said something about having a BBQ.” I said and Holly just stood there, thinking. After a few minutes she found her words and looked at me.
“That would be really nice, but are you sure that you want me to come? It’s a family thing, Mercury and I would just be in the way when there should be only family there.” Holly replied, causing me to sigh.
“Holly, she invited us, that means you are coming, meaning that you are my family and I don’t care what people say. If they don’t want you there then I won’t go either. Besides, nothing is going to happen, it's just a get together, that's all.” I said and she nodded.
“Alright, I’ll have the sitter watch Bryce.” Holly replied and I nodded as we left my office and went upstairs to our bedroom. We both laid in the bed and I pulled her closer to me. I knew that she was still feeling insecure and it needed to stop. Yes, I still love Cheyenne and yes, I miss her, but it doesn’t mean that I love Holly any less.
“Maybe we don’t need to go, let the kids go and spend time with their mother, that's the important thing.” I said and Holly nodded as she held me back just as tightly.
Holly’s P.O.V
I knew that Cheyenne had mind-linked Mercury because he forgot to block the link from me, but I decided to see if he would tell me and when I walked into his office he did just that. I know that I was insecure and that I didn’t have to be, but I couldn’t help it. She was his first love and the love of his life, nothing would take that away. Maybe I should let him go and see what happens? When Mercury pulled me closer to him and told me that we didn’t have to go, I felt a little relieved, but then I felt guilty. I was the reason he had said that and it didn’t feel right keeping him from a family get together because of my own doubts. Mercury dropped off to sleep and I stayed awake, thinking long and hard about tomorrow, then I came to a decision. In the morning I was going to make him go and I was going to go with him. There was no way I was going to disrespect her like this, not when she hadn’t done anything to me except be kind. I know that it’s going to take some time to fully trust him around her, but in time things will fall into place.
