Chapter 43 - You already miss him?

2017 Words
The exploration this time went smoothly but was cut short. They moved seamlessly forward. It was a while before they started seeing dark fairies and finding places to hide in. It went well. It would seem their sight in this dark place is also challenged. Despite hiding behind trees that definitely didn’t cover their whole bodies, they weren’t found out. The king gestured for them to go around the small camp they stumbled upon and onwards they continued. There they somewhat scrambled to hide from the wolf-like beasts and their owners. Vince made use of an enchantment to conceal half of them. A pity Nate couldn’t remember what enchantment it was and Vince can only focus on three of them. They managed to go past this group with a little difficulty. They continued, but then… “Quick, hide. Don’t let anyone see or notice.” The king barked the order in a measured tone. The lights that would take them back appeared in only an hour. This time, due to their distances from each other they weren’t able to hold hands. What would happen? Will they all be able to return safely? At the king’s order, they maintained their position and let the lights envelope them. There was a rustling and a shout, and then they were gone. They all stumbled upon their return to the castle. “Oww…” Aaron exclaimed as he hit his head on the table in the center of the recreation hall. He was situated under it. They were scattered in the hall, with as much distance from each other as they were back in the land of the fae. “Thank goodness.” Nate muttered under her breath. She wouldn’t know what to do if they all got separated or if someone didn’t reappear with them. The King slowly got up from his position on the ground and waited for the others to stand as well. It was only one hour and they were able to accomplish much, thanks to the potion. They would have easily attracted enemies like last time if they didn’t have it. “You’ve all done well. I am grateful for everyone’s help. For us to have moved much distance today, it is an accomplishment. We will try again in seven days, with everyone.” “It is nothing, your highness. We are grateful to be of service.” Corrine replied with a bow. This is the reason they came, of course. It is a way for them to prove themselves, too. What have they been training for if not for moments like these? They bowed as the king exited after a few more words of reminder. A bountiful breakfast in the morning! Alec was immensely pleased. Vince walked out with his father to get his permission for his and Nate’s activities tomorrow. They are eager to try that one enchantment they found. As it was already dark, everyone proceeded to their own rooms while asking their respective servants to get them food. Aaron went straight to Hannah’s room. He hesitated for a second before he knocked. No one answered. As he was about to knock again, the guard on Nate’s side of the room informed him that Hannah isn’t in. He was a guard from the northeast. She isn’t in? But what time is it now? He shook his head, a little disoriented. They’ve only spent an hour in that dimension and yet it was already night in this world. Though he’d been tired, it wasn’t to the point that he’ll go to bed to sleep already. “Thank you.” He slightly bowed at the guard. After taking a step, he paused. Would she be in his room? At that thought, he quickly fled to his room. Indeed, she was waiting for him in his bed. She looked up from a book she was reading when he opened the door. “Are you all back? It hasn’t been a day.” She noted as she stood up to receive him. “Yeah. I went to your room and they said you weren’t there.” She was a little surprised to hear it, but a smile bloomed from her lips. “I’m glad.” Then, she looked hesitant. “Are you uncomfortable with me coming to your room like this?” This is only the second time, still… she should know how he feels about her intrusion. “I don’t mind.” He went ahead to take a change of clothes before washing up. Hannah only watched from the side. Well, his voice was gentle. She sat down on a corner of the bed as she continued to flip through the book she was holding. Potions. If she asks the king to prepare a room for her to make potions, would he provide it? This is one of those times she felt she wasted the years behind her. She could’ve learned more things instead of wallowing in her fate and acting noble. Aaron did say that he won’t be sleeping early, but he is tired. He’ll probably wake up after a few hours if he sleeps now. “What did you do today?” He asked as he pulled the blanket and laid on the bed. He didn’t bother with the blanket. The weather during the day is hot and even the evenings are stifling. “Hmm? I trained with Pyro today. He made this huge piece of ice and he had difficulty making it disappear. It cooled the place down even when the sun is high up.” It was very useful, though the king would probably do a better job. On second thought, maybe not. His is accompanied by mist which would make it hard to see especially if they’re reading. “Come here.” Aaron tapped the space on his side and she brightened up at the chance to get close to him. He pulled her down when she got close, inhaling her scent as he closes his eyes. Alright, he’d admit that he’s exhausted. They did climb uphill which was a challenge, even if he only used his magic on few occasions. Hannah found him deeply breathing against her forehead. Has he fallen asleep? Just like that? She reached out to push his hair out of his handsome face. As he surmised, he woke up very early in the morning. As he moved to sit, his arm was obstructed by a sleeping body next to him. She slept in his room again. Though he carefully took his arm from under her, she still woke up. Her eyes fluttered open. “Hmm, have you rested well?” She stretched her body without reserve, yawning as she did so. It wasn’t lady-like but it put a smile on Aaron’s face. She does act like his age. Aaron moved over her and captured her lips. She wasn’t expecting it and froze. She blinked a few times as he opened his eyes to look at hers. She melted, then, reaching out to cling to his neck as she responded with as much passion to his kisses. Of course, it didn’t stop there. “Are you still sore?” He rasped against her ear as he pressed wet kisses all over her face. His hand roaming against her upper body and giving her breasts a massage. She moaned against his skin, breathing heavily with desire. “No. I’m fine now.” She badly wanted him again. He was gentle and did give her so much pleasure the previous night. He didn’t remove her dress, only hiking up the skirt as he ran his hand up her legs. She trembled in anticipation. Her dazed look was seductive to Aaron. He wasn’t about to get naked but her hands urging him to made it happen. The sun has risen before they have satisfied their desires. Still, they’re earlier than the others. They arrived at the dining hall and were talking about another training idea she had for him. A servant came to inform them that the king won’t be able to join as he has a few businesses to take care of. The food was being served when Alec and Corrine showed up. Then, Nate. “Where’s Vince?” Aaron asked as she sat next to him. Seeing Aaron, she’s reminded of their conversation last night. She propped her chin on one hand as she looked at the others. “The king summoned him for something.” She sighed as she reached for a piece of bread. “You already miss him?” Aaron raised an eyebrow. She chuckled. Why do they always assume that? “Remember that enchantment he used yesterday? I was upset because I couldn’t remember it. I reviewed a book last night.” Hannah hadn’t heard yet the events of yesterday so she asked Corrine on the side. They ate as she slowly narrated the events that occurred. Without Vince on her side, she had time to recall their conversation and mull it over. She asked about the enchantment he used and he pulled the book from his drawer. She was studying it before he became physical with her. Well, he only lavished her with kisses and made her breathless but it was still enough to make her crave for more. Unlike Aaron, they are much younger than him. She was aware of the relations between Aaron and Hannah. She and Vince both confirmed that they spent that night together. She even confirmed last night that they were together again. “You’ve been thinking about it?” She asked Vince as she pulled back, catching her breath. He’d always kept his hands on her waist, never once venturing elsewhere. He had such self-control. Before answering, he pressed kisses on her neck while also savoring her unique scent. He stopped when she whimpered. “I know my limits.” He replied. He remembers Queen Natasha’s words when she allowed them to stay and sleep in the same room. He wouldn’t betray the queen’s trust. Nate’s innocence was also a factor he considered. Not once did she initiate anything more than a kiss and a hug. He respects her wishes as well. “But you’re still a man.” Nate noted. He already turned eighteen while she will be in two months’ time. He grunted as he lay on the bed, tucking her on his side. “Well, at least you’re aware of that fact.” Nate was worried. Worried that he’s uncomfortable from holding back and worried as well that he won’t be able to hold himself back for long, given their exposure to Aaron and Hannah’s relationship. It’s so easy to compare themselves to them and ask why theirs was different. “You know why…” Vince replied. She realized she unknowingly voiced out her concerns. “We’re different from them. More eyes are on us and people do have their expectations. Aaron… even Hannah’s choosing to be a commoner. They don’t have to care much for people’s opinion. Whereas we have to follow certain rules and ensure people remain to have respect for us.” Nate could understand as much. “I understand.” “I’m content being able to hold you like this.” He tightened his hold on her and she laid her head on his chest. “Me, too.” Then, she chuckled. “But still, you would be waiting for four years?” “Only me? Aren’t you as well?” He teased, tickling her sides. She laughed hard until her sides ache. That was the real reason she was exhausted. He didn’t let her off until she reluctantly admitted it. What can the two of them do, except wait? “It has been a while since we kept saving each other.” She noted as she returned to his side. She glared at him to ensure he won’t be tickling her anymore. “These days, we’re almost in tune in everything we do. You sound as if you’d rather we be in dire situations where we have to save each other?” “Of course not.” She rolled her eyes at him and pinched his arm on her waist. “I fear we’d be in that situation within a year. Given how we kept invading the dark lands, father would have a plan to win soon.” “I’m afraid seven, eight people won’t be enough to take an army.” “It won’t be just us. I’m sure the fairies would be mobilized as well. Father would coordinate it through my grandfather.” He grimaced at mentioning his fairy grandfather. That doesn’t sound right. Nate chuckled at his expression.
