Chapter 6- The Party Was Spoiled

1006 Words
“What a good-for-nothing you are! Do you think you can stand against me?” Leo said with haughty disdain.   “I’m warning you for the last time. Apologize to Mandy, and then slap yourself hard across the face. Otherwise, I’ll deal with you hard.” Elvis said coldly, his eyes blazing with fury.   “Ha-ha-ha- How dare you to say so? Who is backing you up?” Leo jeered.     “How dare he speak so to Leo? Does he think he still has his family backing him up?”   “How could he be so arrogant? This is Leo’s territory.”   …   The guests jeered one after another. They were deeply scornful of Elvis for he was unable to guard his family property. Only those, who had met Elvis at the George’s, kept silent, quietly stepping back.   “Shut up!” Elvis snapped. In a flash he rushed up to Leo, looking the latter straight in the eye. His eyes were now blazing with anger, which made Leo’s blood run cold.   The next moment, there was a resounding slap as Elvis struck Leo violently across the face. Before Leo could do anything about it, he was floored, and half his face was all battered and bruised.   “You dumb son of a b***h! I’m gonna kill you!” With his hand covering his swollen face, Leo yelled at the top of his voice.   “Damn you! How dare you beard the lion in his den?” shouted one of Leo’s six bodyguards.   The next moment, the six bodyguards whipped out their batons and rushed up to Elvis.   Expressionless, Elvis punched the lead bodyguard and broke the bridge of his nose.   The lead bodyguard was catapulted at the two bodyguards who were following close behind him. The three of them fell to the ground together. As for the remaining three bodyguards, they were kicked away by Elvis before they could go near him.   The battle was over before it had begun.   Seeing that, the guests in the banquet hall stood in silence. Elvis stood with such regal dignity, making their blood run cold.   Mandy, however, was different from them. She looked at Elvis with love in her eyes, happiness flooding her heart.   With several resounding slaps, Elvis struck those who had just poured ridicule on him violently across the face. They deserved it for they hadn’t heeded his warning.   It made the other guests shake in their shoes. They were afraid that they would be next.   Shocked and outraged, Leo, who was still lying on the floor, looked at Elvis with intense hatred.   ‘Now that Elvis had spoiled the party, the Smiths would surely deal with him hard. Elvis and his family would be in dead trouble!’ Leo thought to himself.   As the situation became ever more serious, a security officer immediately slipped out of the banquet hall to inform the steward of the Smiths.   After a while, surrounded by a group of bodyguards, a stout middle-aged man walked into the banquet hall.   “What’s going on?” Looking around the banquet hall, the man asked, frowning.   In fact, on his way here, he had got a rough idea of what had happened. But he didn’t want to rush to judgment on this until he got down to the specifics.   “It’s his fault, Bob! He dares to slap us!” Leo raised himself from the ground at the sight of Bob, pointing at Elvis, and said.   “Elvis is too arrogant. He must be severely punished!”   “Obviously, he intends to undermine our cooperation with the Scott Smiths by sabotaging the party!”   The guests who had just been slapped said one after another.   Bob frowned as he heard their words. He was not utterly convinced of that. There was little doubt, however, that Elvis had slapped them.   “Throw Elvis out of the banquet hall at once!” Without further inquiry, Bob said to his bodyguards.   In his view, whatever the reason, Elvis had crossed the line this time. The Smith family was the most prestigious family at home, so no one was allowed to challenge its authority.   At the thought of that, he didn’t need Elvis’s explanation of the matter. Of course he would not give him a chance to explain it.   Mandy went white as a sheet when she heard Bob’s words.   ‘There was no chance of her getting cooperation with the Smiths this time.’ She thought to herself in despair.   Elvis gently took Mandy’s hand, signaling her to set her mind at rest.   Then he gave Bob a significant glance, and warned, “You’d better think twice before you make some stupid mistake. You simply can’t afford to offend me.”   Elvis’s words made Bob’s heart miss a beat. As the steward of the Smiths, Bob had seen lots of members of the nobility, so he had a feeling that Elvis might be a man of high distinction. He hurried to stop his bodyguards, choosing to let Scott Smith, the host of this party, decide what to do with Elvis.   “Ridiculous! How dare you say so?”   “You are now nothing more than a stray dog!”   “What a good-for-nothing you are! You’re even unable to hold on to your family property!”   …   Elvis’s words caused gales of jeers. None of the guests thought Elvis was able to stand against the Smiths.   However, at the same time, Scott Smith, the host of this party, walked into the banquet hall.   Scott wore a look of amazement at the sight of Elvis.   Unable to contain his excitement, he exclaimed, “Mr. George, it’s you, I can’t believe it, what a surprise!”
