"Shit." Trevor mumbled while holding back his own breathe as well as the other three while they were standing and their backs touching the wall. They have to stay in their position so the monster won't notice them.
Monsters are blind and all they could use to sense their prey are their nose and their ears, but since the room is filled with some contraceptive spell for monsters not to smell in every room inside the mansion, then the best thing they could do is not to make any sound as much as possible.
But Lexi wondered how would the monster know that there are people inside the room where they're staying.
Another more seconds, Jisu felt like she's going to pass out. Trevor noticed her and he held her tightly, telling her to hold on. The monster moved his head left and right, when he smelled nothing and heard nothing, he turned his big feet and left the room.
"Fuck." Jisu mumbled as she plopped down on the floor and fill her lungs with a much needed oxygen. Trevor walked to the door to check if it's already safe, no monsters on sight, so he looked back and signalled the other three to follow him at the room across them. Lexi grabbed Jazen's hand and grabbed Jisu's collar and pulled her up to stand on her feet.
"Quick." Trevor whispered as low as he could but enough for them to hear. He opens the door carefully, trying not to make any creaking sound and asks everyone to enter, then he closes it again and he's almost lifting up the door.
Then Lexi and Jisu helped each other to push the bed to block the door, even the shelf, the table, and everything they could use.
"How did that monster know that there are people inside that room?" Jazen asked confusedly.
"That's what I'm thinking earlier." Lexi agreed to her and she walked to the corner and sat down. "I don't think it's just a coincidence."
"Or maybe they're having keen sixth sense now." Jisu commented which made Lexi and Trevor chuckled. "What's funny?"
"That's impossible, as far as I know, they only have keen nose and keen ears." Trevor said.
"It's not really surprising that you know about those monsters." Jazen scoffed meaningfully. She's still mad at the two but in this kind of situation, she will need them to save herself from the danger around the mansion.
"Yeah, after the incident, I did research about them, though I don't get much information since the government is hiding it to people but Trevor is right." Lexi agreed to her best friend and she ignored the remarks of her girlfriend.
"Okay, but did any of you leave their phone outside the door?" Jisu asked what she noticed before they transferred into another room. The other three exchange glances then look back to Jisu and shake their heads.
"They took all of our things before they brought us here." Lexi said.
"Then whose phone is that?" Jisu asked.
"I don't know." Lexi shrugged her shoulders.
"Do you think they are trying to get us killed by those monsters?" Jazen looked at the door when they started hearing snarling and heavy footsteps, which meant the monsters were back in the hallway.
"That's the only explanation we could conclude for now." Lexi said in a dismissively tone as she stretched her arms to Jazen. "Come here and have a nap."
Jazen looked at her, stared at her for a few seconds, while Trevor and Jisu stared at her too, as if waiting for her to refuse. But after a few moments, Jazen let out a sigh and she padded over Lexi, sat down next to her girlfriend and leaned her head on Lexi's shoulder.
Jisu and Trevor quickly looked away to avoid that painful sight for them. Both have feelings for Lexi so both of them felt jealousy, but what can they do? That's the girlfriend and they were just both friends of Lexi.
"You should take a rest too." Trevor said to Jisu.
"I already had my sleep earlier before the monster broke the door." Jisu chuckled as she sat in front of the door and her back facing the couple behind.
"Then I guess we'll have to take all nighter to guard them." Trevor sat next to Jisu.
"Yeah." Jisu agreed to him as they both chuckled dryly. "I wonder if everyone is fine." She mumbled.
Chantelle shot her eyes open when she heard footsteps outside. She stared at the door and waited for something to happen, but she knows that whoever is walking outside, those are not monsters.
Because the monster's footsteps are heavy, unlike the ones outside the door, it's as if there are people walking back and forth, trying to locate their location. She looked at the others and they were all sleeping aside from Iris, who's looking back at her, it's as if she was talking with Chantelle using her eyes.
Then suddenly, there's a ringtone blasted behind the door, followed by running heavy footsteps. "Wake up!" Chantelle yelled when the monsters started breaking the door. Denver and Lei stood up quickly and they ran to the door to hold all of the things they used to block the door, even Han who's still severely injured help the two other boys. Siena saw a light under the bed, she crawled down and reached for it. When she successfully had a hold against it, she took it out and saw a phone ringing.
Iris immediately looked under the c***k of the door and she saw the foot of several monsters outside. "Turn off that f*****g phone!" She growled and so Siena immediately turned it off, but the monsters ate while still trying to break the door. "Who the hell threw that phone in here?!"
"I don't know, but one thing is for sure, they are helping the monsters to track us down!" Chantelle groaned as she stood up from her seat and found anything she could use to add it from blocking the door. "Help me here!" She yelled to Siena and Iris who immediately went behind the bookshelf and they tried to push it but it didn't even budge a bit.
"Wait, what if this is one of those hidden doors similar to what Lexi found." Denver said. Chantelle and Iris started looking for anything that could trigger to open the secret door if it has one.
"Here!" Siena yelled and she pulled down four books that stick together from the top of the shelf and Denver was right, it was a secret door. The shelf moved to the side, creating a way behind it. They let Han get inside first since he can't walk straight, then Siena and Iris went inside.
"Get in here boys!" Chantelle yelled. Denver looked at Lei and he nodded to his brother.
"Go first, I'll follow." He said.
"I'm not going to leave you here, dumbass. Mom will scold me." Lei chuckled, then he looked over his shoulder. "Go in, we'll just run before the door closes."
"Ugh! I don't want drama! Just get the hell in here and leave that door!" Chantelle groaned and stomped her feet on the floor.
"Fine." Lei sighed loudly and he suddenly grabbed Denver's hand and they both ran to the secret room behind the shelf. Chantelle gave a last glance at the door where the monsters successfully broke the door but all the stuff blocking it stopped them from getting in easily.
Iris pulled Chantelle inside and the shelf moved back to its place. They were safe but they couldn't see anything, it was so dark and smelled so awful. Siena blinked her eyes to adjust her vision in the dark with the help of the moonlight coming from the glass window on the corner, which also helped her to have a sight on the torch and a match on the corner.
She walked towards it and when the fire started illuminating the room, the explanation of the awful smells came to their sight. There are rotting dead bodies of monsters inside, maybe two or three, then some human bones of which they conclude they were the bones of children.
"Ugh!" Siena shrieked as she gagged upon seeing those rotten bodies of monsters.
"s**t, are they still alive?" Denver asked frighteningly.
"I don't think so, it looks like they were trapped in here for so many years and just died a week before." Chantelle said while she's examining the bodies.
"Wait, so they were here for over 10 years?" Iris asked in amusement.
"How did you know that?" Chantelle asked suspiciously.
"Oh, so you guys weren't aware about Lexi?" Iris asked in disbelief. "She was a survivor of the monster's attack ten years ago and she's from this place." She said
"No way!" Denver gasped. "Then she should know every way in here!"
"Right, she should know where to find a way to escape from this mansion!" Han told them, agreeing with Denver.
"What if they already escaped and left us here?" Lei said, looking at the dead bodies in front of them. "We haven't seen her since last night, what if she already ran away?"
"She won't do that." Siena said with certainty in her voice that Lexi is not that kind of a person who will abandon everyone just to save herself. She didn't know anything much about Lexi, but with the span of several days being with Lexi, she could tell that she's a kind person who gives care to everyone.
"Then we have to find her tomorrow and ask her to help us get out of here." Denver said and they all agreed to it.
