CHAPTER 2
Anabella's POV
''Time to wake up, my lady.'' I heard a familiar voice in my sleep, but I groaned loudly and turned to the other side of the bed while covering my face with the blanket.
''My lady, the alpha is already waiting for you at the table, and he won't eat until you join him.'' She murmured and slightly shook my leg.
''Oh goodness.'' I grumbled and slowly opened my eyes.
''Rise and shine, my lady; today looks bright and promising.'' Catherine giggled happily as she drew up my curtains.
''What's the time?'' I asked while standing on my feet.
''A few minutes after 7 a.m., my lady.'' Hearing those words from her, I grumbled tiredly and stood before my dressing mirror.
My black curly hair was messy all over my face, my eyes looked dull, and I lacked sleep due to the constant dreams I've been having lately.
''Vicky.'' I telepathically communicated with my wolf, but she howled drowsily and shut herself away from me.
''Bitch.'' I chuckled softly and left the mirror.
''What would you love to wear, a green long dress or a purple fitted dress? Oh, do you want the black dress Alpha Rona got for you?'' Catherine asked while searching my closet, but I ignored her and walked into the bathroom.
Life as the younger sister of Alpha Rona was pleasing and enjoyable. There were servants and maids to do almost everything for me.
Gifted with a remarkable gift of healing, I made everyone love and respect me.
I was twenty-three already and still haven't found my mate, not that it bothered me. In fact, I was actually happy about it.
Sighing, I put on the cold shower and stood in it while I closed my eyes and tried to communicate with my wolf. But for the past few days, she has been shutting herself off from me.
I groaned tiredly as I turned off the shower and wrapped a towel around my chest before leaving the bathroom.
I walked back into the room and noticed different colors of dresses were kept on my bed by Catherine while she was busy bringing out footwear for me.
''Catherine.'' I murmured and sat on the chair. In front of my dressing mirror
''Pick any color of your choice. You don't have to keep bringing out varieties of dresses.''
"Yes, my lady.'' She slightly lowered her head and picked up the dresses from the bed.
I creamed my body and sprayed some perfume on my body while Catherine offered to comb my hair, but I refused and decided to do it myself.
I finished combing my hair and applied a little makeup to my face before standing on my feet.
Catherine handed a sleek black fitted dress to me, which I took and put on while Catherine zipped it up for me.
I stood before the mirror and stared at myself in the mirror one more time, and was pleased with my appearance.
My black curly hair fell on my shoulders, while my sea blue fascinating eyes brought light to my face. My pointed nose fit my V-shaped face perfectly, while my lips were the type one would describe as kissable.
''My lady, the alpha is waiting.'' Catherine announced to me while she opened the door of my room.
''Not like I'm his mate or wife.'' I grumbled softly and walked out of the room.
As I took the stairs downstairs to the dining table, I nodded my head to the greetings of the servants before getting to the table.
''Brother.'' I greeted him and placed a soft kiss on his cheek, which made him grunt softly, but I knew he loved it.
I moved away from him and dragged the seat beside him and sat on it.
''Good morning, brother.'' I greeted while placing a plate in front of me.
''Ani, you look pale; what's wrong?'' He asked with his quizzical gaze on me.
''Come on, brother, I just greeted you; can you at least respond to my greeting?" I murmured.
''That still hasn't answered my question. Why do you look this pale.'' He asked again while dropping his spoon on his plate and settled his gaze on me.
Rolling my eyes, I ignored his questions and dished some porridge onto my plate.
''Anabella.'' He called out to me.
''Brother.'' I rolled my eyes and put a spoonful of food in my mouth.
''I'm fine, brother; I'm not a baby.'' I grumbled and put another spoon in my mouth.
''You don't look well, and I'm going to let this slide for now.'' He expressed those words in a serious tone and continued eating.
I scoffed at his words and continued eating before my thoughts drifted to someone.
''Where is Lina?" I asked.
''She went to visit her mother, but she will be back soon.'' Rona explained.
''Alright.'' I replied while nodding my head.
We ate silently until Rona spoke up.
''About your mate issue, I was thinking we should go see the seer again.'' Rona suggested, but I bluntly refused.
"No, brother, there is no need for that. We've been there so many times, and she kept seeing nothing.'' I grumbled with some food in my mouth.
''Maybe this time might be different.'' Rona suggested, but I shook my head in refusal.
''I can't go there, brother, I can't.'' I complained and went on eating my food.
We ate in silence, but I could still feel Rona's constant gaze on me, which I ignored and continued eating.
''I'll be going to town; do you need me to get anything for you?'' I inquired.
''No, and you shouldn't be going to town; we have servants for that,'' he replied.
''Come on! Give me a break; I feel imprisoned here," I begged.
He groaned angrily and dropped his spoon on his plate.
''Fine, but make sure you don't use your abilities; I don't want you getting weak.'' He pleaded.
"Yes, brother, I won't do anything.'' I lied and stood on my feet, gave him a kiss on the cheek, and walked out of the dining room.
After hours of walking around the pack, Catherine turned to me and said,
''My lady, the sun is already out; don't you think we should go back to the mansion?" She asked, but I shook my head in disapproval.
''No, I feel caged in there.'' I grumbled and continued walking with no particular location in mind.
I was about to take a step towards the town market when I felt my wolf howl in pain and discomfort, which I knew was a sign but did not know what the sign was for.
''Vicky,'' I spoke telepathically to my wolf, but she howled and whimpered in pain but did not say a word to me, which was strange.
''Is everything alright?'' Catherine asked, but I slowly shook my head.
''I think we should go back to the mansion,'' I stated. Catherine nodded her head in agreement and followed behind while I rushed toward the path that led to the mansion.
Within a few minutes I was at the mansion, and quickly I rushed toward my brother's room to see if he was okay.
I got to his room and quickly rushed in, only to see the physician attending to him while his beta stood beside him.
''What happened.'' I asked in fear while I rushed to his side and quickly placed my hands on him.
''Don't use your powers; you will get weak; the physician can handle this.'' Brother murmured in a low, weak tone, but I ignored him and closed my eyes for my ability to work.
I felt an energy leave me before I opened my eyes, and I smiled in relief when I noticed there was no injury on my brother’s body anymore.
''What happened.'' I asked while staring at him.
''He got into an accident and called out to me; luckily I was around." Hearing those words from the beta of our pack, I sighed in relief and silently thanked the moon goddess for giving me such abilities.
''It's okay, brother, just go to sleep so you can get your lost strength.'' I said those words to my brother, but he shook his head and moved his gaze to his beta.
''Are the men back?" He directed those questions to his beta.
''No, Alpha.'' Hearing those words from his beta, my brother sighed and shook his head, which made me curious.
''What's wrong?'' I asked.
He heaved a weak sigh and signaled everyone to leave us alone, which got me more terrified and curious.
''Brother, is everything okay?” I questioned while settling my gaze on him. I have never seen him in such a weak state before.
''You have to run away, Ani, and you have to do it now,'' he muttered out in a low and nervous tone.
''Why, what happened.'' I asked.
''Stop asking questions. Ani, just run away from here; please go! I will communicate with you whenever everything is fine, my beta will take you to Lina's pack, where you will stay for a while.'' He muttered those words in a scared tone and placed kisses on my hands and tried shoving me away.
''Can you at least tell me what is wrong.'' I pleaded as I stood on my feet. But he shook his head, refusing to answer.
''Just run, Ani, run!'' he pleaded, seeing the desperation on my brother's face, I heeded his words.
Quickly, I rushed for the door, opened it, and felt all the blood in my body drain out for a second.
''Mate," my wolf howled excitedly as I met eyes with a god in a human form.
He has piercing green eyes that speak power and authority.
He had an elegant cut and an admirably shaped eyebrow. His beard was smooth and perfectly spade-shaped around his mouth. His pointed nose and half-dome cheekbones sat above his jaw. He had broad shoulders, which proved he had been doing a lot of workouts.
''Mate.'' My wolf howled happily and pushed me forward toward him, which made me fall on his hard, muscular chest, but he pushed me back into the room and slammed the door behind him with great force, which made me flip in fear.
