CHAPTER 2: Grieving

1464 Words
"GOOD MORNING, MR. Yilmaz. I just want to remind you that you have a meeting with board of directors this aftern—" "Please, reschedule the meeting tomorrow." "Mr., may I know the reason, so that I can inform the board of directors?" "I'm grieving…" After that, Dashiell continued walking until he finally reached his office. His father is already dead. He received a call from his mother informing him that his father had passed away. His long battle with cancer—which he had been suffering from for several years—is finally over. It saddened Dashiell. He was able to talk to his father yesterday, and now he's gone. He wants to fly to Turkey, but his mother is preventing him from doing so because she fears something might happen to him, especially considering their strained relationship with each other. This is even more painful than what Camilla did to him two years ago. He took some ice from the refrigerator and a glass before proceeding to the living area, which was also located in his office. He put ice in the glass before pouring 1976 Dictador Generations en Lalique rum into it. Dashiell took a sip from the glass before leaning back in his seat. At first, he was hesitant whether to accept it or not. But since he is the only child of his father, he eventually accepted it because there is no other heir but him. Dashiell couldn't help but smile during those moments as he gazed at the entirety of his office. All he could see was black. Dashiell loves black, so when he took hold of the company, he changed the office theme. It went from being colorful to everything turning black. "Didn't I tell you not to bother me right now? I'm not in the mood to talk!" he exclaimed sharply, rolling his eyes in frustration. He wasn't in the mood to talk and socialize with people, but Dashiell didn't want to waste the opportunity for others to know what he had done to make Prime Properties even more successful. "Let her in," he said before putting down the telephone. After a few minutes of waiting, may kumatok na sa pinto ng kaniyang opisina. The woman walked towards him until she stood in front of him. She smiled at him. Dashiell swallowed hard, feeling his masculinity slowly awakening as he gazed at the gentle face of the woman. "Maria Santos, right? What a nice name." "T-Thank you for the compliment about my name, Mr. Yilmaz. C-Can we start?" He nodded. "Let's do it on the terrace." "Start now, Miss Santos." Dashiell smiled. "You know, Miss Santos, my father built this company. When it was still in his hands, the company flourished and gained recognition not just in the Philippines but also in other countries. My father was business-minded, and I believe I inherited that from him. When I took over Prime Properties, I promised my father that I would further grow the company, which I think I've achieved. I didn't become a billionaire because of this company. In fact, I also own two condominium buildings here in Manila and five resorts in different provinces in Luzon. I built them through hard work, perseverance, and dedication. Everything runs smoothly because of my father's guidance. But now that he's gone, I don't know how I can run everything without him." Maria flinched. "Gone?" "That's my answer to your question, Miss Santos." "I-I don't understand, Mr. Yilmaz. What do you mean by 'gone'?" Dashiell smirked. "Dead." "Oh my God! I-I'm so sorry to hear that, Mr. Yilmaz. I didn't mean to open this top—" "It's fine. You don't need to apologize." "Let's proceed, Mr. Yilmaz. I have gathered questions here, and I will ask these to you one by one." "Before we start, Miss Santos, I have a question. Do you have a boyfriend?" Maria smiled widely. "I don't have a boyfriend, Mr. Yilmaz. It's not my priority this time. I want to focus on my passion." Dashiell grinned before confidently walking towards Maria. "Are you open to having s*x with me, Miss. Santos? Don't worry, I will pay you." Mabilis na tumayo si Maria. "Mr. Yilmaz, I came here to interview you and know the story behind the success of Prime Properties, not to have s*x with you." "I am aware, Miss Santos." "You're aware, but you still asked me." "Name your price, Miss Santos. I can pay you any amount—just let me taste yo—" Hindi pa man natatapos si Dashiell sa iba pa niyang sasabihin nang makatanggap siya nang malakas na sampal mula kay Maria. "Excuse me, Mr. Yilmaz, but I'm not for sale. I don't need your money because I have my own. No matter how much it is, I don't care. I won't compromise my dignity just for money because I promised myself that I will only give this to the man I love. You know, I don't care about the interview anymore. You disappoint me, Mr. Yilmaz. It seems that what they say about you is true. You're really a womanizer. I regret stepping into your company." Afterwards, Maria aggressively left Dashiell's office. The woman even banged the door before leaving.
