YES FRIES, THERE WILL BE A CHRISTMAS
read the headlines of Suzie’s December18th edition of the Fries Wildcat Spirit Weekly.
In it she gave the highlights of the board meeting, then tried to repeat verbatim as much of Mr. Armbrister’s speech as she could recall. It was times like this she wished she had one of those tape-recorders she sees the journalists use on TV. She reported who the six Christmas committee members would be, after the three pastors had been asked and had accepted. She tried to report her selection as casually as possible, without letting her pride show through. Her mom had always told her it’s okay to be proud, but wrong to have pride. Sometimes she could not understand how to have one without the other.
